Headphone Splitter with Separate Volume Controls
Split your headphone or line out signal and independently control the volume levels using this Headphone Splitter with Separate Volume Controls from Monoprice!
This simple 3.5mm splitter allows you to distribute a single audio source to two headphones or output devices. This perfect for allowing two people to listen to the same source or to distribute to two different amplifiers. Each line features an independent volume control wheel, so each person can enjoy the audio at the volume level they prefer.
You can also use this splitter as a means of injecting a microphone signal into the source device. For example, you can plug this into your phone and then use a pair of headphones and a separate microphone for hands free communications.
Note that this should NOT be used to combine two audio source signals into a single input. Doing so could exceed signal strength limits and cause damage to your equipment. The only proper way to combine two audio signals is by using an audio mixer.
PROS: -like the white color
CONS: -the dials are asensitive and the first 1/3 of the spin does all the controlling, last 2/3 doesn't change the output
-when one of the dials gets turned down all the way, the other output instantly jumps up a much louder setting
NOTE THAT THIS IS *4* CONDUCTOR, not just 3. This means that it can work as just a headphone splitter, OR a stereo headphone & microphone splitter. I have one of these in my car so I can plug my MP3 and my phone into my car (via 3.5mm plug), and do conference calls w/o re-wiring all the time. Works great, and lets me balance the volume! WAYYY better than a Bluetooth heaset
PROS: *4* CONDUCTOR (TRRS), not just 3 (TRS) - supports microphone + stereo!!!!
Way less than the competitor's product (which doesn't even have volume controls!)
CONS: Wires are a bit thin - agree with other posters that the plain splitter is sturdier
- a black version would be nice
- a switch to disconnect the extra conductor (ie so plugging a TRS/3-cond. headphone doesn't short the mic to ground, which usually transfers the phone back to the built-in mic)
- there are other splitters for this, but would be cool if it was incorporated into this one
- or, have one of the branches on this one be an 'earphone only' jack (3-cond/TRS)
PROS: Item as described, splits audio signal into 2 lines with seperate volume controls.
CONS: Feels cheaply made, but it was a cheap price as well. Have to leave the volume control all the way up.
PROS: This was the only in line volume control for headphones that I could find.
It works well.
CONS: Only available in splitter (2) mode.
Wire very light, primarily for bud phones.
PROS: - Does what it says
CONS: - Began shorting out in first hour of use
PROS: Reasonable pricing, reasonable shipping cost, quick turnaround.
CONS: Poor quality
PROS: - inline volume control for each of the headphones
- very handy and useful item to share your music
- no negative change in sound quality noticed
- comes in a handy zipper pouch that can be reused to carry the item around
CONS: - none
PROS: Great little accessory for the iPad. Small, easy to use, and sturdy construction.
PROS: I can now share my iPod with another person.
