Can you use RCA cables or just XLR cables?

Can the woofer be turned to the side so its not pointing out to the front? I don't think I'm getting buy in from the wife for something sticking out 2 feet. 17 inches she would probably go for.

Yes indeed, sideways works fine - as mine is. It really is quite large (better than I anticipated) so it really needs to be sideways for most people, I imagine. And being a sub, the sound is non-directional so it sounds great. Actually, this beast sounds amazing! It roasts the Klipsch 12" reference series sub I had, both in thump, but more importantly, in the clarity of the lower registry. It's not just a rumble-maker, it really adds more clear tone to whatever you listen too. I was so impressed, I picked up the 8" reference sub for my office and it's also a stunner. Monoprice is really doing it right, and for a good price.

With proper placement subwoofers or any low frequency speakers are not affected by orientation. Example would be a down firing or passive radiator type.
So to answer no shouldn't matter. I will note this thing is very large I use it as a endtable

You can mount it, hang it, slide it sideways…. Do whatever you want. In the end is down to the acoustics of your room will dictate how it needs to go. This is not a device with a primary function of aesthetics.

As long as you are leaving some clear space in front of the woofer and the ports, I wouldn't hesitate to rotate it to make room for it. I would definitely choose that option over downsizing altogether.

They are front portes so ideally you want the ports facing outward. Also if you turn them to the side you will see the power and RCA cables.

Mostly just louder, they are both large subs the 10 will definitely be smaller in size for a bedroom but its still quite large at 73 pounds. Honestly depending on the size of the room etc I would go with an even smaller one, but that's just me as my bedroom is pretty small.

Yes, the M-12 is significantly louder. That said, even an M-10 will be overkill for a bedroom if the program source is just music. If you have an AV theatre in your bedroom then the M-10 would be an outstanding investment. Highly recommended

M-12 is louder (4db) with dual ports means more room pressure so you feel the base more.
M-13 is recommended for a room upto 3000 sqf.
M-10 is recommended for a room up to 2000 sqf.

I am considering adding/upgrading another sub to my 7.2.4 TX-RZ3100 system. My current front sub is an SVS 2000 Pro (12") and the rear is an older, mismatched Boston Acoustic (10"). They actually sound good together, but I want to add a little more oomph and balance. Will this Monolith 12 V2 give me similar performance and match-up as well as another SVS Pro2000? There is a significant price savings. I will be giving up the SVS's app adjustability but the receiver itself along with the unit should be suffixient.

Have tried A few Polks Klipsh and Bose… this one is way above all those… but again it’s not a real comparison. Buy the best Monoprice that you can afford and have space for. A friend of mine had twin 15inches and when you entered his house you just started feeling good… you know why… the sweet bass… that moved you and you felt it deep inside

BEST ANSWER: I have a hardwood floor and used a small piece of carpeting under it. The sub is so massive (100 lbs), and the cabinet so rigid, that there is no vibration that would couple to the floor. The carpet allows you to slide the sub for adjustments, protects the floor, and minimizes any possibility of a buzz.

BEST ANSWER: Why would it not be recommended to run a THX subwoofer in sealed? They sound fantastic sealed, but as in all sealed designs, there is a significant drop in output compared to running it in ported mode. Monolith M-12 v2 is a Beast!!!!!!!
After "coveting" these subs for about a year or so. I finally pulled the trigger and got them for a low $699.98 each!! I've never seen them at the price point so I had to have two of them. They were intended to replace my four Polk Audio psw505 subs. But I decided to keep all six in the mancave. I placed the Monoliths up front and the Polk Audios in the rear. All I can say is WOW! These Monoliths are just bass monsters. They not only put out bass you can hear but also feel! The Monoliths are definitively more capable subs and have a much greater bass output than my Polk 505s. They are definitely one of my favorite upgrades to the mancave thus far.

Monolith 12" THX is awesome
What a great sub along with great value. My system ROCKS with this thing. I turned it off just to see how much it contributes and i could not live without it and I have high end speakers set to 80htz. As soon as they put them back on sale I am grabbing a second. Great job Monolith!

Love this sub!

BEAST!!!
This thing is a BEAST! I love it. Watched several videos before I pulled the trigger and ordered it, and I can't be happier, unless I get one more.... Great subwoofer for the money.

Love it!

Truly monolithic?
?Monolith? is such an appropriate name for these subwoofers. Their size is substantial, yet due to their somewhat spartan design characteristic neither my wife nor myself mind it too much - which was my goal. I bought this subwoofer to replace an SVS PB12-Plus (which is a tall and intruding cylinder sub) that I bought a few years prior. It was a carryover from a previous home and the new, larger room uses less conspicuous in-ceiling speakers, so having something that could still fill the room with sound, yet not stand out quite so much was ideal. Needless to say the Monolith isn?t a small sub, BUT it is far less obnoxious than the one it replaced and the absolutely effortless sound it puts out is next-level. It is able to reach deeper than the SVS ever could and does so at much greater volumes. This sub exceeds all necessary metrics for this room by a decent margin and likely won?t be replaced anytime soon. For the money I can?t imagine anything shy of a DIY build can compete.

Expectations and Results
This product spectacularly "exceeded" my expectations. All categories, from price, packaging, shipping, build quality and sound fall into the "exceeded" category. No regrets and HIGHLY recommended!

Monolith 12
The monolith 12 will completely blow you away with its performance. I would love to have 4 of these bad boys but the wife won?t approve. I have 2 monolith 10s pair with this and it is amazing. Took a little bit to get everything calibrated. I love it. I?m a loyal fan!

Beast
Sound is amazing. Completely changed my theater and music experience. Powerful enough to fill my 3300 ft3 room. I do find it odd that I have to turn the gain knob all the way up but that could be my receiver or the fact that I have it on a 30' cable. Also wish there was a power light on the front. But those are minor quibbles. Vast improvement over the Klipsch SPL-120 that I tried but had to return due to a defect.

Glad it's not bigger!

Great subwoofer for the price point!
I read the reviews before purchase. It's huge, heavy and hits hard. I too noticed all the notes my old subwoofer wasn't hitting. I don't regret the purchase.
