Questions and Answers
Well, I have 4 more on order, and I can't wait.
Take a look at the photos, the lights actually looked better without a camera lens adjusting for brightness... The bright spots aren't as noticeable, and we also ended up mounting them from the ceiling and it has a better angle so it lights up the whole scrim.
All in all, VERY impressed! (As always with Monoprice)
PROS: Bright, great DMX response time, Cheap, great colours
CONS: Apparently they are not supposed to be left plugged in... which is impossible on the setup we have where we mounted them from the ceiling.
They do bleed quite a bit... online it says 25, 45 degrees... no idea how it can be both... I'd lean towards 45.
I have been very pleased with how bright these lights are and the great color response. They provide very saturate and true LED coloring. They also respond very well to DMX, allowing control from a professional light board. I am looking forward to seeing what other lights Monoprice delivers in the future! I have always been very pleased.
PROS: Great Colors
Great Dimming Curve
CONS: Yolk does not get very tight
Dual yolks make it difficult to plug in DMX sometimes
5 months ago
PROS: I order 2 of these to check them out and were very happy with them. We then ordered a total of 18 of them. We use them as back and overhead lights in 2 Halls on our Church stages. Also use as uplights when needed. Did have to make a mount stand 12x12 plywood and some screws and washers so DMX would plug in but that was easy.
CONS: Only one has given us any problems (blue LEDs stopped working) Mono price has already sent a replacement.
Monoprice return policy is great! Service is wonderful!
PROS: I ordered 2 of these lights based on the reviews and the RGBW . I pluged one in and hooked it up to my scene setter board and played around with it for a bit was impressed with smooth color mix and was brighter than i expected. So I drilled out the mounts so I could fit stadared pipe clamps put them back in box for show I had next day. Should have tested both but I did not :( the second light did not power on at all DOA Lucky I had a slim par with me.
CONS: did not work out of box Mount hole to small for standared pipe clamps have to be drilled out, no powwerlink
But here's the problem: Of the four units, the display on the back of the unit went completely dark (broke) so you can't program it, or even set the DMX channel and mode for light board use. This has been a trend for us with Monoprice electronics. The TV mounts are great, most cables too, but often the electronics either start getting flaky (work internittently) or fail totally about 12-18 months in. This experience is based on hundreds of dollars spent at MP over the last several years, with all kinds of product. No sour grapes, just fact.
PROS: Nice, strong light
Good color mix optics (no single-color hotspots when using blended colors).
CONS: LIke many Monoprice electronics we have used, flaky and prone to failure (the LED panel went out about when the warranty expired).
PROS: Nice and Bright. Solid Construction. Easy to work with.
CONS: Legs could be a little longer to use for straight XLR DMX cable to plug in for floor up-lighting.
PROS: Super Bright
Smooth Color Fade
Easy to use LCD menu
CONS: DMX In/Out connector placement
PROS: Great light, easy to program and control with the DMX-512 controller
PROS: Small format, Bright, Killer Price
CONS: Clamp hole slightly too small
