Needed to put my minitower/music server near the stereo and use a short audiophile USB for best sound. This 35 foot DVI cable to my monitor feeds it without any change in performance, which I did not expect to get without a booster. The cable is 1/2" thick but has decent flexibility. The anchoring screws could use improved knurling as their tapered shape makes screwing them difficult I do not have bulky fingers, either.
PROS: If you need the length and its thickness is not a problem, I recommend it.
CONS: Anchoring screws at the DVI plugs could be designed better but you only have to use them rarely, so it is not a big deal unless you have really bulky fingers then get help.
I wanted to relocate my systems to the adjoining comm closet to reduce noise at my workstation. These cables perform exactly to my needs.
PROS: Very good performance*. Substantial construction.
* One of the 35' cables I received was defective, intermittent connection on some of the color channels. Submitted a RMA request to Monoprice.com and they promptly replaced it with one that works as designed. This great customer service is why I never hesitate to use Monoprice to meet my needs. Thank you.
This cable is extremely thick and well constructed, I was shocked the first time I set eyes on this beast, hence the nick name of The Black Mamba! I ran this cable though drop ceiling and dragged it across several sharp edges along the way, the jacket remained unscathed. Signal quality is great even over the 35 foot run. Only negative I can think of is the Ferrite Cores are massive which can make running it though the wall a bit of a pain, but they are not any larger than the DVI connector itself.
I recently bought a 27" monitor similar to the one that Monoprice sells (PID 10509), which has a dual link DVI connection and supports resolutions up to 2560x1440. I needed a long DVI cable to run from the location of the monitor to my basement where I have all of my devices and computer. I was pleasantly surprised that this actually was able to handle the higher resolution. I did ordered another shorter cable as "backup", but I am very happy about this as I am able to keep everything in my audio/tech room in the basement. I would highly recommend. Great quality, as usual, from a trusted company. Thanks again Monoprice!
PROS: Supports up to 2560X1440 unlike what the description says (2048 x 1536).
PROS: This was the 3rd purchase I made for a cable for my display set up on my PC so I was already very aggravated nothing was working....apparantly its a big mistake to go with the cheaper cables sold on ebay ESPECIALLY when deal with greater distance....I was literally rady to throw int he towel and accept that my set up was simply not going to work due to distance of cables....I took yet another leap of fate and decided to purchase this cable and to my jaw dropping surprise, i read another review on here from a guy saying this cable has better quality then his other 6' cable...I was thinking "ya I wouldnt go that far buddy lol" no BS it REALLY DOES, not only does this thing work, the colors are MUCH more vibrant then I have ever had on my 1080p, Im telling you, if your thinking about getting this STOP AND GET IT ITS WORTH IT
It came out okay... but next time, we'd really appreciate the first shipment being complete. The size and weight of the box were one clue that all of the cables had not shipped.... not sure where it went awry on your end. Manny was great on recovery though... and as a result, we will use your company again in the future.
PROS: Your company ( Manny in particular) recovered nicely once the shortage was made known. The missing cables were shipped n/c overnight and arrived the next morning.
CONS: You short shipped, not one, but both items on this order. We ordered 12 cables and received 8. The technicians there for the day were unable to complete this job and had to go back causing us a delay/rescheduling with the customer as well as time and expense we lost by having two of our guys there to do the work, but unable to.
I've had no problems at all with these cables (one running 1920x1200 and the other running 1600x1200, with the computers in the next room). If you have a small monitor where you need to have the cable bend sharply, this somewhat bulky cable can make installation difficult. Sharp picture no indication of signal attenuation at this length.
