Does the siren need a power adapter or it will work with batteries ?
A shopper
on Mar 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The device has a microUSB port for power. It is recommended to use a power adapter for the device. There is an option to use CR123A batteries but the batteries is used as a back up and will only last approximately 2 days.

The device has a microUSB port for power. There is an option to use CR123A batteries but the batteries and there was/is nothing to indicate that the batteries cannot be used as a main power option and in fact I have been unable to get multiple units to power on at all under battery power.

There is the option for Baterries, of course they are not "common" they are the CR123A batteries, so probably $5+ for two of them. That being said, mine will not work on Batteries, never powered on.

Without the ability to adjust the volume, alternatively It would be nice the selection of chime and alarm sounds that the device comes with included at least one that was softer or quieter.

Can this run on it's own or does it need something to work with.? I have interior/exterior cameras. I'd like to add a siren I can activate by app on phone.

BEST ANSWER: This device is powered by USB power adapter. You will need to pair download the free STITCH app that would be used to control the siren. Once you have downloaded the app, you will need to pair the device with your home's 2.4ghz WiFi network. Once set up you have various sirens and chimes to select from for your environment.

Good only for display
I would give it a NEGATIVE STAR if there is one. This thing is a battery power sink! We were burglarized twice and didn't have a chance to activate it because it ran out of power in a freshly installed battery. Take note that we replaced the battery twice after it was bought.

Weak sounding alarm
I have several stitch products. I wasn’t sure based off the information in the product description if it was battery powered. It’s not loud at all. I would not recommend or buy again.

This order took 2 weeks to get to me, so IDK I haven't had time to see how it works. It is smaller than I thought it would be.

Not to Smart Siren
Loses network connection on a frequent basis. After about 5 minutes it reconnects and will function for some variable amount of time This is the second (replacement) unit that does the same as the first but on a much less frequent basis. WIFI signal level is excellent and within 100 foot of the router. I have a additional smart siren that works perfectly. Swapped units location to be sure it wasn't a location issue.

Ok but could be improved for version 2
The red strobe LEDs are not very bright and the siren is not very loud. I haven't tried with batteries. Is responsive to events.

Power Issues make this unusable
After 4 separate attempts at replacements of this unit and way to much money being spent on a variety of batteries (not a standard AA or AAA size) I have still been completely unable to get a unit to power on with batteries. This has made this item a paperweight as I have no other power options for where possible areas the this siren can be placed. I have essentially given up on this unit, as well as Stitch in general, as I was truly hoping that the Stitch family of products would be able to provide a cost effective and efficient home monitoring suite, the audible siren being an integral piece of the offerings.

Very good for the price, and...
I am generally very happy with this strobe/alarm, particularly the choice of 9 (or so) alarm sounds. However, getting it to work with a Stitch motion detector took some doing. Directions could be better. Never did get it to work with batteries. Still, for the price it very good.

Stitch Alarm issues.
Just received a replacement because the first one went through 2 sets of batteries in less than a week. Now the second one out of the box doesn’t work at all with batteries and only external power!!!!! Very frustrated

Not what I had hoped, meh
Arrived quickly and in good condition. Overall the alarm is ok with 12 different sounds. Not as loud as I hoped so won't be very useful to hear from 2nd floor when in basement. Strobe is really just a flashing red light so don't be surprised at that. Not like a bright flashing white True Strobe. I would rather it connects to a Google home or smartthings directly instead of another app to download and give access to home wifi and link back. I am sure they are trustworthy being on my network but to be honest.i don't trust that something won't go wrong on their side and expose me.... Oh well it was something to try.....
