Monoprice brings custom in-wall speakers to new levels of affordability with our line of Monoprice Brand Premium in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. These new, high fidelity units deliver the high quality craftsmanship and construction you've come to expect from Monoprice brand products at a fraction of what you would expect to pay for them retail.

In-wall and in-ceiling speakers allow you to expand your listening environment throughout your entire home and remove the clutter of giant box speakers, giving you back your living space. It's a win-win, no-compromise situation for those who desire high fidelity and those who put emphasis on decor.

DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber cones are light weight yet extremely rigid, providing very precise audio with minimal distortion from cone flex. Our Kevlar® speakers are matched with an equally precise silk membrane dome tweeter made of titanium fiber thread and a high quality crossover network to ensure high fidelity and low distortion. The lower distortion levels allow the speaker to be driven harder and handle higher peak power levels. The main benefits of our Kevlar® speakers are the clarity and fidelity at which they produce audio.

    • Light & rigid, well balanced, yellow woven Kevlar® cone woofers for distortion free reproduction.
    • Oversized magnets for greater bass impact
    • Precision titanium silk membrane dome tweeters for sweeter highs and pure sonic clarity

Whats the mounting depth for the Caliber 8inch fiber 3way speaker?
    Dennis M on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They have to have at least 3.5 inches depth to clear the magnet and crossover board. More depth is better for sound quality.

Excellent Product - Get em While They're Hot!
I hooked these 7 bad boys up to my Onkyo TX-NR808 and drove them with 130 watts rms per channel. I selected the Full Range setting on the receiver and gave them a spin. I was very impressed and I am hard to please. These speakers replaced high end Klipsch on stands surrounding the room. My wife absolutely hated them. She said they dominated the room (they are now in the man cave hooked up to another home theater system). She was right. So I installed these 3-ways in the ceiling (except for the center channel which was in the wall centered with the monitor). The work involve was well worth it. Now we have a great sounding system and a family room no longer cluttered with speakers. The construction was very solid. The mounting much better than other ceiling/wall speakers I have installed over the years. They even sounded great with the powered subs turned off! Do not hesitate to buy these speakers. Don't cheap out on the speaker wires. Get the 14 gauge monoprice sells. And get more than you think you need because it always takes more than you figured. Buy with confidence.

    PROS: Great Sound
    Well Constructed
    What else do you want?

CONS: Couldn't breathe for 3 days after sucking in all the plaster dust.
I guess I can't blame the speakers for that (wear a mask).

    Great Sound,
These speakers sound great once installed, but you do have to careful of a couple of things.

First, when cutting the mounting hole you should make it at least 1/4" larger than the supplied cut template. The template is an exact fit, but as we all know it's hard to mount in an exact fit. Do you self a favor and cut the hole wider, the flanges are wide enough to cover it.

Second, I strongly recommend that you tighten all the mounting screws to run the threads on all the mounting ears before you mount the speaker. I had three of the mounting ears get off track and bend the screws. Luckily I could use a common dry wall screw as a replacement, but it was a pain.

    PROS: Great sound

CONS: Supplied cut template is too tight, mounting "ears" don't work well

    Great speakers
I finally installed them in our bonus room in-wall, with a lot of insulation. I used the same speaker for LCR and Surrounds. They are completely timbre matched because of this. Movies and music sound great and comparable to more expensive speakers. I suspect that the insulation is important.

I was debating between the 7604 and this speaker and my experience in audio suggested that these would have the best range and performance. However, I was not sure and called tech support. They were not well informed and said both are good. So I purchased one pair of the 7604 as a test version and did an A/B comparison (without having them installed in-wall, i.e. free air) of the 7604 and the 6816. It was patently clear to my ears, and my wife's ears that the three way 6816 was a better speaker and more rounded and fuller. I took the hit on the return of the 7604 and used the 6816 for the five speakers and We were not disappointed.

My system is 7.2 and I used two Monoprice Kevlar ceiling speakers in the rear and two Monoprice 10 inch passive in-wall woofers in front. I boxed the woofers and used ample amounts of fiberglass insulation.

Bottom line the system if great for both movies and music. I have other 2-channel music speakers (box) that cost much more and the Monoprice gets fairly close I suspect that improved crossover components + a mirrored verison will help narrow the gap substantially).

    This is a great product.

PROS: These are great speakers for the price and highly recommended.

CONS: 1) There is a lack of a mirror-image option for Left and Right. This is absolutely a ridiculous omission by Monoprice.

    2) while these speakers are very good. I am disappointed that Monoprice does not offer an enhanced version with superior resistors, inductors and capacitors for the crossover circuit. Many customers, including myself will pay a reasonable premium for this option.

    Amazed by these little guys
For years I have used 8" JBL in-wall speakers for my primary and surround speakers in our family room... and RAVED about them. Of course, at the time they cost me $1,000 for the four speakers so they OUGHT to be good.

Times have changed, we moved to a new (smaller) abode and I had to leave my in-wall speakers at our old house. Being ridiculously low on cash and spousal approval, I decided to give these speakers a try solely based on the reviews of others who claim to be audiofiles.

Installation was straightforward, and I can't tell you how amazed I am at the sound of these little guys. Strong low-end, clear high end and a solid midrange. I would say that they are on-par with my $1,000 JBL's and I only paid $110 total (they used to be $55 per pair).

I can't recommend these enough - even at $100 per pair they are a phenomenal deal.

    PROS: Very inexpensive
    Clear mounting instructions
    Dynamic range is excellent
No more bang for the buck anywhere!

CONS: Can not buy "spare" grills (for painting to match decor)

    8 in walls best value
I never write these. Ever. After reading some of the reviews I had to jump in. I am an audio nut. Been into it for years (multiple decades really). DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THESE. Like most speakers they need time to break in. They replaced Bose sat/sub speakers and are so completely superior it's laughable. Been running them for 6 months and could not be happier.

PROS: Easy Install. Ridiculously great value. Outstanding sound.

    CONS: None

First, these speakers are amazing. For the price there's nothing like them. I bought six of them for a 5.1 setup in my large living room (24x32 with ceilings vaulting to 16'). It's a huge space and I wanted hidden speakers. Thought I would try these as I could throw them away if I didn't like them and only be out a little over $200. Added the monoprice 12" sub and the system rocks.

Install is easy with one exception. When screwing the feet/clamps down they have a tendency to jump out of their tracks and jam. This requires removing the speaker to get them resettled. There's not easy way around it and we ended scrapping one of the speakers all together since we couldn't get it to work at all (we didn't try toooo hard since we had a spare anyway).

The sound of these guys is quite good. Not much bass, but inwalls don't do much with that anyway. And after adding the sub, it doesn't make a bit of difference. They play quite loud before suddenly hitting a wall where they get hard sounding instead of louder. However, I have put them in a very big space and that volume limit is above where I would ever play them anyway.

They are a bit hard to drive. My cheapy one with these speakers and another one with 20K worth of high end gear. After installing these speakers with a new, inexpensive Onkyo amp I was very pleased but got a sense that the amp wasn't doing too well driving them. Just for fun I plugged in a B&K Reference 200.7 amp (200 watts x 7 and $2800) to see what that did. They were MUCH better. Fuller, much more controlled, more impact. But, after putting that amp in the downstairs theater and running the Audessey acoustic callibration in the Onkyo I was still very pleased. Especially since I spent more on cabling in the other theater than I did for speakers/sub/receiver/blu-ray in this one.

One more thing that's worth adding: having five identical speakers creates a fantastically seamless sound. The sound from the center perfectly matches the sides even with the center mounted on its side and under the 50" tv. Front to back sounds seamless too and gives the sense of the sound just being part of the movie instead of being from a bunch of individual speakers. I believe that's the whole point.

When I put on music or movies to test these speakers, I find I just watch/listen to way more than I was intending. That's the whole point isn't it? To get lost in the experience and not pay any attention to "how does this sound?" I think it is.

    PROS: Very good sound.
    Easy to install.
    Heavily built/well made

CONS: Mounting hardware can "jump the track" and get stuck before tight.
Hard to drive. Quality amplification can make a big difference.

These HAVE to be made by a big name MFG...
Installed a complete 7 speaker surround system with Monoprice in-walls, used THESE for the Front L/R. Wall cavity was standard 16 inch on-center 2x4 studs, in front of cement block wall with fiberglass insulation throughout. I was floored by the sound quality when I first got to listen to them, immediately I thought these MUST be made by one of the top manufacturers of in-wall speakers, they just sounded so good, even without a subwoofer, and only an 8" woofer, the bass was impressive. They sound crystal clear at very loud movie levels, even with the wide dynamic range of modern soundtracks, they never sound like they're being overdriven by a 110 watt per channel receiver. I consider myself a harsh critic of sound quality, and these really delivered, even flat out of the gate I was impressed. It may have to do with the wall cavity or the drywall, or another factor other than the speaker, but the fact that they CAN deliver the performance they do...for the price they are...BUY A can't go wrong!

    PROS: Sound Quality
    Ease of Installation
    Quality of construction
    Great features for an in-wall

    CONS: The finicky mounting system

So nice, hated to put them in a rarely used room
My whole house audio speakers consisted of the two way, 8" Monoprice in ceiling speakers and I bought a set of these as I expanded into another room. These sound better than the round two ways but the round two ways sound varies by speaker depending on each location. You can really hear the difference with the extra small woofer of the 3 way. These seem to need a bit more power than the round 2ways as well. Very satisfied and am now debating whether to use these in the ceilings of the next room I'm expanding into versus the round 2 ways. Another handy feature of these that I wished the in ceiling 2 ways had especially since with in ceiling you are working above your head is that the screws to tighten the feet onto the drywall are inset quite a ways. Then if you are using a power screwdriver there is no way you could accidently slip and poke a woofer.

PROS: Attenuation switch is under the grill instead of behind the unit so you don't have to remove it to adjust as you have to with the in-ceiling version.

CONS: I have to put something here and so I'll just say getting the grill off with the speaker removal tool is a bit of a chore. The holes in the grill are difficult to get the tool into without damaging the hole slightly. The grill tool needs to be a fraction thinner. Hardly a real con.

    Quite happy with these
I work in the movie business and care quite a bit about the sound of our home audio system. I was hesitant to buy such inexpensive speakers but after reading the positive reviews here I thought I'd give them a try.

First, very easy to install. The templates are perfect and with a couple of the right tools they drop right in. Mine secured nicely to our drywall.

Importantly: they sound great. In a previous house we had Bowers & Wilkins speakers which are pretty high-end speakers and much more expensive. I was prepared for a significant downgrade with these but I would say the sound is fairly comparable. Paired with a great amp and good quality sub it has a solid sound.

Overall, excellent quality and incredible value. I'd buy these again.

    PROS: Great quality.

    Excellent value.

Easy to install with provided templates.

    They look nice installed.

    CONS: None.

Great Speakers - MonoPrice Delivers Again!
I helped a friend design his 7.1 home theater. He didn't want to spend a lot, so based off my prior experiences with monoprice products, I recommended these speakers. He is not an audiophile, so I was fairly sure these would meet his needs as well as budget. I was so impressed with the sound and build quality of these speakers that I purchased my 9.1 system from monoprice. (Actually I got my sub from somewhere else). I painted the speakers to match the color of the walls and my wife loves the look and sound from them. A note on painting the grills, be careful not to clog the holes in the grill with paint. I used a wagner power painter to spray the speakers. I unhooked the paint sprayer and used the air hose to blow the paint out of the grill holes to keep it from clogging up. If you do this the grills will look great.

They were easy to install, the cutout guides were accurate. I packed the wall with insulation around the speaker to help enclose the space in the wall.

Overall, I would highly recommend these speakers, as they are very good speakers, possibly one of the best values out there. Sure you can get better speakers if you are willing to spend a lot more. However, I consider myself borderline audiophile and I am very pleased with my purchase and have recommended these speakers to several people already.

    PROS: 1. Sound great
    2. Easy to install
    3. Paintable to match the wall color

    CONS: None.
