If you have 2 computers connected, how do you choose which computer you want to use?

BEST ANSWER: This is not a KVM switch, it is a network switch. Everything connected to it will be "on" at all times. Think of this as an extension cord for a router, so you can run one ethernet cable from your router to another room, then use this to connect multiple devices there.; however, all the network management (like setting port forwarding or static IPs) would still be done at the router.

You can use both computers. As long as the 5port is connected to the router and the computers are plugged into either the router or 5port they will both work at the same time. All the 5port is really doing is extending the number of Ethernet ports on the router.

You just use the computer you want to use. This is a networking device. It will allow the computers to communicate over Ethernet. It does not serve as a switch in the sense that it changes between the computers (or devices) attached to it.

Port 1 goes to your ISP. Plug your 2 computers to any free port. They will work simultaneously.

This is a network switch, not a KVM switch.

Probably not, most IP cameras require the use of a POE switch.

To confirm this is what I think it is. I can have 2 laptops connected to the network via this? One outlet will connect to the Main Ethernet coming out of the wall and I can then connect an Ethernet cable from this to each device?

As advertised
Do a minor tech change for our office and needed a multi-port switch. No need for frills- works as needed

Does what it was designed to do
For me, I had one network cable to my router but, needed to support both a cabled IP phone device and a laptop that stays put. With a cement wall between the lap top and the router, wireless simply was not reliable for the lap top and so, my purchase of the Switch. Yup, I now have three cables instead of one but, I had the physical room for that. The switch itself was surprisingly small. Literally fits in the palm of my wife's hand

Works well
This is not a glamorous product, but it works very well and it is simple, plug in the electrical supply, plug in your internet connection, and plug in multiple internet outputs.

Great value, plug, play, and forget.
Great value, easy setup. I wish it had the input port on the back side, small potatoes compared to the value! Running my Apple TV and a finicky solar monitoring unit on two of these. No issues at all.

Didnt work well for my configuration
I replaced my TP-Link with this switch. Had high hopes however the throughput dropped by 75%. Returned it and stuck with what I had.
