Portable DJ Mixer for Tablets and Smartphones

Spin your tunes on the go with this Portable DJ Mixer for Tablets and Smartphones from Monoprice!

This 2-channel mixer packs all the essential DJ mixer functions into a compact package. It features a two-band EQ and gain control for each channel, a crossfader, and cueing capability. A 1/4" TS jack on the front is used for microphone input, while the 1/4" TRS headphone jack allows cueing of both channels without the need for switches (channel 1 audio plays in the left earpiece and channel 2 audio plays in the right).

The mixer uses RCA jacks for input and output. It has two line inputs, one for each channel, and two line outputs, the master output and a second output for recording. You can connect standard consumer audio devices or mobile devices to the inputs. The package includes two 3.5mm TRS to RCA cables, so you can hook up a pair of phones or mp3 players and start mixing right out of the box!

    The mixer measures about 6.2" x 3.9" x 1.6" (158 x 100 x 40 mm) and weighs about 2.4 lbs (1.1 Kg).

Works well for the price, with some limitations

Pros: Mic input, both channels sent to headphones, record output can be used to drive a 2nd amplifier/speaker. Simple to use. Excellent value for the money, but you do get what you pay for.

Cons: Can't send just 1 channel or other to headphones. Limited gain for low-level sources (run the sources at higher output). No white marks on controls (see Gemini MM1 or use a white Sharpie). "manual" barely qualifies as product info. Fragile controls (keep a box or padding around them for travel).

I've been using this for about a year DJing for a ballroom dancing group. Needed something small, portable, and inexpensive so I could easily switch between program sources - usually my laptop and either a 2nd/backup device or someone's iPod or phone. Pro: meets our basic needs for size and functionality. Mic input is a nice added bonus, once I found a mic that worked well with it (a dynamic mic with sufficient output). No on/of switch is a minor annoyance - I run everything off a power strip so the strip becomes the master on/off. Gain and equalizer controls are adequate. Slider works well. Simple enough to use that someone else can run things for me. Both sources are sent to the headphone jack - left source to left side, right to right. Headphone volume controls both channels together for monitoring & cueing. Slider determines what the room hears. The 2nd audio out (for record) is handy if you want to run a second amplifier or sub with a line input.
Cons: Can't run just main or 2nd source to headphones (for easier cueing). Controls lack a white mark to more easily see setting (the very similar/same? Gemini MM1 has this feature, a white Sharpie marker and a few minutes and a steady hand will let you add it to this mixer. The MM1 sells for about $5 more.). The knobs are VERY fragile - on my unit, the master volume control knob broke off, while I was able to glue it back together, the volume pot is pretty well stuck at full so I have to use the channel gain controls.
Overall, as I said, it gets the job done if you are on a tight budget and you want something small that will work with tyypical non-pro audio sources.

    Overall Happy w/Purchase

    Pros: Cheap
    Easy to use

Cons: Slider introduces static when moving - hopefully this will decrease with use.
Slider moves VERY easy - wish a little more friction.

Purchased to mix laptop line-out with Airplay device going into a stereo. While overall happy there are a 2 things that I was a little disappointed in: 1) the slider has little friction - it moves very easy - I wish there was a little feedback when moving it 2) the slider was staticy when adjusting - maybe this will improve as I use it more but right now it's introduces static when moving. I would recommend to someone looking for a cheap mixer for personal use.

Just what I needed when I needed it

Pros: Mixed the CD player and the laptop just how I needed it

Cons: None that I found for my purpose

Added some AtmosFX Halloween images to my haunt and needed a way to mix the audio from the laptop where the VLC player was generating the audio/video for the projector and the CD player that provides Grave Yard type audio constantly. Need the Atmos Audio to be much louder when active and this mixer worked great. Perfectly clean sound as if there was no Mixer in the chain. Fantastic value for it's purpose!

    Gets the job done

    Pros: Low price, small size

    Cons: Unbalanced main outputs only

Got this little mixer to serve as a backup for my main mixer. Tested it out and it works fine and should get the job done. The only thing that's "weird" is the way the cue function works for the headphones. One input is always playing in the left ear, and the other input plays in the opposite ear. I can live with it though.

    Portable and works well

Pros: Size, portability, ease of using controls. Build quality is reasonable for the price.

Cons: Power cord is a bit short, limits where you can place it without an extension. A little hard to figure out where some of the controls are positions - the tone controls do have a detent, gain does not. An on/off switch would be nice but is not essential.

I am using this to make it easier to switch inputs between a laptop and a secondary music source (iPod, phone, 2nd laptop). The mixer works very well, is easy to use, and does the job for me.
