    3X1 Mini HDMI® Switch w/ Remote

Are you stuck with an older HDTV without enough HDMI® ports for all your equipment? Don't go through the hassle of swapping cables and don't go to the expense of replacing a perfectly good TV. Get the Monoprice 3x1 HDMI Switcher instead!

This mini switch box allows you to connect three HDMI sources and direct them into a single HDMI output. The switcher supports 1080p resolution with 3D and high-resolution audio, including Dolby TrueHD™, Dolby® Digital Plus, and DTS-HD Master Audio™. It also supports 30-bit and 36-bit deep color modes.

Note that this switch has "normal" HDMI Connectors. The "mini" in the title and description refer to the size of the switch, not the type of connectors it uses.

The switcher includes a wireless remote control to easily switch between sources without having to leave the comfort of your couch, and if you misplace the remote all is not lost! It also has a source selection button on the front, so it can be operated without the remote. Smart circuitry built into the unit allows it to skip over inputs that are unused or whose equipment is turned off so you can instantly switch between the devices you have operating.

The unit supports 3D feature and conforms to the HDCP, ensuring that all of your equipment and media will play properly.

Note: The remote control is the same one used for the 5x1 Switch Box and thus includes 5 direct access buttons. Buttons 4 and 5 will have no effect with this switch. Use buttons 1, 2, and 3 to directly access an operating source device. Use the left and right arrow buttons to cycle backwards and forwards through the operating source devices.

    Features:

    • 3 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output
    • Supports 30/36-bit Deep Color display
    • Supports Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS-HD Master Audio
    • Auto Signal Enhancement can improve signal quality over long distances
    • Supports resolution up to 1080p
    • Supports 3D
    • Includes wireless remote controller
    • Easy to install and operate
    • Draws power from HDMI cables, external DC power source is optional

Important Note: When using anything other than a direct connection between a source a destination, there is a chance for some signal loss. Monoprice recommends the use of minimum 24 AWG cables when using external devices like switches, AV amplifiers, or other products between the source and destination. For cables of longer than 10 feet, it is recommended to use 22 AWG cables.

how to set automatic switch to prioritze input choices?
    Jordan S on Jan 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello Jordan S., Well the switch is already prioritized for you. All you have to do is put the HDMI cables in the order you want them to be in. 1, 2 and 3 input order you you want them in. The inputs are labeled for you. I hope this helps to answer your question.

    Killed my Cable Box!
    STAY AWAY FROM THIS ITEM!

As soon I hooked it to my cable box (Verizon FiOS), my picture reverted to a blue-green, washed out mess, and it started blinking on and off. I disconnected the HDMI switch and reconnected my cable box directly. The blue/green picture persisted. Verizon's tech support says that apparently the HDMI output of the cable box has apparently been fried.

Now I am stuck with the old 5-cable RGB connection until my new cable box arrives.

PROS: If it worked as advertised, it would be a good thing

    CONS: Damages other peripherals!

No power supply can be a problem, especially with phones
In order to function this switch requires power from at least one of the input devices through its HDMI cable. Small devices, such as a Chromecast or iPhone don't provide power, so I needed to acquire a power supply. Monoprice doesn't offer one, and who wants to search for one, and then pay shipping from another vendor. Buy one with the power supply included. The additional cost is maybe $5 more.

PROS: Offering an HDMI switch without a power supply is asinine. Who knows what input devices provide can power.
The remote services both a 3-way and a 5-way switch, but having 5 input choices on the remote and only 3 on the switch really looks dumb.

CONS: We didn't want to search for a power supply so we RMA'd it.

If the description had included this information, we wouldn't have bought it. We ended up paying for round trip shipping. We replaced it with a better one from Amazon with free shipping and a more liberal return policy than Monoprice.

    ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!
This little 3 x 1 HDMI switch is a blessing! It does everything as described and then some! When I purchased the product I was purchasing it under the assumption that since the power was optional I would have to get up and manually switch between the sources which was fine, but that isn't the case at all! I don't know how but it receives power (maybe it gets it through some minor voltages through the HDMI cables or something I don't know) and since it receives power the included remote is fully functional allowing you to use that to choose your source. Also, as mentioned in the description, it'll automatically choose the active HDMI source without any problems. I tested to see what would happen if I had one active HDMI input and then turned on another, possibly resulting in it switching to the newer active input, however, it fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your viewpoint) stayed with the selected active input. Oh and lastly, I ordered the recommended 24AWG High Speed HDMI cables to replace the HDMI cables that run to the switch but I'm currently only using one of them for output to the HDTV and the rest connecting to the switch are my older 28AWG High Speed HDMI cables. I'm still receiving a solid 1080p signal from my sources, which are currently an Xbox 360 and PS3, so no complaints just note that I might have been particularly lucky in that regard. Also take note that when receiving the product there will be a fairly good sized empty spot in the box that will only contain the remote control for the HDMI switch, this is normal as it only comes with the HDMI Switch, Remote Control and Instructions.

PROS: Does absolutely everything it's described as doing.

My particular unit somehow gets power without the optional power supply.

CONS: When directly in front of the HDMI switch the 'Power' and 'Output' LED's are rather bright, however, when you're off to either side of the switch it's barely noticeable.

    It wasn't free?

Really ought to have AC Adapter
This switch really should come with an AC adapter or at least a DC Type N to USB A cable (to use power from USB/TV). Without dedicated power, the unit pulls power from HDMI which supplies 5v at 50mW MAX! This unit requires up to 4W which is 80x more power! It crashed my Apple TV a couple times and my Raspberry Pi causes the HDMI switch to turn on and off multiple times a second and eventually crashes my RPi sometimes too. If multiple sources are connected, or sources that deliver more the HDMI spec, it works (my laptop for example makes the switch work).

Bottom-line: this should not be used without dedicated power or you could damage equipment as some people have experienced. It really should come with an AC adapter or at least a cable so it can be plugged into USB for power. That's what I did. I bought a DC 5.5x2.5 Type N connector from The Source (formerly Radio Shack) for $2.99 and a USB cable from Monoprice. I cut the USB cable and soldered the +5v and ground to the Type N adapter and then plugged the USB connector into my TV's USB connector. Now whenever I turn on the TV, dedicated power goes to the switch. The TV delivers 1A so the unit gets the full 4W it needs. It's rock-solid stable now.

PROS: Comes with a remote. With dedicated DC power, it works great. It also automatically switches to a source and when selecting next source, it skips over inputs that have nothing attached.

CONS: Requires 4W but does not come with an AC adapter so it pulls on the 50mW HDMI power which can damage equipment!

    Great Product - GREAT deal!
I could not believe the price and when I got the switch I realized it was the real thing - I was expected junk - it was incredible quality and it worked perfectly. Much more than I expected - It shipped on time - everything was in the box. I felt like I had found the holy grail of electronic components!!! I have told many friends and will continue to do so. Thank you!

    Great little HDMI switcher
I plugged in my Sat receiver, Xbox 360 and WD media player into it and out through my Yamaha receiver and all worked perfectly. No distortion in picture. Swapping sources isn't that slow and it just works. Would buy again, for the price you can't go wrong.

    PROS: -small
    -no power supply needed
    -excellent price
-worked with all my equipment (even my 6 year old 42" LG Plasma tv)

CONS: -lights are bright and switch button stuck a little on first use
-remote needs direct line of sight to work
-should come with a small strip of velcro so you can stick it down as the cables move it around a bit

    Nice HDMI switch
Using for Motorola cable box and Apple TV. Have zero problems with it working. Solved my HDMI problem.

PROS: Does job perfectly and easily. Haven't had any problems with HDMI handshakes. Will auto switch to proper HDMI if all devices are off and you turn one on.

CONS: Blue LEDs are brighter than the sun. I have flashlights dimmer than the blue LEDs on this thing. I taped a thick construction style paper over the blue LEDs. Red is bright in itself...nothing compared to the blue though. Doesn't auto switch to another active device if you turn off your current device. Have to use the remote or the push button.

    Doesnt work with PS4
Simply did not work with PS4, Xbox One was fine.

CONS: - cable position for tv is to the side making it awkward to place.

    hdmi switch
This HDMI switcher works great and I haven't had any problems with it yet and to tone down the brightness of the LEDs I just put some electrical tape over then and poker out some tiny holes.

PROS: Works great and switches will every time

    CONS: None

    Remote Works with No Power!
I ordered this for my mother-in-law and she and my wife managed to hook it and three new HDMI cables up with only some simple instructions I left. Like the other review says, this does NOT require an external power supply. It must operate on the 5 VDC from pin 18 of the HDMI inputs. I assume if your device doesn't supply that, you'd need the external AC adapter. Otherwise, I'm not sure what it's for. Best Buy wanted $100 for a similar product… that's over 80% off, folks!

PROS: Small, easy to hook up. Remote works without power supply!

    CONS: None
