Does the Monoprice SB-200SW Premium Slim Soundbar automatically turn on and off when you turn your TV on and off? Also, can you control the soundbar volume with the TV/Roku remote? Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, if you connect it to the TV using hdmi and the TV port you connect it to supports ARC.
It can't directly be controlled with the TV remote, but connecting via ARC will allow the TV to control the bar's volume.

We have two of the SB-200SW units, and both seem to turn on very shortly after the TV is turned on. Yes, you are able to adjust the volume of the soundbar output using the TV/set-top-box remote.

The soundbar itself can connect to bluetooth , it does not need to be connected directly ( wired) to device you are using. The subwoofer also uses bluetooth , and has bluetooth connection with the soundbar. The only wires needed are the power plugs to power both the subwoofer and soundbar. You could also wire the soundbar to device if preferred via optical or hdmi arc connect. The subwoofer again is purely bluetooth from the soundbar. This system is a great buy for the price ,and is highly recommended.

Yes. The wireless speaker is a subwoofer, but it does connect over Bluetooth to the soundbar, and it does have a pairing button. I have not tried pairing it to a different device, but I would expect it to only work as a subwoofer if you did.

The sub is wired to the soundbar, and you can connect to the soundbar with bluetooth. If you're sending TV sound to the soundbar you'll probably connect that with another cable (which I do) but send music from my phone to it with bluetooth.

The speaker bar is only wireless if you connect to it with your Bluetooth source. Otherwise, it's wired via HDMI, optical and coax. The subwoofer connects to the bar through wireless.

BEST ANSWER: Just plug it in it will work automatically. The only thing to be sure of is to make sure that you have your source material broadcasting in to channel stereo as this is a two channel sound bar. If it is broadcasting in five or 7.1 surround you won’t hear it properly

That's not true. I wrote this question with the intention to answer it myself to help others, but apparently Monoprice doesn't let you answer your own questions.
I added a review with all the settings you need to change on the Vizio TV to get this to work. Here's a summary:
On the Vizio TV remote, hit Menu then select "Audio". Disable the TV speakers and make sure the output is set to "PCM" (not bitstream).
After you do that, go down to "System", select "CEC" and enable "ARC Only".

I hooked my soundbar up to TCL series 6 TV. TV had an HDMI PORT specified for ARC. If your TV has HDMI ARC port, HDMI cable from that port to HDMI port on back of soundbar. That's it. The TV should detect soundbar on HDMI ARC port and it should work fine.

I did not receive any wall mounting brackets and there are definitely no signs on the back or bottom of the sounder that indicate this can be mounted anywhere. There is nothing in the user manual either indicating that the sound bar can be mounted or that it should NOT be mounted. I did buy this because I thought it could be mounted. Now I need to get creative.

Every speaker system must have either a passive or an active (that can be adjusted by listener's preference) crossover. This speaker has a passive one. For the QUALITY bass separation between the bar and the sub: this is up to your standard since different people have different tastes.

My tv does not have an HDMI ARC, just HDMI 1 (SBT) and HDMI (DVI). Can I still use a sound bar without ARC?

BEST ANSWER: Sure. You can connect it with either the 1/8" plug or the optical connection. But you'll only be able to control volume with the supplied remote. I recommend the 1/8" plug because the system automatically recognizes the TV audio with it, but not the optical connection--it needs to be turned on manually each time the system is turned on or comes out of pause. The system sounds very good.

Can you split the audio signal that goes to the sound bar into another speaker set? I would use a splitter to add the audio signal to another set of speakers

Your TV must be compliant with HDMI 1.4 or later and must also support HDMI CEC features.

BEST ANSWER: One Samsung set I installed this soundbar with, turns the power of the soundbar on and off by HDMI. A lower tier Samsung set I have will not, nor does it provide audio out on HDMI. So it depends on your television. Look in the television advanced settings if there are adjustments for controlling external devices. Some newer smart TVs may detect and provide that function automatically.

Auto off, but not auto on. If it detects audio on the HDMI, it should turn on/turn back on if it goes into standby.

Yes, if you first connect and set up the soundbar and the TV via HDMI ARC; then perform the setup ( learn ) between the TV and the Directv remote. It should work altogether.

The remote only has the 3 EQ presets (News, Movie, & Music) which does alter the bass response a little, but there are no controls letting you customize bass and treble to your liking.

Good Value, Excessive Bass
Works Great for our living room area. The sound is getting better as the sound bar speakers are breaking in. As mentioned by other reviewers, the bass can be overwhelming so I usually keep it in news mode and have placed a small piece of packing styrofoam in the subwoofer opening, which seems to help. Otherwise, I'm happy with this purchase, especially at its price point.

Good enough for the price
Get used to not having any controls other than volume, source, and power. When not in use for ~15 minutes it will shut off on its own, no way to disable this... and when it inevitably does shut off due to inactivity the paired subwoofer will not reliably turn back on with it (I have to turn it on/off at least once if not more to get it to come back on and connect and it's 3 ft from the sound bar).
All in all decent quality sound with a bit of blowout at times, not bad for the price but I wouldn't buy it again unless it went on sale.

No mounting method
The sounds is good enough for the price. Only thing that's somewhat an issue is that there aren't any mounting holes or method to mount on wall or TV.

SB 200SW
Sound is good, the wireless sub connects, it was glitchy under a nightstand approx 12 ft away (understandable). Working very well for our bedroom. If you had to nit pick a sub level on the remote would be a perfect 10. She gets heavy but I love it! I put it in 'News' mode for the wife, practically no bass. Ads that play 3x louder than they should it becomes annoying. Make sure your HDMI cable is newer format as an older one will not function. Do recommend it over the Klipsch I have in another room.

Good sound bar for a small apartment
Sounds good in my little apartment with my little TV. A solid performer. Subwoofer fits very neatly (height-wise) into the IKEA Kallax shelves I use as an entertainment center.

Great Sound bar for the money!!
One can find sound bars costing hundreds of dollars more than this one but....All I wanted was a little better sound from my TV. This delivered way more than expected!!
I can't see why I would need or want to "upgrade".
This is perfect for my family room needs.

Simple and impressive
The sound bar setup was plug and play easy! The sub setup was as simple as plugging it in! From having it used for TV and music streaming via Bluetooth, I couldn?t be happier. I?m no audiophile, but I do like great sound? and I am fully impressed.
