Are the grilles magnetic?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: Yes, a single cloth grille is held in place by magnets. The photos show peg holes for the grille but they are not actually present in the product as delivered. The grille covers the entire face of the sub.

BEST ANSWER: You can increase the gain control on the subwoofer all the way and utilize the sub volume on your receiver and or processor. Our gain structure on the amplifier is different than most brands due to meeting THX requirements.

I set mine to extended mode with one port plugged. I set the volume to about 12 o’clock. I let my receiver calibrate the sub. You will have to re run your set up mic..I haven’t had any issues besides noise complaints after adding this sub along side the SVS pb16. Try to turn the sub volume down as much as you can before you re calibrate your sub or subs. Then u can always turn them up manually after calibration.

I had this concern when I got mine a few months ago. It helps to get a splitter and use both inputs. Even with that, You have to run the gain higher on both your receiver ‘s sub setting and on your sub than what you’re used to. Don’t worry, it will make plenty of amazing bass.

Look at avsforums monolith subwoofer
Yes use both lines, here you can go to +6-15db setting easily so don’t be shy, third make sure you are not sitting A null spot to your sub position and phase is set correctly, this is a beast by every measure against the klipsch enjoy!

I found that with the RCA cables, if I don’t plug in the connection all the way on the subwoofer, the signal is better. You could try plugging it in all the way, sending a signal and slowly pulling out the RCA to see if this works for you.

I increased the output from my receiver. The sub/amp can handle plenty, but I also found it odd that the input gain was so low. I had to boost it by 6-9dB to get decent levels.

Hi Mono price friends..,,I am soon ready to make a subwoofer upgrade. I am debating this 16” single sub vs. the M15 dual 15”…. Specs are similar, rms and peak are similar, and low end extension are similar. On sale, they are very closely priced. Space not really an issue…meaning I will make the dual work , if there is a definite plus to going that direction. I’m pretty knowledgeable with home audio, so looking for the details from you that I can’t get in specs , but I would get if I was able to do a side by side comparison. ? Thank you

That is a very good question. I'm running the 16" and basically had the same question you have. The 16" does have a bigger footprint, yet stands taller, so if space was an issue it would be better probably to go with the dual 15".
Far as performance goes a single 16" is incredible. Initially, I was adjusting it manually with crossover and gains, however decided to leave it in THX mode and have the receiver control the Subwoofer Output and LFE.
I got the 16" to replace my Velodyne HGS 15, which is still an amazing Subwoofer, however the 16" monoprice output is unmatched and it actually goes lower in frequency than my HGS 15.
I'm very, very confident that no matter what option you go with, dual 15, or single 16 you will be blown away.
Just FYI, the subwoofer with cause bass to travel very far, so if you live in a home with good space between houses, you may not bother your neighbors too much.
The sub is unbelievable, so just get either one, or both.

How big is the room? How high are ceilings and what is the square ft? How open is it to other rooms? Are you primarily cinema at reference volumes? Or music? You may be able to get away with one 16 depending on answers, but if you have a lot of air to pressurize and space is not an issue I would personally do the 2x 15s every time!

It’s more of an open space family room, with one primary area (think of one corner of the big space) that is the theatre area. 8 ft ceiling height. Total basement family room is probably 30 by 30, with the “theatre area” about 16 by 16. I was running 4 older smaller subs, 2 in front and 2 in rear of the theatre area ( not whole large space) think paradigm ps-1000. I sold these and want larger/more power …..1 am starting with one right now ( whether 1-16” ultra or 1-M215. ). Will add a second to match next year …so end game will be 2-16”, or 2-M215 eventually.
Mostly movies, but my front towers do very well for 2 channel music. ( Golden ears triton one)
Anyone else seeing some of the details on you tube around reliability issues of the flagship monolith subs? Thoughts? Are they valid. ? Bit of a concern if they have problems soon after arrival.

I think that if you want more punch, get the dual 15. But if you are going for more sub 20hz, get the 16". Get 2 of the 16" if you have room and money.

Hello Noppadol,
The sub will not be able to use a 240v power outlet, it’s only rated for 100-120v AC. For this to work you will need a plug adapter and a step down transformer to go from 240v to 110v.

BEST ANSWER: You could as the cabinet would be able to support it. I would suggest removing the feel from the one that would go on top, as it will dimple or divot the finish of the subwoofer below.
Ultimately, I wouldn't suggest you stack them. You be better off using a second 16" placed elsewhere in the room to smooth out bass response.

satisfying bass output at absurd volumes
I ordered the monolith sub to complement my existing SVS PBUltra, and although the SVS cost 30% more, the monolith behemoth produces satisfying bass output at absurd volumes. The Monolith rivals the SVS in low-frequency performance, if not surpassing it. However, I wish Monolith integrated modern usability touches, like the front LCD, remote, and app you get with the SVS and other premium subwoofers.

Don't hesitate. Buy it immediately.
Gobs of power. Plays insanely low. Be prepared to find and silence all the rattles in your home.
Input gain a little low, need to bump sub pre out on your AVR. Did audyssey on my 3800, then bumped sub to +6db, with sub gain knob on +6.
Couldn't be happier. Handles Dolby Atmos at reference level with headroom to spare.

Great Deep Bass
Using in a 16' x 20' room. This speaker provides excellent deep bass for my home theater system. It is combined with a Klipsch 12" sub running from a Yamaha TSR-7850

Monster Monolith 16inch subs!
Beast of subs . Lots out crazy output. . The 2k watts don't disappoint. I went dual from the start because I have a huge 2 story tv room so lots of area to fill . I'm blow away . The subs are super capable with excursions deep so in other words these speakers move some crazy air

Loud and and detailed bass with one annoying exception
I have two of these subs and they are oustanding and the output is absolutely biblical! I use mine in all the default THX settings with all ports open (receiver is Denon with sub trim set to 0.0dB) in a 17x20 dedicated theater room.
They handle anything I can throw at them with ease without any chuffing or weird mechanical noises. For example, it doesn't even break a sweat during the opening scene (frequency sweep) of "Edge of Tomorrow", it actually scared me a little bit the first time I played it, lol.
One of my favorite movies to watch with these subs is Ford V Ferrari. The bass is so detailed (textured?) you can feel the engines rumble and the cars on the track. It's an aboslute outstanding watch with these subs.
I'm using my subs with Y input cables and haven't had any issues with them being too quiet.
Size wise they are large, but if you get carpet slides on the bottom they are super easy to maneuver and move around so that hasn't been a concern for me.
Now for the one annoying exception. The subs both of them emit a slight pop when coming out of standby and for the price point I don't think they should do this.
To Monoprice's credit, they did RMA new subs for me and the replacements did it as well. What's strange is that they will do that when nothing is connected to them. In this case, I touch the end of the RCA cable to make them come out of standby and they both pop. Pretty dissapointing.
However, for how good the bass is, I can deal with it.
Regarding the RMA process, this is something to be aware of. If you buy these subs you will need to keep all the packaging for the duration of the warranty. Currently Monoprice does not ship parts for these subs. They will RMA the entire sub. However, go to YouTube and from the Channel "Youthman", watch his video titled
"FIRST LOOK at the Monolith 13 THX Ultra Subwoofer - Unboxing & Overview"
The way he unboxes the sub makes unboxing (and reboxing) these subs a breeze.
I'm hoping in the future they'll start shipping parts, but just wanted to add that here.

The Best 2022 Subwoofer Beside a DIY
Hands down, this is the best subwoofer if you are not into building your own subwoofer. The fit and finish is perfect. The packaging was double boxed and came in on a half sized crate. It weighs about 190 lbs. If you need help, there a thread on AVS Forum on how to take this one upstairs effortlessly. Basically, leave it in the box or styrofoam, and using two wood close post hangers or metal sticks, straps, and carry it on your shoulder like people carrying buckets of water in Asian. Minimum 2 people required.
As for the sound, superb, very low, and very clean with lots of headroom. It's a steal when it is 15% off (1823 shipped). It's also OK for sale and regular price for those that can afford it.
I highly recommend this sub. Get 2 of them if you can afford it. It will likely be more than a decade before anything of the same size will beat this subwoofer.
If you want something bigger, you need to head over to the AVS Forum and look at the DIY section.

Residential seismic simulator in a box
This thing is a beast. Make sure to measure any stairwells, hallways, door openings, etc. and I highly recommend leaving it on a couple sheets of cardboard if you need to do the sub crawl dance. Or just buy multiple subs, it?s probably easier. Showing this off with 1917 or Tron Legacy makes me giddy. Ask forgiveness not permission.
