Can the seat be moved forward and backwards?

BEST ANSWER: The front can tilt up and down, but I do not see a way to move it forward or back. The seat itself is pretty long from from to back. Hope this helps

No, the seat is fixed. The back reclines to almost 180 degrees. All you need is a small ottoman to take a snooze.

Does the seat tilt back as the back tilts back? It's uncomfortable to be slouched with your legs forward when your body is leaning backwards.
Eric O
on Dec 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes the seat tilts back as the back tilts. The back is fastened rigidly to the seat and therefore the they stay in the same position relative to each other as the seat tilts. The tilt mechanism is fastened to the seat.

Yes, the seat does tilt with the backrest but when fully reclined you will need a small ottoman to support your legs.

Does this chair get shipped assembled?
Sivaramakrishnan H
on Jul 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, the chair will need assembly. It ships disassembled so it can ship in a reasonably sized box to save on shipping costs. There is a link to the assembly manual at the bottom of the product page description if you want to evaluate how doable the assembly process is. Thanks for checking.

Is the lumbar support adjustable?
Andrew H
on Aug 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it has small adjustments to move forwards or backwards to increase or decrease support. It can be raised higher by an inch, and it tilts a few degrees side to side mainly for better fit. Thanks for checking.

One of the pictures referencing the knee tilt mechanism makes it look like the seat can actually tilt forward (which is a somewhat hard to find ergonomic feature especially in this price range): is this the case, and if so, how many degrees?
Kaitlyn G

BEST ANSWER: Hi, you are correct and quite observant for noticing that. This chair can tilt 5 degrees forward, which is just enough to provide an alternative sitting position for users who prefer to lean forwards while working. The forward tilt could also help with relieving pressure from the back, and with evenly distributing weight to the legs as well. Hope this helps, thanks for checking.

Are the armrests optional? Can we use the chair without them?

Most chairs have too much lumbar support to be comfortable for me. Ideally, a straight back is perfect. Would this lumbar be considered moderate or less? How high can the support be set above seat height? Can it be removed?
Quinn L
on Mar 18, 2020
It looks like the headrest has two separate pivot points and then the height adjustment. Is this just an aesthetic thing, or does the headrest actually pivot at two separate points? I want to make sure I can get the headrest to be forward enough to actually support my neck in a regular position.

Nice chair for home office
I bought this for my home office about a month ago, and it's been great. It was fairly simple to put together. It has the lower back support I need, the cushion is sturdy, and it's comfortable overall. I feel it's a good chair, especially for the price.

Good, sturdy - probably better for those under 6'1"
So far so good. I've just assembled this chair, so I'll write out my initial thoughts.
The instructions are pretty simple. I'd suggest putting the arms on -after- attaching the back to the seat, despite what the instructions say. The arms can get in the way during that step, which can make that process kind of frustrating if you're assembling solo.
The plastic tooling on the back was slightly off, making the machined-aluminum bracket a little difficult to attach, but it was possible. Just keep track of what order you're fastening the screws and only tighten them down when they're all started. Speaking of the screws, each of them come pre-treated with blue thread-locker, which is nice.
After sitting in it for a while, I'd say I'm almost too tall (6'1") for this chair. I'd say 5'10"~11" would be the sweet spot for the max height. The headrest at its max-height adjustment, meets the bottom portion of my head. Tilting the headrest makes it a bit more comfortable to rest on, but it rubs on my shoulders and neck if I do. The arm rests, also at max-height, are just tall enough for my arms and shoulders.
This chair feels very sturdy. If Monoprice lets me edit my review, I'll post an update a month or so out.

Comfortable
Has all the features I have been looking for in a replacement office chair. I wish it was a little tighter when tilting, but it is what it is. I also wish the set wasn’t as long from from to back.

Solid Chair
This is a solid chair with good features. The only issue I have is the seat is relatively deep (~20”). If you are short (I’m 5’6”) it makes it hard to sit all the way back against the back. Like another review it does recline quite easily, even if you crank down the tension. I will say the Monoprice is awesome - five stars. I ordered this and it was delivered in less than 48 hours. They have always been amazing at shipping speed and cost.

Workstream by Monoprice Ergonomic Office Chair
I was pleasantly surprised when I received this office chair. It is very well built, with a highly functional design. I would recommend it for anyone looking for an office chair at this price range or even at a much price.

Workstream Ergonomic Office Chair review
The chair is as described on the website. The Monoprice website and Monoprice Customer Support both say the chair is rated for 250# but the Installation Guide says the maximum weight is 220#. I weigh 250# and I found the tilt spring to be way too weak even with the tension knob adjusted as tight as I could get it. I have to keep the tilt locked to avoid the danger of tipping over backwards. I would not recommend this chair for anyone approaching 250#. For my body build, the seat back is a bit short and the headrest, even when fully extended is too low to support my head. Also, while it appears that the headrest should be able to tilt forward or back, mine won't budge.

Response from Monoprice
Hi, thanks for your purchase and for your product review. The chair itself was designed and built for the 250 lbs spec and part of product testing even uses 400 lbs static load. But we were considering just claiming 220 lbs max recommended weight to provide a margin, this may have led to the inconsistency. The website description will be corrected to be consistent and reflect the same info, thanks for bringing this up. Please contact our customer support team if you need further assistance with the product as well.

solid, sturdy, made to last, this is the one!
This is a chair that was designed from the bottom up. It is heavy, and in credibly strong. The tilt mechanism is designed with a double lock, so when released it doesn't fling you forward, you have to shift your weight to engage, which is nice. The arm rests are a sold piece with no seam, so I think they will not split after a year like other chairs I have bought. Head rest is not only adjustable in height but tilts as well. Does it recline? You better believe it, full tilt all the way back, very comfortable. Lots of cushion on the seat as well. Great chair overall, which I think will last for years to come.
