The answer to the question is relative to listening position. Technically a speaker can be powered by as little or as much power you put to it. There is a max power but there is no minimum power requirement. 25 watts regardless of tube or solid state will power it. The question is will it be enough.. That is up to you and how loud you listen vs how far your seating positions is. Look online for a Wattage requirement calculator for seating position. Some will have headroom which means the sudden loud burst which depending on your music or movie will vary. Use a wattage calculator that has Speaker sensitivity, distance, and headroom if possible. But also keep in mind we generally don't listen as loud as we believe we do. Car stereo's in general are a max of 10 watts and some will blast you out of the vehicle, its loud because of the relative seating distance.

Is it a true 25w or poorly rated level that you will never reach? You will get sound out of the speaker, but 25w is pretty low. I've used an AIYMA A07 and it pushed it pretty well. It's only $60, and I know there are other options, but I would try to find some more power which will help you like these speakers more. If you skimp on the power, you will have to turn up the amp until it clips and will sound terrible. I say find more power, or a smaller speaker to match your amp.

Ok, my speakers in my 7.1 are all 8 ohm, will my Marantz 7013 be able to distinguish these from my other speakers?
A shopper
on Nov 3, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Marantz and Denon are from the same mother company and support 4ohm and up. And you can mix & match. I'm currently running the T6's along side my 6-ohm Sony bookshelves in a 7.2.4 setup on a Denon 3700. Note: It is recommended that you leave your receiver set to 8ohms regardless of what you have connected, or you will reduce the overall power.

The marantz will be able to drive the speaker. However you may note performance issues at high power output as the marantz amplifier struggles to provide adequate power to the speaker. If you listen with high volume consider adding an external 4-ohm amp to drive these.

These are 4 Ohm speakers, your receiver shouldn't "care" and should drive them fine if they are on channels by themselves and your receiver can drive a 4 Ohm load.

In the Full Specs it lists it as 50-180 Watts. The way these speakers are built (high quality for the price) and the fact that you can bi-amp them I wouldn't be surprised to see them be able to handle much more power though.

I measured the opening of the port with my digital caliper just now, and I got 3.50 inches. Of course, that is just the opening. The flare, or rim of the port which creates the flanged type edge which allows the port to be glued/fastened to the enclosure, adds to the diameter of the port as a whole. But 3.50 inches is the size of the ports opening. Hope this helps you out.

Notice that they are 4 ohm speakers. I almost missed that and they would not have worked on my Pioneer Elite VSX-33. Luckily I had already decided to get an external amp anyway so that solved the problem. a 4 ohm speaker on a cheap receiver could cause overheating at high volume or at minimum tripping the protection circuit of your AVR

For those running a subwoofer, what crossover have you setup? The towers themselves don't have enough bass for movies but do better than your average tower so im in the middle at 60hz. Its not quite right for stereo music however.

how long will it take to break-in the speakers?
A shopper
on Oct 14, 2023
BEST ANSWER: It is generally recommended to play them at moderate to high volume for a certain period of time. The duration of the break-in period can vary, I would suggest around 100 hours of use. During the break-in period, it is advised to play music with a large dynamic range, solid deep bass, and a strong high end to push the speakers to their extremes regularly. It is also recommended to use music that you are familiar with, as you will be able to recognize when the speakers start to perform optimally.

As an astonished Encore T5 owner I have to ask, has anyone done an A/B direct comparison between these and the T5’s? I’m using the Encore T5’s in a larger room supported by two Jamo 12” acoustic suspension powered subs and driven with an NAD 375 BEE integrated amplifier. I’m so impressed with the T5’s performance (they can clearly reproduce very close to live performance levels. Simply incredible performance compared to what I’ve owned over the past 50 years) that I am driving myself nuts trying to imagine how much better the Encore T6 would/could be. I’ve owned some excellent speakers, but many were much closer to $2000, than $200. Some outstanding engineering going on at the Monoprice sound source labs! Thanks

Best Floor-Standing Speakers At This Price-Point (or any other for several levels up)
If you are looking to upgrade your home theater, or home stereo, or home audio system of any kind, just stop looking around and pricing things out, and either choose to wait for them to go on sale again (Black Friday sales are right around the corner), or, if you can not wait, and you need something now, still, INVEST IN THESE, and any other Encore series speakers for that matter. I purchased 2 of these and an Encore C6 center channel speaker for my front L-C-R mains, and then I purchased 8 of the Encore B5 bookshelf speakers to use in all my satellite positions, including my Height 1 and Height 2 channels. And let me tell you the honest truth... These speakers certainly would not be worse for the wear if I were to purchase an external integrated amplifier in order to push more power to each speaker, HOWEVER, do not confuse that as me saying they NEED that additional power, because that is absolutely NOT the case! In spite of the fact that on paper, the 4 ohms impedance, combined with their sensitivity, would certainly lead one to assume that these are just another "power hungry" line of speakers, which would require such a great deal of power to sound even close to "decent", that they wouldn't be worth the time and effort unless you were ready to invest in a rather large amplifier, or amplifiers as well. In actuality, that could not be further from the truth! And that is the honest truth! I have mine, along with all the other Encore series speakers I recently purchased, all running together in a 7.1.4 configuration, connected to ONLY my Pioneer Elite VSX LX505 A/V receiver, and a single Russound P75 external integrated amplifier (as connecting the Pre-Outs for my Surr Back channel speakers to external power is required in order to get full Atmos 7.1.4 from the VSX LX505, as it processes 11 channels, but is only capable of powering 9 channels on its own... ) Not a problem at all for me! And for a very reasonable amount of scratch, I have been able to upgrade my HT from 5.1.2, to full 7.1.4! And this includes the WHOLE system, aside from my Monolith M12 V2 twelve inch powered subwoofer, which I purchased about 6 to 8 months prior to these Encore series speakers and my Pioneer Elite AVR.
All told, these speakers sound nothing short of AMAZING, even in their current setup state, with all eleven speakers being powered by a single AVR, and one 75w/ch (@ 4ohms w/ 2ch driven) external amplifier! I regularly work these speakers and my AVR out, either playing current-gen games (on both XBOX Series X and PS5), or watching movies via 4K UHD Bluray, or Streaming using the MAX and Disney Apps on my Google TV 4K streaming box (as these are the best two Apps I have found for streaming 4k content WITH Dolby Vision AND Dolby Atmos), and even listening to music from time to time via the YouTube App mostly, because we have YouTube Premium. And no matter what type of content we may choose to enjoy at any given time, we ENJOY it, and we do so at moderately high, to all together HIGH volumes, cranking the Pioneer to reference level and well above on a regular basis, and for extended periods of time as well! NEVER ONCE, has our new AVR broken stride, or a sweat for that matter! It powers the Encore Series speakers adequately, and nicely! Allowing them to sound nice and crisp and clear, while also maintaining a full-bodied sound-stage, with plenty of low-mid, middle, and high frequency action pumping from each of the Encore Series speakers, while the M12 V2 powered sub, and it's glorious driver, combined with its 500w RMS, DSP controlled power section, handle all the low-end and LFE output beautifully!
I could not be more pleased with ANY purchase, of ANY kind, than I have been with these speakers and our new AVR, truly! It's a rare thing to spend this kind of money, and not wind up with buyer's remorse stemming from any one item, or more, as we live in a world where, as a consumer, the products we purchase so seldomly end up meeting the expectations we may have held for them prior to actually going out on a limb and purchasing them, and then having the opportunity to experience them for ourselves, in our own homes, or where ever.

Great Speaker - but yes, you need more power
First off, the packaging was phenomenal. Down to the bag they were in. Solid feet were machined, not cheap cast. Details matter.
Sound quality is very good. However, these are 4ohm speakers with a good but not fantastic sensitivity of 87.8. If you like it loud you need more juice than your average costco receiver.. The speakers are like the plant from Little Shop of Horrors... FEED ME.
Bass is nice and tight but when does a sub not make things better?
Buying these speakers left me with an expensive round of upgrades. To make me feel like I am really using the speakers I needed a new AVR and amp.
On the bright side, now our bedroom has my the surround system in it.

Thank you for your detailed review of the tower speaker. We are delighted to hear that you are impressed by the packaging, the feet, and the sound quality of the product. We agree that details matter and we strive to deliver the best audio experience for our customers. We also appreciate your feedback on the power requirements of the speaker. We understand that it may be challenging to find a compatible AVR and amp for a 4ohm speaker with a sensitivity of 87.8. However, we believe that the speaker is worth the investment, as it delivers a rich and dynamic sound that fills any room. We hope you enjoy listening to your favorite music and movies with your new speaker and your upgraded system.

Couldn't be happier
These are excellent sounding towers. Couldn't be happier. Needed some good speakers for 2.1 setup in large room where vocals were often getting lost previously. The mids and highs are very good on these. I have them bi-amped to to a Pioneer Elite receiver. The bass is sufficient, but I paired with an in-wall Monoprice sub for a more complete sound. Big improvement and I'm very pleased.

Stop reading and buy 'em
I'm not going to lie and say that I wasn't a bit nervous buying these speakers. The price point is VERY misleading. After watching and reading many reviews on these speakers, I caught them on a phenomenal sale and got the pair for just over $500 taxes & shipping included. I figured it wasn't much money lay out and they have a decent return policy.
These things are not going back.
They are replacing some old Paradigm LCRs and WOW!!!!
These speakers are amazing.
Before buying these speakers, I replaced my old paradigm pdr-12 sub with a svs pb-2000, still using the LCRs, but I still lacked the mid bass punch and weight for my music. I replaced the left and right LCRs with these Encore T6s running through a Onkyo TX-NR646 and BOOOOM!
Quite literally, these things do not need a subwoofer to get satisfying bass. Highly recommended.
P.S. Room I'm in is about 22ft x 16ft

Very impressed!
I recently purchased this speaker, primarily based on the review by Audiolics.com. I have really been enjoying how two of them sound in my 2-channel stereo setup. They are powered by a Yamaha A-S801 integrated amplifer (100 watts per channel at 8-ohms). The amp is good at driving 4-ohm loads. It is a great pairing with these speakers! I primarily listen to PC USB audio or CD/SACD/vinyl recordings. I highly recommend these speakers for lstening to music. I can imagine they would function very well in a small to medium sized home theater as the fronts!
One of the better sounding speakers I have owned!

Low power requirement for nice loud speakers.
Nice sound. I am powering them with a small amp so I can't give the best review but even with this little amp they put out good sound. I got a 10" powered subwoofer to pair with them and all together they are great. I have a feeling most people wouldn't be satisfied with a 6" subwoofer even with a good amp. But as woofers the 6" speakers work really well.

Great Value Towers
Fantastic Speaker. I ended up getting rid of my Klipsch R-625FA towers after listening to these. Driving with a 150W 4-ohm rated amp, much better mid and low range, still needs a subwoofer to help. Currently have the low cross over set to 80Hz.
Premium build quality of these speakers, cabinets feel very sturdy and I like the all metal feet with adjustable pegs for wood floors. The bi-amp feature is nice but seems unnecessary at this price range. The tweeter design does make positioning important, you cant just put these next to your AVR and point them straight, should experiment with toe in as it improves your sound stage significantly.

Punch way above
Powering these with a Kenwood KR-9600 in a stereo configuration.
They take a little listening to break in, think this is typical of any speaker. They don't sound bad out of the box, they just continue to sound better and better.
By listening to them and the build quality if you said they cost $2000, Id believe you. At their usually price in the $400s, they are a deal. On sale in the $200s a steal.
The speaker grills are not the most sturdy but clip on is solid. Grasping from around the clip gives me better confidence when removing.
The overall construction is well built and no rattles at high volume. The base feet are sturdy and include carpet spikes.
The high, mid range is smooth and clear, bass is there due to the rear porting. If you like a heavier bass, I would run with a sub. These are just tower speakers, they can only produce so much.
They arrived quickly and were packaged very well, I highly recommend these.
