8.0mm Professional Microphone Bulk Cable - 250FT
Build your own customer balanced mono and unbalanced stereo patch cables using this Professional Microphone Bulk Cable from Monoprice!
This cable features two 16AWG high-purity, oxygen-free copper conductors, a braided copper shield with 97.5% coverage, and a single drain wire. Each conductor is jacketed in color-coded PVC.
PROS: Cheap, flexible, high quality, easy to work with.
PROS: Cable has a great feel to it. Easy to manipulate and work with. Great cost for this quality of cable. Looks great and works great at the end of the day.
CONS: You have to be very careful with soldering iron temperature. The insulators surrounding the 2 cores, melt at different temperatures, and this temperature is lower than with Mogami or Canare cables. Also if building short cables, pulling on one of the cores to strip the insulator, can literally pull that entire insulator and core out of the Sleeve. This is very frustrating, so make sure to clamp the far end of the cable before stripping the wires!
PROS: Price, construction, quality, everything.
PROS: Flexible. Low noise mesh sheilding. Easy to strip and solder.
I can recommend this product to anyone that is making their own cables , either 1/4" or XLR .
PROS: Cheap and good quality cable.
Cheap as hell!
CONS: It might be a little to thick for some connectors, you might need to shave back the really thick rubber sleeve to fit some connectors on (I had trouble with neutrik np2's). But generaly people buying bulk cable like to put a little elbow grease into their cables, so its your call!
PROS: Oxygen free with a shield. Very nice for the price
PROS: Price. Thick jacket. Unwinds and re wraps nicely.
CONS: Not a fan of the wire stranded with string. Nor the braided ground.
Once you cut away the outer jacket, you have to upbraid the ground, cut the string away without getting it tangled in your ground wire, then you can actually start the work of putting a connector on. I am probably spoiled with other more expensive cables though.
