I have never had to lock the bed, the printer stays level throughout all of my prints. I've only had a few misprints and those were due to a poorly designed file

ok, these all initially look like the same model... but the two that say 250ml, do NOT operate off of an SD card and must be attached to the computer the entire time to operate. That is why I got the the third one. (The one that shows the flip top. It does have a slightly smaller x&y area, but is significantly smaller in the Z (tall) but the models I plan on making are not particularly tall so it's not an issue for me, but might be an issue for many/most people.

The mini SLA is the budget version with mostly plastic components. The deluxe versions either with or without a screen have all metal components so you get less print lines and such because of the better z axis. I have both and I prefer the mini SLA personally because of the automatic leveling and better interface. Just make sure to update the firmware!

The deluxe (1) has an lcd display but no other connectivity and prints only from usb flash drive; SLA LCD (2) connects to a pc via serial port and remains connected while printing; Mini SLA LCD (3) has wifi and a web interface to send files to print. This printer (3) has the most options and flexibility for printing.

The MP SLA doesn't have the front panel user interface. Where as the Deluxe does. The MP Mini SLA has a smaller print area, but the print platform has a unique auto leveling system. A nice convince but it prevents them from utilizing the the full printable area due to an allowance for error.

I am also putting my reply to "New User U" on Mar 31, 2019 "malyan, monoprice are in bed together (sister companies) and cross brand each others products" since replies to answers are not seen without having to click on "Reply" making it not obvious there is a reply.
This is not true at all. They are not sister companies. Monoprice is owned by YFC-BonEagle Electric Co., Ltd. which is a Taiwan-based company. Malyan Systems is owned by Zhangzhou Echo Technology Co., Ltd. which is a china based company. Of course they work together being they must communicate in order to do business. Malyan manufactures the printers that Monoprice orders and brands them as Monoprice. Malyan does not sell printers that they do not manufacture themselves.

How do I see the quality of the parts made?

BEST ANSWER: Three things dimensional accuracy, warp and surface finish.
Dimensions: As the material cures there will be very small dimensional changes but essentially most dimension should be as accurate as the system.
Warp: Look for slightly twisted or bent surfaces that should be flat . This should not be noticeable with this type of printer.
Surface finish: With this technology the finish should be completely smooth to the naked eye unless with was suppose to have a texture.

All 3D printers necessarily have limitations on product quality. This is visible in the detail of the printed structures. The best way to compare printers is to compare their resolution, which may not be the same in x, y and z. You should decide what resolution, or quality you need before selecting a printer.

Ok, I want to make reproduction's of my original g.i. joe wepons and have people interested in them. They need to have the same detail. The guy's if you're not fimilar with them are 3.75 inches tall. The weapon's would be from rifle's to personal survival knifes. I don't know anyone else to ask, I hope I'm able to find I can get, I wouldn't know how to begin to figure which is which, being x, y and z. I know you mean basicly length by width and then height.. so which ever one was side to side I would say would be the best.. can you let me know if that would be x,y, or z?

Thank you, and by x y and z I'm thinking your talking about the dimensions. I would need best detail in side to side. I'm looking for 2 different types or multiple unit's. I just need to know whick one is if the side to side detail . I am looking to print wepons for 3.75 inch g.i. Joe's. I was told by another seller he has a reson one but there not good for detail in like a rifle for say. If I can find a matching capable of great detail and being used many times let me know please. I would like 2 or 3 depending on if there were any price breaks. Also is there a way to have a program that will pain the printed item a specific way ?

I need to make replacement star bits and replacement bolts for a 3/4 inch bolts and nuts … can i do that with a 3-D printer?
A shopper
on Aug 7, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Technically, yes you could make them. Functionally speaking, however, no. The star bits are made of hardened steel. 3/4” bolts are either grade 5 or grade 8 steel. The 3D printer makes parts out of plastic. So the 3D printed star bits and bolts would not have the strength to be usable in most applications.

BEST ANSWER: Sadly it doesn’t, it includes its own version of the slicer software from chitubox. It’s ok for what it does. It would be nice if someone made a cura profile for this unit.

simplify3D compatible?

BEST ANSWER: It is suggested to use either The web slicer mentioned in the manual, Print Studio or, if available, Creation Workshop. Monoprice is unable to supply support for Simplify3D, however, it should be compatible in theory.

Flawed, obsolete, unreliable system. Avoid.
A thoroughly unreliable printer, this unit comes with multiple interesting ideas that simply were not implemented well and it is nigh impossible to work around the printer's faults because of their presence. Its design age is also showing.
This printer is first-generation tech that leveraged RGB phone screens to mask UV light, curing resin layer by layer. These repurposed screens block a lot more UV light than more modern printers, leading to 10-12s cure times for normal layers.
The auto-level scheme does not do a great job at all at setting the build platform. It also tends to catch on the edge of the vat and then strike the screen.
I have gotten maybe 6-7 prints off of this unit and have had to replace the screen twice. Every print has been stressful as I can never tell if it will actually print the first layers, or if the print will detach later on.
Z-banding is also fairly noticable on the few prints I did get out of this unit. I don't know if it's from the lead screw, bad coupling, or the fact that the magnetic bed can shift around during a print.
In 2023, there are numerous other designs available from other manufacturers that are this price or cheaper and are slightly higher resolution and are much faster. Don't buy a RGB screen printer in 2023 if you have any other choice.

Unbeatable for the price
This little machine is great for the DM on a budget, I can fit 4-5 standard minis on a print, and the quality is more than acceptable. Had one small issue, the bed level sensor messed up one time and The whole machine bound up. Took a little gentle massaging to come loose, and a little cleaning up. Overall not a huge issue.

So far no good
I am still have not been able to print anything ok.
I had to replace already the bed film. Make sure that the base aligns when it is coming down or it may touch the top of the bed and tilt and screw everything up.

Good for the Price
I've gotten several prints under my belt on this, so I thought I'd share a few things about it.
The print bed is very narrow, 65mm, so you aren't going to be making anything very big with this printer. I use mine to make miniatures for Dungeons and Dragons, so this usually isn't an issue.
The resin smells, and that smell is not pleasant. They're not kidding when they say to use this in a well-ventilated area! The resin can also be very messy, if you aren't careful. You'll want to put a mat of some kind under the printer and under the resin containers. You'll want to have plenty of 91% isopropyl alcohol on hand for cleaning up, too. Another use for it is rinsing uncured resin off of your prints. The manual says to put your completed print into a container of the alcohol and shake it vigorously. Don't do that with anything remotely fragile or you'll break your print! I've found that sloshing the alcohol over the print for a minute or so works just fine.
On the subject of cleaning up, you're going to want to clean the print bed often if you're doing a lot of prints in a row. The print bed gets dunked into the resin, so there will be resin on the top of the print bed after every print. If you're not changing resin colors, you can wait until you've finished all of your printing before cleaning the print bed.
When you're finished printing, you can pour the remaining resin into a lidded container for later reuse. The container should be opaque, so you don't accidentally cure the resin. There is one corner of the vat that has a channel in it for pouring the resin out. It's not mentioned in the manual, and it can still be messy, but that channel makes it a bit less messy than otherwise.
Be careful with the resin vat, as it is mostly plastic. Do not use a scraper to clean cured resin off of the vat! You do not want to accidentally tear or put a hole in the vat. I have no idea if you can even get a replacement for it, so treat it very gently! Don't forget to put your washed print in the sun or under a UV lamp to finish curing. This will take about a day, at least using the UV source I am.
This printer does not appear to be receiving any updates of any kind from Monoprice or the manufacturer, Malyan. Also, the Wifi capabilities for this printer are sorely lacking. It can only use WPA security, which was cracked about a decade ago, so you don't want it on your Wifi network anyway! It prints from the SD card just fine, though.
Speaking of the SD card, not all of the slicing software mentioned on the product page is included. One that is included, though, is Chitubox. It's an older version, but it works great with this printer. You will want to change the settings to match the ones in the manual or your printing experience is going to be bad, as I learned the hard way, especially if you leave the print bed the default size.
Chitubox takes an STL file and 'slices' it into a cbddlp file. You'll want to export the cbddlp files to the SD card, as those are what the printer uses to create your print. You can save them for making more prints later, too. You can also load the cbddlp files back into Chitubox and tweak them. Chitubox adds an underscore to the front of the file name each time you export the file, so you won't lose your original if you make changes and then want to go back to an earlier version, which is nice.
Overall, this is a solid beginning 3D resin printer. Just be aware that it's basically an as-is unit, follow the instructions in the manual for printing, have plenty of alcohol and paper towels on hand for cleaning up, and you should be just fine.

Excellent 2K Printer during 4K Times
The price is unbeatable for the quality of prints you get! PLUS; This printer Auto-Levels!!! Fantastic Feature! I recommend using Lychee Slicer for printing. The Free Version is quite sufficient. Again, in the New World of 4K 3D Printing,.. the Quality difference is unnoticeable to the naked eye printing with this 2K Printer. It's just that good. Just buy it and you'll see!
