This is what is needed for cat 5e. I tried the one that doesn't require power and it didn't work for a 45-50 foot run. The extender stopped working but it turns out it was the adapter, not the extender. It lasted about 3 years before burning up. Much better and cheaper option to HDMI cables.
Great product!! I set up an outside TV on my covered deck and wanted to watch live TV out there. From my cable box I run my inside TV with component cable and used the HDMI line for the outside TV. The inside and outside TVs mirror each other. I used a 4' HDMI from the box to the sending unit. The sender requires two CAT5 lines (marked 1 and 2) to transmit the signal to the receiver. The receiver requires its own power and must be plugged in with the included power adapter. I have a 6' HDMI cable that leads from the receiver unit to the TV. My CAT5 run is approx. 70' with a splice about 20' from the sender and the picture is great. Great product for the money, I've only had it a couple weeks but couldn't be happier with the results for the cost. This was definitely one of the most cost effective ways to run a line without drilling huge holes for the HDMI terminal ends. Would definitely buy again and would recommend to anyone looking to run an HDMI signal a long way.
PROS: Small size, throws a good clean signal a long way, plug and play no set up necessary
CONS: Requires two CAT5 lines, no mounting hardware included
I purchased two sets of these to extend my HDMI signal from my media room to two tvs in the house. They worked PERFECTLY! The picture quality is great and the setup was a cinch. The only issue is both power supplies failed at 1 year within a week of each other. I leave these units "on" all the time and just turn the TVs on and off, so it may be that they were not made for continuous use. I'm buying two more and may look for an option of turning them off when not in use.
This unit failed to solve my problem. I needed to get the HDMI signal from my Dish Hopper to my PC's Hauppauge Colossus 2 video capture card. The distance is only 25 feet. I used 25-foot CAT6 cables between the HDXT-E60 "sender" and "receiver", but I was not able to detect the HDMI signal with my Hauppauge Colossus 2. I'm thinking that the problem was NOT with the HDXT-E60 setup, but was rather with my Hauppauge Colossus 2. I do know that if I move the PC to within a few feet of the Hopper, I CAN get HDMI to the PC with a short HDMI cable. So the failure is still a puzzler.
PROS: This unit seems to be a good solution for delivering HDMI long distances.
CONS: It just didn't solve my problem, but I'm suspicious that the fault lies elsewhere.
Works as expected. Not always easy to say about components in this price\performance category. Very happy. 120ft run with HDMI 4.1 split to 2x- 75" 1080p HDCP TV's. Worked on first hookup...with CAT5e !
Luckily, I designed the cabling for room this was placed into, so I knew to have two ports available. That's the primary shortfall of the unit: That it must use 2 RJ-45 cables. Fortunately cable is inexpensive, but if you're wanting to hide the connection you have to to build enough ports into the room, which may not always be an option. Adding more ports can be expensive and/or time-consuming. But I can't complain about how well it works. It's exactly what I needed.
PROS: Works well, not expensive
CONS: Requires two Cat5e/Cat6 cables, and 2 ports at each end if it's going through the walls
Worked perfectly. The first one that failed, ended up being the cat6 wires inside the floor/wall that were damaged. Upon replacing those wires, it worked perfectly. This was my second installation of this one. The first was in my previous house and it worked perfectly there too. I recommend this and the company stands behind it.
PROS: Makes long runs from HDMI where HDMI could not normally run. Also can be used to go through small conduits that the HDMI cable head won't fit, even if for a short distance. Customer service is polite and responsive.
CONS: Be careful what time you order. I paid for overnight delivery and got it in two days, since I missed the dead line for shipment in the same day. Might be safer to order through Amazon. But sometimes it's on sale here and not in Amazon.
