Connect sound components and other audio equipment with this Premium 1/4" TS Patch Cable from Monoprice!

This unbalanced cable uses 16 AWG stranded, pure copper conductors and employs copper braid shielding with 97.5% coverage to ensure that stray radio frequency and electromagnetic signals do not degrade the audio quality of your performance. The plugs are gold plated to provide smooth, corrosion-free connections as well as maximum electrical conductivity.

Note that this cable is intended for general audio use. For high-end, low-noise performance and recording use we recommend our Cloth Series cables.

Speaker cable, not an instrument cable.
I see some reviews complaining of microphonic cables and other noise issues. I suspect most of these are using them as instrument cables, which they aren't. They're speaker cables. They may work just fine with your guitar/amp setup. They may not. They're not shielded the same way an instrument cable would be. They're meant to be used between an amp and speaker cabinet.

PROS: Work great, great price. As long as you know what you need, they're perfect.

    CONS: None.

    poor construction makes poor sound
I purchased a 15ft 1/4inch mono male to male 16AWG instrument cable along with several 1.5ft of the same, as well as a 15ft XLR microphone cable. They all looked incredibly beautiful with gold connectors, thick cable coating, and seemingly solid construction. Upon actually connecting them, it was a totally different story.

These cables all had major noise issues, worse than the cheap cables that typically come with a guitar or microphone. Touching the ends of any of these cables is disastrous, resulting in very loud crunching and popping sounds that can SERIOUSLY damage your equipment.

Sorry, Monoprice, but I have spent hundreds of dollars over the years on your equipment and NEVER had to ask for a RMA on any of your products, but for these, I had to. Spend your money on something better like a Planet Waves (just not Monster Cable because they are evil and overcharge like mad) or just make your own darn cables.

    Not for Guitar to Amp
I bought two of these cables one to go from a switch pedal that changes the amp channel from clean to overdrive and the lead channel. It worked great for that, it would work fine for connect speaker cabinets and other pedals too. However, if you are using this cable to connect your guitar to the amp's input directly, it is very microphonic, it picks up slightly taping the cable, even when it's plugged in. Like I playing guitar and I was moving and I could hear the cable slide on the floor. When your playing hard, the cable is moving and you can hear this. You don't really want this if your playing live, or even in a studio, it just doesn't sound right. But other than that, it's a great cable, very high quality. I still gave it a 10 because it is a great cable and I a few comments had said they are microphonic and some didn't, so it was a gamble. But I knew it could happen and i'm just going to look for a real guitar to amp cables, these are for guitar to pedal, or pedal to pedal, or pedal to amp, what ever. They are good for anything, except for guitar to amp directly.

PROS: High Quality, Durable, Gold Ends, Sounds Great, limits noise and interference.

CONS: Microphonic in certain situations, other than that, none that I can know of.

    Guitar players rejoice!
If you're on the fence here, you must be new to Monoprice. If you buy any sort of audio cable anywhere else, you're pissing money away, and quite frankly, likely getting an inferior product. My cables take some serious abuse. After having these for a few months, all of them still work, despite having amps roll over them, being stepped on, submitted to extremely low temps, and the other abuses of rock musicians. Excellent cables!

PROS: Cheap. Seriously, as in "you're not going to find a cheaper guitar patch cable ANYWHERE" I ordered a bunch of these to wire up my studio. Not only was the price unbeatable, the cables themselves are of a higher quality than I've ever bought from any retail chain. Ask Guitar Center to price match these and watch their expression!

CONS: I should have ordered more.

    Great Speaker Cables
These cables are perfect for speaker runs. Floor monitors, cab speakers, Outdoor PA setups and i use them all the time for this at varying lengths. However taking the jackets of one of the ends its clearly visible that these are not instrument cables. If you use them on any type of guitar or bass you will most definitely get noise. When it comes to cost save your money and get these for speakers and put the savings towards a good instrument cable. -PS It would be nice to see monoprice carry cables that are instrument cables at some point.

    PROS: Price
All make this cable great for stages, traveling gigs, and outdoor venues were cables will normaly get beat up.

CONS: Not really A Con But A Warning - ** Not A Instrument Cable **

I have to agree with the reviewer who reports these as being microphonic... they very much are! I've never had a problem with any cables I've bought on here in the past, but these are causing me problems using them for my guitar.

In summary, I recommend this cable if you're connecting audio sources with 1/4in. jacks. If you're a musician and you're looking for a cheap high quality cable, PLEASE take my word and look elsewhere. This cable will disappoint in that regard.

    PROS: *Fantastic construction

*Very durable ends with springs wrapped around where the cable meets the end plug. This prevents damage very well, and I wish I had some guitar cables that had this feature

*Ends are really solid, don't think there's any chance of bending or breaking them

CONS: *This is NOT an instrument cable! I foolishly didn't read the other reviews before purchasing. These cables make a TON of noise if you move them around while they're plugged in to a guitar or bass amp. If you're using any kind of overdrive/distortion, the popping/crackling sound is intolerable

*That being said, it's on me that I didn't thoroughly read through the item description / reviews.

    15 FT guitar 1/4
The cable model number 5498 seemed too good to be true for the price. I guess you get what you pay for, because this 15' male TS to male TS failed' even though it never left the studio / rehearsal facility. Other members of the band had driven over an hour to practice, and I'm the only guitar player. I spent 45 minutes trying work arounds, but ended up having to go direct to a single channel amp. It ruined the session. Buyers beware - if you use this type of Monoprice cable, always have spares!

PROS: The cable is comprised of 16 AWG wire. It also has spring type strain reliefs, and gold plated phone jacks. Unbelievably cheap at $6.21.00,

CONS: I bought this cable along with a 6 FT on November 23, 2012. The cables never left the rehearsal studio, and I took very good care of them. I usually brought extra cables to rehearsal, but didn't last Tuesday. I use a pedalboard, and need two cables to use effects. The 15' cable failed, and it ruined my night because I had to bypass my effects.

    Great cable unbelievable price
Bought these for guitar players and interconnecting amps with DI boxes. The sound is clean and noiseless. The material is flexible for moving around with your instrument.
