Do they have deep bass?
A shopper
on Sep 25, 2022
BEST ANSWER: While you can’t expect major volume of bass, I’m actually very impressed at the low end frequencies these produce when properly seated in your ear. I listen to anything from rock to bluegrass to EDM and I’m happy with the clean and pure sound from bass through treble. You can dial it in with the SoundID app if you want to tweak something.

I find that bass response is quite good, serving the music. How deep? Without equipment used in labs, I cannot give more than my subjective experience. The sound is very good on a variety of music from jazz to rock to classical.

I think that depends on what you mean. The bass is good, but so are all the frequencies. I don’t think the bass is boomy or out of line. It’s there, in good proportion to the sound.

Yes, in my ears the bass is sufficient. It does not sound boomy (which is good) but this is not the bass you will feel with 15 inch 1500W amplifiers.

Does the ANC work if you aren't playing music or don't even have your cell phone turned on because all you want is quiet?
Larry S
on Oct 10, 2022
Yes! And it works very well. I use them this way sometimes when I have a headache. Very low static sound, not loud like a white noise machine or anything. Reduces the volume of voices only slightly, but very effective for background drone, like an airplane, or the office. I also use these while mowing the lawn as they significantly reduce the drone of the mower.

I have used mine that way for short periods so I can’t be certain that the earbuds won’t power off after a time with no input. But note that the ANC is not very strong: you’ll get a reduction of noise, but you won’t get quiet. For that you have to pay a lot more.

No. I believe the Active Noise Canceling is done by the earbud when it is connected to your phone. If you have them connected but not playing any audio from the phone it probably still does work. (Monoprice should be answering this question. lol!)

My left dropped out once while about 20min into listening. The ANC and pass through still worked though, which I thought was weird. Like you could hear it announced even though their was no music audio at that time. I had to put them back in the case and take them back out for them to both work again.

Are the controls customizable? For instance, could I change it to play/pause with one tap instead if 2?

BEST ANSWER: The short answer is: "Probably not..." Monoprice doesn't offer a customization utility. There are programming utilities on the Web for the Qualcomm QCC5124 used in these earbuds, but they're pretty technical, and user-hungry, without a lot of study, you're much more likely to brick your earbuds than change a 'feature.'

Haven't flown with these yet, just bought them after my last trip. But I can say that the difference between ANC and "Off" options is quite apparent, even more than the ANC to Ambient Sound. I would expect that they stand as equals or better to my Sonic Solace Earphones (item 16219), that are absolutely amazing on the plane.

Not that I have been able to. In fact to be honest these have been the most problematic earbuds I’ve owned to date. Multiple times if I have them in my hand they make calls to random people in my contacts & they have done the same thing to my wife. I love Monoprice products but I would not buy these again nor can I recommend them to anyone for a number of reasons.
I found it kind of funny that I purchased them in 2021 but the date number on them said 2015. From day one I was like “if that is the date these were made then these are behind in tech from the day I opened the box”. I haven’t looked into if that’s the case or not but after using them I’m beginning to think it to be the date after all.
For the price look at other brands for earbuds. I honestly like the Monoprice $12 earbuds better. Lighter, more comfortable & sound almost as good for basic listening while I work. Plus if you break them you’re out only $12.

What does "20 hours in reserve" mean?
A shopper
on Jun 11, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The case itself charges the earbuds and it has about a 20 hours reserve. So you get the full duration of the earbuds power plus the reserve that charges the earbuds each time you place the earbuds into the case. Of course once the reserve power is dissipated from the case you have to plug that bug in the wall to "recharge it." Note, I have gone through several earbuds ranging in value from inexpensive $20 to over $200, these surpass ALL of them!

Great sound, has bugs
First of all, the sound quality is excellent compared to the $20 pair I was using off of Amazon for the last few years (and honestly, those weren't bad either). I love premium audio but have always settled for cheap/mediocre sound quality when it came to earbuds. These blew me away after the SoundID calibration tests were uploaded.
The ambient mode is awesome for being able to hear your surroundings while listening to content. I wish the ambient noise cancellation feature was better but it is just ok. I didn't expect what people describe from using Air Pods but I hoped for a better cancellation factor than these offer. It's just ok.
The reason for the 3/5 stars is because while the sound quality is excellent, I have already had about 4-5 incidents where one earbud simply loses connectivity or starts stuttering and breaking up while the other earbud is playing normally. I have to put it back in the case and then take it back out and it starts working fine again.

Good Value
Balanced sound profile, excellent Bluetooth, comfortable to wear. Too bad they have been discontinued.

Liked them overall but ANC is lacking
For my use case, noisy work environment, the most important aspect was ANC and unfortunately these fell pretty flat. I hardly notice any ANC when using it. I ended up buying another brand that was actually cheaper that had better ANC. I do use these everywhere else besides work though.

Look good, inconsistent reliability.
They look great and have a nice variety of ear plugs to match your ear. When they work, they sound good, too. The pair I got has a habit of crashing and cycling through power, though. It's not consistent, happening on both my phone and computer. If it was consistent, it would be an instant return. Some days it will work flawlessly. Very strange ear buds.

Left One Works Great At Least
Ordered these just over two months ago and the first few times everything worked fine but no anytime I try to connect the left one works fine while the right one sounds like the following: "Bluetooth device now aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh"
So it just stutters and cannot pair/connect with anything. I'm hoping this is just a bad set but really disappointed since they were not cheap either.

Sound cancellation works great. Just ask my wife. Oh wait, I can't hear her.
Never had a earbuds before so I can't really compare but these sound fantastic. Easy to pair. Simple touch controls and lots of battery life. Monoprice I've has never let me down. Best bang for the buck out there. Thanks again.

Fantastic Earbuds at a Fantastic Price!
These have great sound, are durable enough for the gym and have good noise cancellation! These are every bit as good as the major brand ones I received with my phone purchase and these cost 1/4 of the price. I love these!

Better than most I have tested, even at twice the cost.
Good sound. Better range from my Bluetooth sources than competitors and fits my ears relatively well.

Really really good sound
I really didn't want to buy these, but when they went on sale for $49, felt that twisting pressure on my arm and had to succumb. And very glad I did, significant upgrade over the MP True Wireless I was previously using when walking/hiking. Much better bass, and more transparent high end -- haven't dialed them in with the Sound ID software, just out of the box sound very good. Looking forward to taking the time to get them set up completely, but highly recommend.
