I need an HDMI switch, which will automatically switch between sources with 4K resolution and conduct a quality signal 25 feet to a 4K HDTV - will this do that?
    Roger C A on Jan 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The switch works great my application required only a short distance to my tv
you may red the power supply to go the 25 feet
What happens if both devices are powered on and providing signal?
    New User U on Feb 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Unless you choose a source manually with the push button switch, the device that was turned on last will be the signal that displays.
Does this unit have an optical outlet on it for an optical cord?
    A shopper on Aug 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, no optical cord. It works extremely well as a simple HDMI switch that works automatically as you turn on and off your Tivos, cable box, DVD player, etc.
I have a Roku Premier that I need to manually reboot (unplug/replug power) each time I turn on the TV before the HDMI connects. Will this allow me to power up/ power down remotely to resolve this issue?
    A shopper on Oct 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Only the HDMI signal runs through this device, not power. The optional power adapter is to power the switch if the inputs need a little boost. It's not going to cycle the power on your Roku for you. Now, if the problem happens to be that the Roku is not providing a strong signal through the HDMI, if you got this switch with the optional power adapter it might help, but I wouldn't bank on that.
Will the signal reverse? For example: can I plug a bluray player into the output, a TV into 1 input, and a projector into the 2nd input? Hoping the bluray player would send its signal to either the TV or Projector depending on which is powered on...
    Nathanael U on Jun 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately this unit would not work in reverse. What you would want to use for that set up would be an HDMI splitter. I would recommend a powered splitter, such as Product # 15379.

I have three projectors at my church that's receiving input from HDMI splitter. That splitter gets input from a HDMI switch. A PC and camcorder is plugged into the switch. When I go from PC to camcorder, I notice that the projector resyncs resulting in blue logo screen for about 3 seconds until it resyncs. Is this the projector issue or switch? Or that's just how things are with this HDMI switch?

I tried using this to switch between a Mac mini and a laptop computer to use the same monitor. The laptop works fine but the mac will not connect when I switch back to it from using the laptop if both are on. I push the button and can use the laptop. Push it again and screen is just black. If I unplug the mac's HDMI cable and then reinsert it the mac's display comes up. Would a different switch solve this?

    8 seconds to switch
We were going to use this switch to switch inputs between our computer output and our video output but decided going against it because it takes ~8 seconds to switch inputs, so there's ~8 seconds of just staring at a black screen between each inputs.

    PROS: Cheap and "works"

CONS: It takes "~8" seconds to switch between HDMI inputs, it should be faster.

Works Great. Needed to add AC power though
Was using this without issue for years. Was having some issues with my Directv DVR and was upgraded to the latest model, HR 44-700. I had previously had the 34 I believe. There weren't any issues with the HR34 but the HR44 doesn't seem to have enough power on the HDMI output to drive the switch. It would only work when the second device, a Blu-Ray player was turned on as well. Once I added a power supply (5V 300mA) to the switch everything started to work exactly the way it is supposed to.

PROS: Works great and no longer need to switch between source inputs and no longer have to explain to the significant other how to watch a movie

CONS: Little to no details on what the specifications are for the "optional" power input. Uses 3.4mm OD, 1.3mm ID plug.

    HDMI Switch works great
This item works great, we have many customers that have small televisions that are limited to one input. The 2X1 HDMI splitter allows us to put 2 devices on the same small TV with a hassle free input. The fact that it automatically switches between the two devices when one is powered down and the other is powered up, makes this easier to use for our more technically challenged clientele. Note: Some low voltage HDMI devices may not trigger the HDMI splitter, for these devices you should get the powered version of the 2x1 HDMI splitter.

PROS: Device works as intended, small, easy to conceal, low cost.

CONS: You may run into low power, or no power HDMI ports, this would require the device to be powered and manually switch between the two inputs. If your devices don't put out enough power it might be wise to get the powered version of the 2x1 HDMI Splitter. Other than that the unit works flawlessly.

    Little box that saves hassles.
I purchased this HDMI switch to be able to connect both my PC and my WiiU on the same monitor (Asus VW246H 1080p). It worked out of the box perfectly. The other reason why I purchased this model especially is because there was optional power input. The only problems, so far, since I received it, is that my monitor might not catch the signal correctly if a new signal is detected by the switch. However, as a workaround, I found out that powering off and back on the monitor usually solve the signal problem. Note that this might not happen if the switch has the optional 5V power source connected. Since I don't have this 5V power output, I can't test that out.

Beside that, the LED that indicate which source the swicth is using is WAY too bright.

To conclude, it IS a very good product and I recommand it if your sources are close to each other. Otherwise, you will need the not-included Power Output.

    PROS: - Small.
    - Price.
    - Auto-detect new source and switches immediately
    - Works with PC Monitors w/HDMI
    - Don't need extra power

CONS: - Might need power if there is signal problems, 5V power output not included.
    - VERY bright source LED

    Works as advertized
Product works as advertized. Monoprice warns that 24AWG cable is required on both the input and output sides, but I am using a 15-foot 28AWG cable on the output and a 6-foot 28AWG cable on the input with no issues. The 24AWG cable was just too thick and unbendable for my application. The first time I hooked it up, I got degraded quality video output (720p) and no sound. I'm not entirely certain whether this had anything to do with the 28AWG cable I was using, but I corrected the problem but unplugging and replugging the HDMI cables at all connections. It seems that I may have had a loose connection somewhere because it has been working fine now ever since.

PROS: Automatically switches between HDMI inputs

CONS: No information given on amperage required for 5V adapter

    No Complaints
Switching between my AppleTV and Playstation 4 has been seamless. Only one time have I had to manually use the button to switch inputs-perhaps because the AppleTV did not shut off completely by the time I needed the other input. The switch worked as advertised and I would recommend this.

PROS: Surprisingly small and very sleek.

CONS: It is so light and small that the cables easily lift it into the air (not really a con). I used velcro to stick it to the back of a shelf on my entertainment center.

    Great Switch
Would recommend this switch, will buy another if needed for more devices due to lack of available HDMI inputs.

PROS: I have to admit this switch is very good. Due to lack of HDMI inputs on my TV, I used this switch with my Xbox and blueray player. I simply power on either device I want to use. Never had any issues with the switch not powering on the device I turn on. Best part is, its self powered, no AC plug needed.

CONS: I have not come across any yet.

    Worked great easy setup
My son got a new PS3 for his birthday, but he now has 3 video sources and only 2 HDMI ports on his TV. This little gadget makes it possible to switch between Xbox and PS3 simply by turning one off and the other on. While the gaming consoles share one HDMI port, the other port hosts the cable box. There is a manual switch on the unit in case he needs to leave both consoles on for some reason. I got this and a couple of HDMI cables delivered to my doorstep for less than $30! Great product at a great price! Thanks, Monoprice!

PROS: Simple to hook up, works like a charm, automatically switches when new source is powered up.

    CONS: None

PROS: The precise piece of equipment my grandson wanted in order to make his XBox 360 and XBox 1 do something I know nothing about! Reasonable price, swift delivery, hassle-free. Monoprice is a Luddite's best friend.

    CONS: None

    Highly Recommended
I bought two of the 2x1 HDMI mini switches and they couldn't work more perfectly. Small, lightweight, didn't require power. Switching between my PS4 and gaming PC happens automatically, requiring no intervention on my part. Signal quality is great with no discernible degradation in output.

PROS: Small, lightweight, didn't require power. Inexpensive. Works exactly as designed.

    CONS: None so far.
