The actual recessed portion of the mount is 14 1/2" wide, it fits between 16 on center stud with no problems. I'm not sure of the 19 inch dimension you have it maybe the height.

19 inches is the measurement for the plate including the lip., which serves to limit the depth of the mount. On my unit the plate fit snugly and nicely between two studs.

It's not 19 inches wide it's more like 15 inches between the two studs and can be adjusted up to 16 inches when bolting to the studs

The minimum extension range spec is 3.94in. Does this mean the TV will sit at a minimum of 3.94in off the wall or does it sit flush with the wall?

BEST ANSWER: I installed one of these mounts last summer for a 65" Sony HD TV and I absolutely love it. It probably won't sit perfectly flush against the wall in your case, but since most of the metal swing arms are recessed back in the wall space about 3-3.5" it will be close to flush (probably within 1/2-3/4"). In my case I had another 2" of cultured stone depth to play with forming a recessed space of about 5-5 1/2", so mine sits flush except for the very top of the TV which sits above a fireplace mantle, and is angled down a few degrees for the correct viewing angle. I researched these mounts extensively before buying, and IMO you won't do any better in price or quality than the Monoprice TV mount. Hope this helps... Good luck!

In my case, the back of the TV sits about 1 1/4" away from the wall. This is because, although the folding parts of the mount are recessed, the bracket and spacers that attach the TV to the mount, use this space. This puts the face of the TV at only 4" from the face of the wall. Also understand, unless your project is in a new wall, this mount centers on existing stud bays and does not necessarily center on your wall or furniture or whatever without some creative rework in your wall.

It sits flush with the wall. This is the second one we've bought and I love it. It has a spot for an outlet so we bought a black outlet and wired it behind the drywall to an outlet below.

BEST ANSWER: To determine compatibility with a TV mount to your TV, please determine the VESA mounting pattern on the back of your TV. It is the 4 screw hole square formation on the back and it is usually listed on the TV specs or you can find out by measuring it yourself(measured in millimeters). Our TV mounts range from 50x50mm to 1000x700 and up so please check the TV mount specs for compatibility as well. I hope this helps, thank you!

I have used this mount twice now for our 80" TV without issues. When we moved and took our TV, I installed the same mount in our new house. Takes a couple people to hold the TV in place while the brackets are attached to the back, but very sturdy once installed.

BEST ANSWER: I don't think so. If your TV doesn't weigh a ton (plasma) and you have at least 1/2" sheetrock, you could try heavy duty anchors and go for a surface mount. I'd just check the anchors after a short period to make sure they aren't pulling out of the wall.

Sturdy and Strong
Very sturdy and strong recessed TV mount. Pretty easy to install and it gets your TV about as close to the wall as you can at a decent price. After all of the connections and cables, my TV is about 2 inches from the wall. I would definitely buy another one of these!

Great Mount with one exception.
Overall, I love this mount, I hung an 86" Samsung with no problems pulls out easy, levels easy, seam very heavy-duty mounting was easy for the most part.
I gave this 5 stars, but it's more like 4.75 stars. Because the cut out for an electrical box was way too big and a normal US electrical box drops right through it. I had to customize a box to work but over all I'm happy.

This recessed wall mount was very easy to install. We mounted our tv over a gas fireplace. I suggest making a template of the bottom (smaller) side of the recessed box. I did this and traced around the template after marking my studs with a stud finder. My husband only helped when the tv needed to be lifted shoulder height to be placed onto the mounting plate. We pull our 65" tv out to the fullest position just for kicks and it is fully supported. This is a very sound and strong wall mount. -Wendy

Swings the wrong way
I researched this to no end and wanted the arm to swing out to the right. The reviews stated that it swung to the right. The pictures shows that it swings to the right. The manual shows it swinging to the right. Yet for some reason mine swings to the left and it is not reversible. What's up with that??? It's a good product and design but now I see a big black box when I pull it all the way out of the wall. Why would you change the way it swings but make no comment about it.
