when this question is asked along with saying that "not UV protected for outdoor use" tell us what product you have that meets those requirements along with being quad shielded!

Is this cable DirecTv approved?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
This cable would not carry any approval from Direct TV specifically but it will pass coax signal without an issue so you would have problems using this with Direct TV's products.

Not good quality
The connector popped off with a slight tug. Not worth the money. I ended up buying another cable at Lowes...much better but more expensive.

Buy it!
I had someone install a new roof antenna on my house and I still wasn't satisfied with my picture. I knew the old coaxial cable was at least 20 years old and I decided to have my handyman replace it. It made a huge difference in the picture.

Just what I expect from Monoprice!
I wanted to move my DirecTV Genie main unit from the home theater to the living room since that is where we watch most of our TV now. The easiest thing for me to do was simply connect to where the DVR was currently connected and run that cable to the new location. I purchased this item in the 100ft length and when it showed up I replaced the short cable run with this to check for signal lost before running the cable and moving the DVR. It worked perfectly with maybe 1% drop in signal strength on a few of the transponders but most stayed the same and a couple even went up by 1%.
Once I was sure that the cable would work I pulled it to the new location, hooked up the DVR and it's perfect. I was running 100ft of component cable (also from MonoPrice) to get from the theater to the living room and the picture is so much better via the direct HDMI connection to the TV. Picture is sharper and colors are much better and the odd buzzing is gone. I've also been able to eliminate the buggy IR transmitter setup I was using to control the DVR which was the main reason for wanting to make the move.
PROS: Insignificant signal lost with DirecTV over a 100ft run.
Cable is very solidly made
Price is very reasonable
CONS: None.

cable TV provider compliments the cable!
The local cable TV company will not run cables inside the walls. I do not know how to put on cable connectors, and quite frankly, I did not want to learn, much less purcahse crimping tools, etc for a one time use. I did not want to spend money on a cabling contractor. So what was I to do? I read the online reviews about Monoprice and this cable in particular. I purchased this cable and ran it myself. I then had the cable company terminate the ends. (They do this EXCEPTIONALLY INEXPENSIVELY.) Without me asking... on his own..... the cable TV installer did a very quick look at the cable and instantly recognized it. He said, "Monoprice. Good cable." And then he went to work. That made me feel even better about this inexpensive cable! Great HD picture, too! I will buy this cable from Monoprice again, when needed.
PROS: Inexpensive. Good Quality. Shipped on time as promised.
