    i bought a new ASUS monitor that has an in port for both VGA and DVI cables. My computer tower only has a VGA port. The monitor is now working with the VGA cable connected to the monitor's VGA in port and the tower's VGA port. However, I'm told to view a better display on the monitor, to connect via DVI. So my question, will this splitter do the job?

    BEST ANSWER: Hi, you probably won't get better resolution with this splitter since you are still outputting from your computer's VGA port, which is the bottleneck in your setup. There is also a chance that your monitor won't recognize the Analog signal from the DVI-A output of the splitter. If you can't upgrade your computer or video card at the moment, you can consider Product 5325, USB 2.0 to DVI Display Adapter (1280x1024). This would provide better resolution than VGA and should work with older computers. If your computer has USB 3.0 (blue USB port), Product 12628 would be even better.

    OK.. not so bad after all...
    After speaking with a technician, the wrong cable was being used.

    These are DVI-A and a DVI-D cable was being used.

    I did have one fail after a year or so of use - (vga-vga) model - but all others seem to be fine.

    Excellent product!
    I purchased this item to use on my home surveillance system. I needed another monitor hooked up in another room and used this to split the signal between the two monitors. Works like a champ, no complaints of any kind on this end. This was the cheaper option when we purchased it. The dual VGA was a little more expensive and I already had adapters that went from the DVI to VGA, so I got this one. Even with the adapter being on it there isn't a single complaint (the adapter is being used on my main monitor in the room with the DVR so I see it a LOT).

    Again, monoprice's prices are just unbeatable. This product had the best price all around.
    It sends a great video signal from the computer to our living room TV. That's pretty much it.
    Awesome purchase.

    PROS: Great video signal.

    Terrible - junk
    Very frustrating. bought 3 of these, and none of them worked. spent hours trying to troubleshoot systems because I just couldn't believe that all of them were bad.

    Silly me.

    PROS: inexpensive

    CONS: 3 out of 3 do not work at all.
