How long does ice last?
A shopper
on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It depends on many factors. But as an example, I had the cooler packed with beverage and ice on a 85 degree day and we went into it a dozen times during the day and 80% of the ice was still there by the end of the day, about 8 hours later.
For maximum ice retention remember to cool down the interior as much as you can then pack the cooler with cold items, freezer cold ice or ice packs and as little air space as possible. Keep opening the cooler to a minimum, keep the cooler in the shade and lastly (as counter-intuitive as it seems) don't drain off the cold water unless it could ruin your items or the weight becomes burdensome. If you follow these steps ice could last for a few days in this cooler, even in 80 degree temps.

It depends on the outside air temperature.. Tailgating during the summer in 90+degree F, ice usually last’s a day and a half with multiple openings. Drain the water, and your beer is still cold two days later :) winter time, this will go for 3 days easily in low temp. I’ve purchased the 25 and 50 liter versions and am happy with both after a year. Hope this helps!

I've switched from ice to freezer packs since I bought this cooler. Ice will melt no matter what because you put warmer objects into the cooler, water then melts ice. If you put 2-3 freezer packs it will keep things cold for 3-4 days on average.

Ice lasted up to 4 days. I've heard you could get ice to last longer, if you put the empty cooler into a freezer for a few days and then fill it with ice and your goodies. One thing to consider is that this cooler is somewhat heavy.

Too many variables, but long time, similar to other "premium" cooler which we own as well. 2 Gel ice packs kept drinks chilled for 2 days in 35 C weather.

Good cooler for the price, once cold ice last 3-4 days depending on how often it is opened.

Hi, these look great but I wonder what happens in a year or two. Are there replacement parts available for these? The name brands sell parts, like the rubber latches. Will we be able to order replacement latches in a few years for these?

Great until the rubber latches break
I had this for about 1 year and used it several times, it was great at keeping things cold UNTIL one of the rubber latches broke off just trying to close it. It can still keep things cool, but can't travel and doesn't fully seal. I bought this for camping/overlanding trips, so now it's useless to me.

Great cooler and a good value
If you can buy this when it goes on sale, it is a great value. I won't say it is as good as a Yeti, but it is close and for 1/4 the cost. That represents great value to me.
The build quality is really really good. It feels solid. I have taken this on several desert trips already and it has worked excellent. Love the design where I can put a ratchet strap on it to tie it down in the back of my truck. Doesn't budge. I have recommended this already to friends and family.

Great cooler, but broke a clasp and no parts available
functionally this cooler is very good and comparable to the competition / name brands. The catch is that you can't get parts - so if or when you break a rubber closure / clasp, or your kid loses the drain closure - you are in trouble.
I broke a rubber closure after ~ one year for no apparent reason, though I would gladly pay for a a replacement if one was available.
To Monoprice's credit - customer service was helpful and will replace my cooler to address the broken handle (this is in progress) but this seems like a wasteful solution (time, shipping, environmental...) plus it is a hassle. Additionally my color was out of stock for several months.....and it took a second call to get another in stock color substituted.
Knowing this - and that potentially I might have to do it again in the future, my feelings about the money I saved are very mixed. 5 star cooler if parts were available, but as it is a iffy bet - whether it will make sense for you will depend on how much you need it and how much you value your time.

Great cooler.
It stays cold for a long time. I also like that it's a good size. It holds a lot of stuff, but is still possible to move with one person. The rubberized bottom doesn't slide around my boat when the water is rough. Overall, for the price and quality it's my favorite cooler.

Keep Ice great, way better than some of the others. I wish the drain caps were attached, pain looking for them after draining them. Rubber latches little weak (I have 30 of these in industrial setting) few have already broken..
Still,, great value for the price, best cooler I have purchased

This thing is awesome, but heavy
This cooler is fantastic, and I would put it up against any yeti in terms of ability to hold ice. We used this cooler for an Overlanding trip out to Utah recently, and even when temps reached 80 throughout the day, and this cooler sitting in the back of the truck the entire time, we still had some of our 10lb block of ice left after 4 days.
I did take off one star because this thing is heavy, especially when loaded down. Also, there isn't a string built-in/attached to the cap, so if you unscrew the cap, and it gets lost, you are SoL.

Impressive!
Was in search of a rotomolded cooler. After reading numerous reviews I purchased the 50 liter version. Very stout cooler. As others indicated the cooler emblem was loose, glued it securely back on. The handles interfere with closing the cooler. Simple fix. Removed handles and installed 1/4 neoprene washers on both sides of the pin that the handle slides on. The handles now protrude away from the cooler Concern resolved. Held ice for 4 days without losing much ice. Overall I am satisfied, especially at the sale price.
