Is this product passive or active?
A shopper
on Oct 11, 2021
BEST ANSWER: This is a passive splitter. There’s a port for the input and 8 ports for output. There is nothing to boost the signal. Works great to get the signal throughout the house

Will this work with Verizon FIOS?
A shopper
on Jun 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Verizon FIOS delivers its signal via fiber-optic cable TO YOUR RESIDENCE. How the signal is then distributed can vary from location to location, depending on the type/complexity of the installation.
Check your set-top box....see if it has the same type of connector as the splitter (coaxial "F" connector)...IF it DOES, you should be good to go.......it MAY, however, use HDMI or other direct-video connectors.
IF you DO use coaxial cable for your hook-up, try to keep cable runs as short as possible to avoid excessive signal loss. FYI.....I'm using this splitter to distribute FM radio signal to multiple receivers in conjunction with an Emergency Alert System (EAS) at my low-power FM (LPFM) station.....it works very well!!
Hope this helps you out.....Good Luck!

It's not amplified, so you may have signal issues. I use it with my cable feed, which works fine.

What color is this supposed to be? The one I ordered and received when ordered from a different store-front but definitely still an official Monoprice retailer was silver-color (aluminum?) despite the product image clearly showing gold-color (brass?)

Why does the label plate in the picture look like it is installed wrong. where the label shows the "in" port, there is nothing, but there is a port on the opposite side where there is no label?
Matt N
on Feb 5, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Good catch. The label is off on the picture, but on the delivered item the IN port is in the correct spot. Flip the label on the sample and that is how it ships. The IN port is centered on the 5 female side, with 4 OUT and a space on the 4 female side. Print on the current model is red instead of black as well.

Is the "OUT" text missing for the top-right output? It's missing for specifically the top-right output on both my older gold-colored (brass?) version & newer silver-colored (aluminum?) version, and the other 7 outputs still have their "OUT" text (as well as the single input in the middle having its "IN" text).

What is the db loss per port on this splitter? This is normally a key specification on a coax splitter.

Decent construction. Best for indoor use.
My splitter broke as I was trying to rewire an outdoor cable box. My fault--I was trying to do too much with it and needed a more robust splitter to handle multiple cables in a cramped space. Should work perfectly well under less arduous conditions.

It looks just as it is pictured and I am sure that it will work out great once I am able to complete my plan.
I was hoping to split my HD antenna to use on multiple televisions but unfortunately when I connected it there was not enough power able to return to the antenna to allow it to spin and pick up other channels. I have a plan to try using it another way but due to our country's current situation I have put it on hold.

Ok for most...
This splitter is really light weight. My old 5 way splitter weights more than this one. 8 way splitter works; except the PBS station comes in weak at my location and the 8 way splitter will not pass on the signal. All other audio and video signals get split properly.

not an improvement
Seems reasonably well made. Upon connecting to an attic 75 mile antenna, I get less channels than my 15 year old corroded splitter I was previously using.

one in 8 out no problem
I am a cord cutter and us a high def antenna that is atop a 30-40 foot high pole and gives me 65 free channels in Boise Idaho. I have many tv's in the house and it was important to me to get the feed to all the tvs without diluting the signal .....so by design i had the longest run from the antenna in to the basement/crawl space underneath the house where it was connected to the splitter and from there 8 (shorter) individual runs to all tv's from below average run 15 to 20 feet """" the picture is awesome on all tv's I highly recommend the splitter

Works great for OTA signals
I needed to equip a property with OTA TV but it had many outlets so instead of deciding which ones could connect, I put this 8 port splitter in place to solve the issue. I am using it with a single amplified OTA HD outdoor antenna and all TVs have good signal. I know that there must be a small loss involved in splitting it up but in my case it made no impact and all sets works fine.

Works but hard to put on F-connectors
Had a hard time locating a local distributor for digital cable box compatible splitters. This splitter does function with Cisco cable dvr's. The threads such that it is very hard to install the F-connectors properly. They may have to be turned with a die to deepen the threads.
