not directly. it is 110/120 volt household current. you would need an inverter to operate off a battery.

Is this loud enough to play with another person?
A shopper
on Feb 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: 20W will get pretty loud. If you like full distortion then you can crank it up and play with some others. If you like a cleaner sound then this little guy will probably not be able to keep up. Check out our 40W or the 15W tube amp. Even though it is less power, the tube output is much louder than solid-state amps.

If it is just another one or two folks playing in a room with similar size amps it should be fine.
I play with 2 others that have similar sized amps in a large room and it works fine and plenty
loud at medium volume level and probably would even higher. The clean channel stays
clean. We play medium rock like Tom Petty, sometimes bit heavier and R&B stuff.

will this amp work with a bass too?
A shopper
on Jul 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in this amplifier. While not recommended, yes you can use this amp for a bass. Great care needs to be taken so you do not damage the speaker. As a small practice amp for working out bass chops start with volume very low. change setting slowly until you hear too much distortion. If you use with headphones there is no issue. A little distortion on the bass is kinda fun.

i don't think so. I wouldn't recommend trying it, either. Guitar amp circuitry and wattage, along with signal peak/impedance are set specifically for guitar and NOT bass. Although, if you tried to plug a guitar into a bass amp, it'd work, but not the other way around...you'd run the risk of frying the amp

no a guitar amp will not work for a bass. a bass requires a lower frequency response and unless the amp is specifically designed as a combo amp with a different woofer and set of crossovers all you will typically get is buzz or maybe very poor sound. if the unit is designed as a combo amp it will typically have a selector or set of controls for the bass clearly marked.

Could you use this as a keyboard amp?
A shopper
on Feb 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you technically could. I would use the bass amp instead since the speaker will better handle the full range frequencies of the keyboard. With a little too much volume you will pop this one easier.

Yes you could. I bought this for my cousin as he is just beginning to play guitar. It would be a decent practice amp but not a great performance amp.

I believe it stated a direct line out (not the headphone) is this the case and if so Im assuming its a 1/4" jack on the rear panel.....2nd? Does this one have an effects loop which would certainly not be a deal breaker if not but just curious. 3rd?? Does this one have a Footswitch jack for the overdrive? Certainly not a deal breaker 2not just curious. Lastly,, does this have that xtra tone type knob like the 40 watt one has...its like an xtra eq or like the blackstar iso knob which can blend an american drive with a british type tone ordrive. This is slong with the normal bass mid and treble pots. Now o know the big brother (40 watt) has it And a real reverb tank (Bravo) but Im asking about that extra iso like US/UK tone knob???? OH question bout big brother 40 watt. Does that one have a direct line out 1/4" on the rear panel. Im sorry as I can be all these questions....only planned to ask the first few bout the 20 watt. Please forgive me

There is a Headphone out (small phone plug) that you can plug into speakers and an Aux (in or out?) that I haven't used, also a small phone plug. It has an extra Tone control plus Vol and Gain. That's all I know. I like the tone...

This would make a good practice amp, but you're not going to the the lows you need for your floor tom and bass drum. But for $50, this thing is a steal!

Good practice amp
I ordered this amp with a guitar the amp is solid but after using it a few days I was shopping for an upgrade. The build and features are nice for an amp at this price. I would recommend if you are on a budget, but if you have more to spend there are better options.

Great practice amp
At this price point this is by far the best 15W practice amp on the market. It has a great tone and the overdrive works great.

Great for what it is; an inexpensive practice amplifier!
The combo amp arrived double boxed. Very simple operation. Construction is solid and simple. Headphone out, line in & out, make this a versatile practice amplifier. For the money I have not seen a better offering. In my den it is more than loud enough. Eventually I will buy a modeling amplifier but it is more than adequate to complete its current task. I have no problems recommending this practice amplifier.

Monoprice 1x8 20 Watt SS Combo
This amp has very good sound especially for the price. The sound is
better than quite a few similar sized amps that have effects. Having
a mid range control on board helps this and a key ingredient. The
Overdrive channel is pretty good especially with the gain control
set at 2-3. and master at 7-8. Above that starts to gradually become
a fuzz. I don't think this is quite what a metal type player would want gain wise but there is always the pedal option. It works
well with a delay pedal and a 12 string pedal. So far I have
around 6 hours of actual playing time on it and hope it
continues to perform well. FWIW I have a Bugera 5 watt tube
combo cover and it fits this amp slightly loose but does the job.
