Can this unit be used to repair scratches on Gamecube or PSP games?
    A shopper on Jan 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: For the disc repair and cleaner I would not recommend using it for PSP games. Gamecube disc may be a little too small.
Can this product really repair and remove scratches from all disks like it says?
    A shopper on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This disc repair tool is a solid product with the proper expectations in mind.

Can it repair all damaged discs?

No. It's no miracle worker but it has worked for me on most discs. If the damage is bad enough then you're out of luck.

Also it may not be worth it to buy this just to fix one disc if that disc can be replaced cheaply.

I burn a lot of music from borrowed cd's (20-30 each week) and this this repair tool has been a big help.
    how long is the shipping?
    A shopper on Jan 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello, you may obtain shipping rates and transit types by adding it to your cart and going to the check out page. Thank you for your inquiry.
when do i need to change the pads or what is the life of the pads usage wise how many disc can it do?
    Castillo A on Feb 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: According to the manual, 50 Disk Repair operations. As far as just cleaning, I think it would go through about 200 operations.
Is this the one advertised on youtube?
    A shopper on Feb 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes there is a YouTube video of this washer/cleaner and by the way it works as advertised. It removes lots of scratches, maybe not all it depends on how deep the scratches are.

The little repairing machine that could
I have tried other cleaning and repair kits for years, from wax like scratch filler fluids to hand cranked resurface machines. While all of them have worked, they are time and physically consuming. This little unit does everything for you from the repair to the final cleaning. You might just need to wipe the excess cleaning fluid at the end so have a soft terry cloth towel on hand if needed. It would have been nice if the system had one but, no big deal.

If you just need to properly clean your discs from dirt, smudges and fingerprints, then skip the red pads and start with the yellow pads then go to the blue to finish.

Light to moderate scratches will need 1 -2 complete cycles of both the red and yellow pads. I was able to repair two music CDs that had tracking problems in a particular sections of songs. One of these CDs, had moderate to heavy scratches that included moderate circular scratches. So I had to run the 4-8 full repair cycles(red and yellow pads) before using the blue pads to finish.. I was able to verify that I was able to accurately digitally rip the CD using the freeware software Exact Audio Copy after repairing it using this machine. Something that I could not do before with just a few cycles. If you need to do this please clean the red pads with the included brush after every cycle(during the yellow cycles).

One thing for sure, this machine will NOT completely repair severe scratches including those nasty deep circular scratches. These are the discs that belong to that 1% that Monoprice mentions it will not repair. So don't expect this under $20 machine to perform miracles. You will need a heavy duty multi cycled resurfacing unit to attempt that repair. That is, as long as the data layer(closer to the label side of the disc) is not damaged beyond repair most optical media can be repaired..

Although Monoprice mentions that this machine is compatible with Blu-Ray discs as well, I would be cautious about using the red pads on those discs, since the data layer of Blu-Ray discs is closer to the play side of the disc than the label side(CD data stored the closest to the label side, DVD data is stored in between) so I would only use the yellow and blue pads.

I recommend that you purchase at least one refill kit when you get this machine. Make sure you don't accidentally misplace that brush since the refill kit doesn't include a replacement for that if you misplace it.

    PROS: Inexpensive supply kit available

One complete cycle(using all pads) will repair majority of lightest scratches..

Repair cycle (red pads) can be skipped if you just want to perfectly clean your optical media.

CONS: Motor is a bit loud

Won't repair deep circular scratches (that is that missing 1%)

    Worth every penny
This repair device has saved me much much more money than I paid for it. It worked on Wii, Xbox360, PS3, DVD, and Audio disks.

    One suggestion to the user.

FOLLOW the directions! DO not use more solution than is recommended. This will only impede the process. I know it is human nature to think that more is better, however just follow the directions and you will be happy with the results.

PROS: Price as usual is incomparable with other devices that fix disks.

Simple, easy to follow directions make using this device a breeze.

You simply cannot argue with the results. Out of 32 moderately to severely scratched disks, 31 were restored to fully functioning condition. The only disk that did not function after had very severe scratches.

CONS: I really don't have any complaints

It works, but not like magic
My son had a PS2 disc that was very damaged. I had to pass it 4 times the three step process before it works again. But it finally worked out. So, only for this disc, the buy worth it!

But I'm sure I'll have some other discs to "fix". Making it a good investment!

    A few points :
    - I'm wondering where to get refill or new polishing discs in the futur.
    - The motor seems to work "hard", I hope it's sturdy enough.
    - Built quality is fine, but might be better.

    Highly recommended !

    Worth the money
It's a nice little machine, but the description of what it does is a bit misleading. Here is my observation of how it works based upon what I know about the physics of CD's and lasers:

I would actually clean the discs first (blue pads + cleaning liquid) because they need to be clean for best results beforehand.

Pink buffing pads do just as is claimed. When the polycarbonate layer of a disc is scratched, the top edges of the scratch (if sharp enough) will cause the laser to mis-track. This is what causes the skips. Buffing helps to soften the edges of the scratch (so long as it's a radial scratch. Those scratches running parallel to data on the disc, most of the time, can't be read regardless of how much buffing is done and requires commercial repair or replacement).

The yellow pads are only a delivery/distribution device. Rub a drop of the white "repair fluid" between your fingers, and you'll notice that it's a very slick and waxy substance with no grit in it! This seems to be more of a wax/polish, which helps to fill in the scratches!

I skip the cleaning step at the end because it seems to remove too much of the wax/polish. Instead, I use a clean lens cloth and wipe off the excess "repair fluid" (but not using much pressure, so that some of it remains in the scratches). After this, you should have a somewhat shiny disc with scratches (and sometimes, swirl marks). The disc doesn't look new at all, but hopefully it will be playable... until/if it needs to be cleaned. After cleaning, the disc might not play correctly again, and will need to be run through the process again (I suggest making a copy of the disc once it's playable again, if possible).

Like I said earlier, this is a great machine for the money... I would definitely buy it again! It's just that what it seems to me to do isn't really exactly what it says... I get picky about details! :)

PROS: Puts most scratched discs I've tried back into a playable condition.

CONS: 'Should be called Disc RESTORING and Cleaning Kit, since it doesn't actually "repair" discs themselves (it even says on the back of the instruction booklet, "NOTE: This unit can return damaged disc back to readable and writable condition, though it will not erase any physical scars or scratches present.")

    It just works
I would recommend this product to friends.

PROS: Works well with many media types.
Low cost and pays for self in one use

CONS: Only uses AC/DC adapter. Wish it took batteries too.

    astonished - it worked!
    I'm giving it a '9' because I almost never give a '10' - although this might be a case where I should...

I rip our DVDs to a server so we can watch them on our media center - and so kids don't (mis-)handle them causing scratches like I just dealt with.

I had a DVD with a lot of little scratches, dirt, fingerprints, and one big half-inch gouge. I cleaned it with Dawn and water that took care of the dirt and fingerprints, but I couldn't even get part-way with ripping it.

I took a chance and ordered this "Disc Repairing and Cleaning Kit" when I ordered a bunch of other things.

I put the badly scratched DVD into the machine, and did all three processes: buffing, restoring, and cleaning.

Tried to rip it again - it got 98.6% of the way through! Pretty impressive considering I couldn't even get 5% before.

I went through all three processes again and the entire disk was readable. 100% readable.

Very impressive! I have to admit I'm amazed - I really didn't expect it to work. The gouge is still there, but it's been cleaned, buffed, whatevered and the DVD is completely readable again.

    Highly recommended!

PROS: It actually worked! Restored a DVD that I couldn't read at all, and brought it back to completely readable!

Supplies last approximately 50 times they're $3.33 (single price) very reasonable I think.

It's well build feels solid and has a tray to hold supplies.

CONS: Instructions are printed in a little booklet - they should be right on the cleaner so they won't get lost.

It's a bit noisy, but that's really not an issue - it only gets occasional use.

    Excellend product
This unit works perfectly and is a great price. It should be the only unit you need for cleaning, buffing, and repairing!

    PROS: Works exactly as described
    Multifunction: buffs, cleans, or repairs
Refill kits are also very cheap. Order extras when you order the unit.

    CONS: None!

Great for CDs and DVDs. A disaster for HD-DVDs.
A great tool for maintaining a CD and/oe DVD collection.

PROS: I've successfully used the Monoprice kit to restore some used CDs and DVDs I've purchased. The results were impressive. The video instructions are clear and replacement pads and solutions are available at low Monoprice prices. (Monoprices?)

CONS: HD-DVD lost to BluRay in the technology battle. I chose the losing side and have a number of aging HD-DVD disks that are beginning to deteriorate despite my attempts to treat them with care. One of the disks in the excellent BBC Planet Earth series was no longer playable so I tried to restore it using the Monoprice kit. Apparently the surface of the disk is not robust enough to withstand the cleaning process. The disk is now a blur of swirls from the cleaning process. I have not tried to clean a BluRay disk so I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the Monoprice kit when used with BluRays.

    Good Machine For The Price
I had a few discs with some relatively minor, but concentric scratches, that I wanted to repair after a portable DVD player for the car scratched them and made them unplayable all of the way through. I considered more expensive repair units such as the JFJ Easy Pro, but found it hard to swallow to spend over $100 to repair a few inexpensive discs. I took my chances with this unit after reading the positive reviews. I tried it on three discs, but the unit failed to make any of the three discs playable by itself and I would still get read errors even after running them through 3-4 passes on this machine. I ended up using polishing compound and some elbow grease with a damp cloth to remove the scratches from the three discs and then ran them through this unit to make a final polish. All three discs then worked! This machine does leave swirl marks on the discs, so don't expect a mirror finish, but I suppose it could "clean up" lightly scratched discs and make them playable again. Overall, a good machine for the price, but if you want more professional results, have a lot of discs to repair, or have discs with deeper scratches, I would invest in a better machine and not waste your money with this unit unless you want to manually buff out the scratches first as I did. Overall, a good machine for the money, but I guess you get what you pay for.

    PROS: Inexpensive

Can make lightly scratched non-working discs playable

CONS: Does not make non-working discs with deeper scratches playable

    Leaves swirl marks on discs
