What is the difference between product 18784 and 24181?

Monoprice Blackbird HDMI Extender, 50m, PoC, IR Kit, Loop Out
Monoprice Blackbird HDMI Extender, 50m, PoC, IR Kit, Loop Out
Monoprice Blackbird HDMI Extender Over Cat6, 50m, EDID, Loop Out
Monoprice Blackbird HDMI Extender Over Cat6, 50m, EDID, Loop Out
BEST ANSWER: The 18784 has the ability to copy and use the EDID from the display locally, while the other does not. It is also metal which helps with heat dissipation. The24181 has an auto EQ feature.
    Does this transmit audio too?
    Larry W on Aug 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will have audio with it.

But, if you are going direct to a TV, you might have the same problem as me. My TV (older model) couldn't play the audio format that I was sending. So, I had to buy an "Audio Extractor" to be able to send 2 channel audio over an optical cable (with an HDMI pass through).

I used 2 of these and they work great.
Does this allow for 2 displays, 1 from HDMI and 1 from the CAT6 to receiver at the same time? For example can I connect it to blu-ray and watch in living room & basement?

Does this transfer sound and video?
    Dave H on May 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. We run a 80' cat6 unshielded cable between buildings. We did not have shielded cable at the time. Works good. We pull the sound from the projector audio out and run it via RCA to a sound mixer/amp. We use a DI box to eliminate hum. All is good. If you are running to a tv with its own built in speakers the set up is easy and reliable. I like the loop back HDMI. the PC that we are sending to the other building has an HDM monitor that is driven from the loop back.
Can the cat 6 cable run thru a switch?
    Ron G on May 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I just tested trying to run this through my switch and the switch connectivity lights don't show activity on the input or output side, and no data is going through to my screen. The specs say it's running the HDBaseT transmission medium, which probably doesn't have the necessary controller information to get the switch to send the signal to the right place. A similar product, Product # 16048, uses TCP/IP and has a simple description in the user manual for splitting the signal using a switch.
The unit says CAT5e works. I am running a PC HDMI out to a new ceiling-mounted HD projector -- NO AUDIO NEEDED. There is already CAT5 installed between the two from a previous setup using VGA baluns on either end of the CAT5. Will CAT5 be sufficient for video only?
    A shopper on Jan 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We installed it as a feed to a security monitor behind the bar (no audio needed). We used Cat5e and it's flawless. I don't think there's much difference between the two cables, and any other solution will have the same requirements. So this is a very cost effective way to give it a shot
Can you run this with cat5?
    Pete V on Aug 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: it works with cat5 but cat6 is recommended
Does this include the IR receiver and transmitter unit?

Great for adding long distance 2nd monitor.
Super simple to set up and worked immediately. The loop out function went to a security monitor in the office and the transmission fees went to the bar monitor. Works flawlessly.

    Affordable and reliable
Bought this set of HDMI Extenders to loop signal about 100 feet to a lower level dressing room area TV so performers could have a camera feed of what is going on in the theatre auditorium. Installed them about a month ago, and so far no issues at all.

Blackbird HDMI Extender, 50m, PoC, IR Kit, Loop Out
HDMI Extender works as stated. Didn't need loop out feature, but handy if you do. The PoC feature is nice you don't need another wall wart at the receiver end. In my application I'm connecting the transmitter end off of a 8 way HDMI splitter and running about 80 ft of CAT 6 STP from a basement through conduit out to my workshop into the receiver and from the receiver to the TV with a 3 ft HDMI cable. When doing the initial hookup the extender did not work correctly, but luckily I was only using 6 outputs on my 8 way splitter and used the end output (#8) and everything worked. Not sure if it's a possible noise issue being close to the last functioning output of the splitter.

Red dots at 70 feet of CAT6
This is the right price, but does not work very well. I am sending the HDMI out of my PC (1080P) over just 70 feet of CAT6 and there are red "flickering" dots in areas of the display showing dark colors. This is supposed to support 180 feet! I guess that's why it is so inexpensive.
