do the 2 outlets work totally independent of one another? I want to use this in a gazebo on my deck. Plugging in a fan and lights. Via Alexa, if I say "turn on patio lights", will ONLY the lights go on? Same for the fan..

BEST ANSWER: Yes, the two outlets work independent of each other. I've only used it from my phone app, but you are able to name each outlet uniquely so I imagine Alexa will know which is which. So far the unit has worked well. Took a few tries to get the setup right.

Can each outlet have its own identifier? ie: #1= fan and #2 = lights, so via Alexa, I can say "turn on the fan" and ONLY the fan will turn on, or "turn on the lights" and only the lights will go on? I want to use this in a gazebo on my patio.

Does this work on 5GHz WiFi?
Roman M
on May 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Buried in the back of the user manual "Radio Frequency - 2.4GHz, Supported Network Profiles -802.11 b/g/n."
So, no it doesn't look like this unit has 5GHz capabilities - which is a PITA if 2.4GHz is saturated in your neighborhood, but makes sense given its low bandwidth use & how badly 5GHz gets attenuated by walls & screens.

My ISP tech reminded me that "5g" and "5GHz" are two different things. "5g" refers to cellular transmission. Stitch uses wi-fi - not cellular. My router puts out both frequencies ( 2.4GHz and 5GHz) simultaneously, so the unit should see the 2.4GHz signal and work, I'm told.

I bought a new router for my WiFi. I saw nowhere in the Stitch App to pair to a new WiFi, so I uninstalled it, thinking I’d be able to simply reinstall it by pairing with the new WiFi. However, when I did that, this no longer shows up in the App, and the App tells me to hit the reset button, but this device has no reset button. How do I pair this with the app?

BEST ANSWER: First, the on/off button is also the reset button. Press and hold it for 5 secs or more to resent the device. Second, make sure the network you are looking to connect with is 2.4ghz (not 5). Finally, be sure to use the most up to date device. I have an older ipad but can only connect to devices with my newer iphone. Hope that helps.

Are the specs strong enough for an above ground pool?

BEST ANSWER: The maximum current for each plug is 10 amperes, you'll need to check the aerator/heater unit and see what its power draw is - to allow enough capacity, I'd use 1200 watts as a maximum load.

I should of specified it but i'ts for the water pump, just a regular one
Alain -
The principle is still the same, there should be an identification plate on the electric motor that drives the pump. A commercial motor will list its amperage draw, and any draw less than 8 amps should be OK.
Pumps are a little tricky to size for because the motor will have a fairly high startup draw as it begins to push the liquids through. A motor rated for an eight ampere current draw could draw more current at startup depending on how the water circulation is configured so this unit would have a 20% current capacity margin.
If the pool pump turns on and then runs for as long as you're using the pool then this switch should be OK. If the pump stops and starts often then the repeated cycling might stress switch's controller.

True enough. The only problem that I ran into, but eventually solved, was that since my router puts out both 2.4GHz AND 5GHz wi-fi signals simultaneously, the Stitch application would not populate and add the device UNTIL I changed my iPhone to the 2.4 GHz wi-fi connection. It then registered the detected device within the app. Took me hours to figure that out. After everything was working, I then reconnected my iPhone to the 5GHz wi-fi connection. The device still worked perfectly, it just wouldn't let me set it up in the 5GHz wi-fi connection. CRAZY!

Alexa SOMETIMES says " DOES NOT SUPPORT THAT" ( like "Alexa, turn frontyard light ON" or 'Alexa, turn frontyard light off"). Wait for a few minutes, repeat the instructions, then it works. Using Alexa APP on iPhone by TOUCHING the light switch / plug ON or OFF always works turning it on or off. WHY???

Great Devise. Works great as advertised. My only wish was that it also had a remote control switch I could just lay on the desk. It is a bit of a nuisance to have to hunt down my phone and launch the app just to turn on/off the pugs.

These devices will cut out all the time. They will be incredibly frustrating and you will want to throw them away.
I bought two about 6 months ago before that heat wave. I bought one to to control some LED lights and a bug zapper. I could never consistently get it to stay connected to the network more than 20 feet away from a router or access point if it needs to go through a wall.
For my current light setup i have two Stitch roughly 19 feet away using the same outlet but the signal does need to go through a wall. I was able to have one STITCH stay connected for 2 days. The other one was giving me problems by refusing to connect or stay connected to the WiFi. I factory reset the problem device and got it reconnected. Now both refuse to stay connected.

Wouldnt buy this
This thing is terrible, unless its in direct line of sight it wont connect but for an instant. It is plenty close to the access point maybe 12 feet with 2 walls and it wont connect. My phone and another indoor plug that I used for a test works fine and shows full strength signal. Thankfully I kept my old analog outdoor timer.

Wifi range is limited
Overall these work great and being able to control each outlet individually is huge plus. My biggest gripe is with the range of the wifi. I place one outdoors but about 20 feet from my wifi extender and could not get it to connect. I have another in my garage about 30 feet from the same extender and it connects and works great. I am thinking of relocating the extender to get the one to work but am concerned that will affect the unit in the garage. Will try though to see.

Simple to set up with the Stitch app.
Simple to set up with the Stitch app on my Android tablet. Docked a star because I wanted to set it up with Alexa from Amazon, but the Alexa app couldn't find the Stitch add-on thing (whatever they call them... "skills"). Got it connected to WiFi and set a timer so it's outside doing what I want.
