I bought these jacks because of their price and the quality of the Monoprice products I have used in the past. I do NOT recommend these jacks. They are too wide to fit in standard plates and I had to purchase additional jacks to use in place of them. These are clearly a poorly designed product.

PROS: Inexpensive compared to other jacks on the market.
Easy to wire well marked for six-wire telco.

CONS: Oversized along both horizontal and vertical axes. It will not mount next to another keystone horizontally barely mounts next to another keystone vertically.

make sure its just a 2 keystone plate, vertical. because nothing is going in beside these oversized pieces. its just a phone jack, it doesn't need to be huge!

PROS: easy to use/install

It is easy to see when this sort of product is designed by someone who has never held a cable punch tool in their life and has never had to install these in any significant number. First off it is a "keystone" jack, yet you can not have two of these installed next to each other any of the 3+ hole plates. They are too large to accommodate another RJ12, or RJ45 for that matter.



Second, for phone lines, the main line (blue/white-blue) is keyed on the weakest pair of slots - the one on the edge, which does not have a full strength plastic guide, so on about half of these jacks the last plastic tooth broke off after using he punch tool, even when set on the lowest setting. In the meantime, there are THREE other pairs of slots which are much more solid and more suitable for use and which sit unused.



Poor design by someone who did not know what they were doing. Judging from others that have seen these same problems before, I am amazed that Monoprice keeps peddling this junk instead of sourcing a better designed one. Hey Monoprice - It doesn't take much to fix it, really.

CONS: too bulky.I would love to buy this type of jack ,but the problem is when i try to fit multiple jacks of this type in lets say a 4 hole face plate its a super tight fit

They seem to work great. But I found that if you try to use a two outlet plate from another manufacturer with the holes vertically, they don't fit correctly due to the size of the backside where the punch down terminals are. The height of the terminal block is just a few millimeters too tall and will not let the jack above fit correctly in the slot. I found this out when someone stepped on the Monoprice plate and broke it. So I could finish the project, I had to purchase another one and found this out. Otherwise ok. Again, this is with another manufacturers plate. It is not all standard as I thought. No problem. Just a glitch. Otherwise great.

PROS: Price

CONS: Cannot be used with plates from another manufacturer. The back side of the jack is quite bigger than normal.

These jacks were exactly as expected and worked greate for my phone install.

These are clearly labeled and easy to use. I was using cat6e and only had one out of 25 give me any grief(probably due to the wire gage more than anything). All tested good when done.

PROS: Out of the 25 I used on one job, I only had one that gave me any trouble(and that may be due to the thickness of the cat6e that was used). I tested after the install and had zero failures from the punchdown.
Cost over what the local hardware store has is a winner!

CONS: These only really work well in a vertical trim plate. Too big to fit side-by-side in a 4/6 port trim plate. Could not use the Labor Saver punch down "Puck", so it'll be a bit rough on the hands if you are doing a bunch.

I have punched these down all over my house and they all tested well. No complaints.

PROS: SUPER GOOD QUALITY AS DESCRIBED

This jack made my cabling job a nightmare. I had to run 99 cable drops. I wasted so much time trying to punch the wires down ever so carefully so they don't bunch up. You can't just simply punch the wire down onto this jack. You have to carefully make the wire very straight and punch it just right, not too fast not too slow. Many times, the wire just bunches up and does not punch, then you have to cut that part off and try again repeatedly until the wire finally punches onto the jack. This really cost me lots of time and made my cabling job a nightmare. Never again will I order these. (I am very surprised, I purchase lots of things from monoprice, and this is my first time having an issue with an item)

PROS: No Pros. Terrible Item

CONS: Very difficult to punch down wires. Takes many tries to punch.

For those running just 1 pair of wires, use the 2 posts furthest from the port.



The caps falling off is a very minor detail, just make sure they stay on long enough to get the plate screwed into the wall and you don't have to worry about it again.

PROS: Works.

CONS: The caps that slide over the punched down wires tend to fall off fairly easily.

I had touch time with these and Monoprice gave me refund but quality wise these were very good except they were big and probably need more force for insertion.

PROS: Awesome build quality and great value at this price.

CONS: Little big in comparison to RJ45s.

I have been in the Business Phone/Communications Industry since 1981. I have used many many different Brands through out these years. And I am very Happy to say that these are as good or better the then Top brands in the trade, ie ICC, AllenTel, DynaCom and Lucent.

Used these to renovate my basement, using shop vac tubing in the wall with plastic electrical box as the receptor. using the keystone system with an open ceiling allows easy way to fish and change configuration if needed. I recommend this item and other keystone in this line. I used these, the HDMI as well as speaker connectors. all work well.

They're easy to punch down, the covers that hide wires snap on nicely, the jacks are color-coded correctly, and they fit nicely into a keystone jack slot well. In short, they work just like they should.

Good color labeling on the jack and good instructional video on the page.

PROS: Haven't passed data over it yet, but it punched down nicely.
Thicker than the CAT6 punch down keystone jack 5384, but I was still barely able to put it to the side of a coax jack.
It helped to put this in before the coax jack.

CONS: Just being a smidge on the thicker side. Not sure if the width could even be reduced in manufacturing.

When using 2of them in a dual surface housing the cover on my housing does not fit. Had to purchase unique housing for these inserts.

Used this, two other keystones and a three-opening duplex plate to replace an existing single cable wall plate. Played with a four opening duplex plate (with a blank) as well. RF and Cat6 jacks fit well this jack could not be installed next to another (even the RF) on the four-opening plate because of its side "wings". Because of the extra height of the connecting posts, it had to be installed first in the three-gang, and only in the bottom opening, otherwise, the other keystones could not be sufficiently angled to allow installation.

If you are to install it in 1-gang wall plate, there is no issue. If you are to install it with multiple hole plate, you need to pay attention as it may block the hole next to it.

I purchased this with several others to fit in a keystone multi-hole thing. Problem is that it's too wide for anything to be inserted beside it.

Not a bad part for the price. The "white" jacks I ordered compared to the 5e jacks and the plates I ordered and not exactly white, more of a creme color. Also a couple of these had issues where the wire would not stick in the metal spline but instead slumped over it causing a null connection on that pin. This could be a function of the jack or my punch down tool.

Have had some out of box failures as well as tested working with failure later with these jacks. They are cheap... but when I have to do warranty work they get EXPENSIVE fast...
Monoprice needs to find a better and more compact option even at a higher price and I will buy them. I go through about 20-40 per month. I would rather pay $2/ea for quality and fit.


PROS: Inexpensive. Clearly marked with first row for blue pair unlike some that leave first row blank resulting in an occasional oversight miss. Come with post covers.

CONS: Had some failures with this jack.
Too large and will not fit when used in a wallplate or biscuit jack mount that has tight clearance.

Yes, you can punch down wires to them and they work, but they're too large for normal keystone plates. No idea why this 6P6C jack needs to be so large compared to 8P8C jacks, when other brands are normally sized.

If you reasonably experienced then only use these or if they are the only jack in place or two up and down otherwise it is hard to manage these.

PROS: They are reasonably priced and nice quality/build.

CONS: I am having hard time pushing wires. I have installed around 10-12 Cat 6 jacks and they are breeze and these out of 5 I broke 3 and still I am not sure if the connections will stay. I am still browsing for something which is as easy as Cat 6 jacks are. Same exact wire punches easily in Cat 6 Monoprice's keystone jack and in this jack one of the wire is always hard to push.

A good jack if it is being used alone in a wall . But if it is going in a surface mount box...not...

CONS: The overall size is to large.....The jack is to large to put into a surface mount box with the clips installed on the termination points and it is too wide to install 2 of them into a surface mount box together... very disappointing and limiting....

Very bad quality. Every single connector had to be repunched multiple times. Slot for wire termination is missing V-notch on the metal plate, so wire will not slide into the slot but bend over the plate.
Very disappointed.

This jack is too wide/high to fit in keystone plate with 3+ holes. Punching then down is really difficult as the pin inside are loose. You have to carefully punch them slowly, making sure the cable is sitting really straight. Doesn't fit in a conventional puck either.

They are cheap but there is a reason.

Still managed to get all of them working but it was a pain.

It is poorly constructed. The gap to place a wire in to punch it down was non-existent. I gently opened the gap with a small screwdriver, placed the wire into the gap to punch it down (proper punchdown tool, set to low) and the plastic broke. I have experience with punchdown tools and this was not user error.

How is it possible that I can get RJ45 side by side and not RJ11 or RJ12?

Cheaply manufactured rj12 keystones. B W/B did not want to punch down most of the time. I was very disappointed when I had to drive 30 min to get some keystones from HD. I would recommend not getting these as I paid for them twice plus shipping.

Poor design and cheap engineering prevent these from working in standard keystone plates. Save your money and buy elsewhere.

I thought I would get a real 6P6C RJ12 jack for some house phone lines. In spite of the text description and the picture in the product listing, what I received is a flimsy 8pin cat3 rj45 jack. As other reviews say, it is huge -- 23mm wide, compared to the 18mm width of the cat6 jack #5384.
I would return the 3 of them if it wouldn't cost much to ship them back. Very disappointed.
