fantastic, crisp screen. It was simple to install and provides a major upgrade to any laptop running with an HDMI port.

Not sure if this is even still a current model sold by Monoprice. I bought mine over a year ago, and it's been fantastic. I love the 4K resolution, and this monitor looks fantastic. I did have to buy a faster video card for my computer, because my Geforce 960 couldn't cut it in almost all games at 4K resolution. So I got a faster graphics card, and playing games at 4K with framerate pegged at 60fps is really awesome. I've been highly satisfied with this monitor.

One caveat: the glossy screen of this monitor is very reflective. I keep my mancave fairly dark so I don't notice it much anymore, but if you have bright lights (even daylight shining through windows onto things behind you) you can get lots of reflections on this screen. Some people could find it distracting. I don't notice it much, but it is something some will notice a lot.

Display is of decent quality. Not the sharpest display and backlight performance is ok. There are definitely hot spots and cold spots with backlighting and the dynamic contrast is borderline distracting how much it corrects.
Display has a foreign object on the inside of the glass and when support was contacted they explained I would have to ship the item back first before a new one would be shipped. I am surprised that an option for an express shipment is not possible and there was very little empathy from the customer service rep. Being that this is ordered for a business, I was surprised with how rigid the rep was.

PROS: Cheap price

CONS: Cheap quality and support

Good value, would have been great except for the one dead pixel. Careful during unboxing not to overlook the small screws for the stand.

The viewing angle and color fidelity of this TN-panel is great. No dead pixels on my unit and colors look good. The on-screen menus have a lot of information and controls which I like to have available, even though I rarely touch the menus after initial setup.

I was not able to sustain 60Hz on my unit. I'm not going to blame the monitor as it could be the DisplayPort cable or the video card. Attempts to run 4K @ 60Hz would produce a lot of video glitching and errors, eventually something (video card driver?) would give up and degrade to 4K @ 30Hz and it's silky smooth from there on out. 30Hz is acceptable for my purposes, but keep this in mind if you are looking at this unit for the advertised 60Hz capability.

For completeness, some of the other minor idiosyncrasies I've had to deal with:

(1) Scaler. ALWAYS run this monitor at native 4K resolution, because otherwise the built-in resolution upscaler kicks in and it renders strange visual artifacts all over the place. The rectangle where the on-screen menu comes up? Sometimes that area is rendered a frame behind than the rest of the screen. (!?) Game players who want better frame rate will need to turn down their graphic detail, because running at lower resolution is not a viable option.

(2) Standby: After going into standby ~10 times, it will no longer wake back up. Even the power button does nothing, it has to be disconnected from power to be reset. Workaround: plug it into a power strip, and use the switch on the power strip.

(3) Backlight. It is not totally even, with blotches of tiny-bit-brighter near the center of the screen. But it's even enough I only notice when the screen is completely black. All-black rarely happens in my usage so it doesn't bother me much.

(4) Speakers. For an office PC where the only audio that needs to be heard is an error beep, it is fine. The quality is too poor for anything else. Use headphones or external speakers.

PROS: Good color and viewing angles, no dead pixels. Good controls.

CONS: Poor upscaler. Speakers of last resort. Sometimes goes to sleep and refuses to wake up.

I have been using this monitor with a macbook pro and the 4k quality is great. People cannot read what is on my screen from 3 feet away. The most common thing people ask me is how can you see that, because they are not used to seeing 4k resolution. I quickly adjusted to the tight 4k resolution and smaller text size.

Out of the box: I fell in love with the screen. At first I had the monitor at the back of my desk about 2.5ft from where I was sitting and found myself thinking everything was small, but that was expected. Normal people may turn on GUI scaling in Windows or use a Retina/HiDPI mode in Mac, but I purchased the monitor to increase screen space. So I moved the monitor to about 1-1.5ft from my face and was much more comfortable. :)

Gaming Performance: As someone who dabbles in CS:GO, I would normally run CS at 720p to gain the highest framerate and lowest lag (on Mac OS with a GTX960 btw). Immediately firing up CS:GO after changing my desktop resolution to 720p (without scaling) caused a noticeable input lag. This is due to the monitor having a TV-like upscaling system built in. The upscaling algorithm is fantastic too, but not great for gaming. My solution was to simply run Mac OS at one of the HiDPI modes (or native 4k) and leave CS at a low resolution. Besides that small work around I think it is perfect.

PROBLEMS: My main complaint is the fact that there is a stuck pixel, and 2 or 3 pieces of dirt stuck beneath the glass. Truthfully it's not that big of an issue but it is noticed on bright backgrounds. The only other complaint is a very mild darkness on the left side of the screen. It is (without knowing how this monitor was made) as if the backlight diffuser has been slid to the right of the panel. Not that large of an issue.

Overall: I love the monitor and the productivity boost having more screen space enables is totally worth the small resolution workarounds needed for gaming. :)

I bought this in April after deciding that I needed to be better than everyone else by having a 4K screen. I sure pulled that off! Luckily had no dead or stuck pixels, very little backlight bleed or color issues. It has a reflective plastic screen but I dont find it to be too reflective as long as I place it at a proper position to stay clear of light. It has a stable stand and a strong aluminum bezel that makes it seems expensive. The ports in the back are all youd ever need for the time being, and it has speakers built in. but they may sound like crap. Overall, I really loved having the monitors.

They are the best looking and best picture I think you can get at this price. But both of mine have eventually found their way back to Monoprice for the screen flicker the seemingly only plagues me through the use of any of my computers. The image gets scrambled after a few minutes of use and the images go all over the place.

PROS: High quality bezel, great price, decent size/res ratio, 60hz, one-year warranty.

CONS: Signal receiver seems to die after a few weeks. Good thing theres a one year warranty!

I respect what Monoprice is trying to do here in offering the cheapest 4k monitor on the market. If you go into it with that in mind, you can keep your expectations very low. I bought 1, then liking it I bought a second. The second one was a different model without the rotating stand and with a matt finish screen rather than glossy. The screen is better, the stand is worse. Then, the first one started having problems booting up where the backlight would come on, but it took several minutes of fragmented video before the full screen would appear. Being the cheapest 4k on the planet, cross-ship replacement is not an option from Monoprice. I had to do without one monitor for 10 days. Not big problem when I have multiple monitors, but if this is your only monitor, not a very nice arrangement. HP and Dell cross-ship replacement monitors. I buy monitors for a mid-sized business, and I probably won't be buying any more of these. I don't need the trouble just to save a few bucks.

PROS: Cheap, Good looking screen. Cheap. Non-glare screen

CONS: No cross-ship on warranty replacements. New model doesn't have the base that can rotate to portrait orientation. My unit failed.

This review is based on my experience with my display: I reference other reviews from the introduction of the monitor, and I am not nay-saying the writers of those. My experiences are what I am seeing.

I looked at this monitor and the growing pile of user and published reviews. When I was ready to try it out, they were out of stock for about 2-3 months, so I had to wait quite a bit more. But they finally arrived mid-August 2015 and I waved my plastic and it appeared in 4 days.

It took me a week or two to find time to unbox it and cable it up. At first it took a bit of time to get the audio working ( and was disappointed that the reviews were correct: it is tinny and not great, but I did not grade this lower on that account). The brightness of the screen, in my dark basement lab, was overpowering. I dialed back the brightness and it works much better. The glossy finish of the display is also not my favorite choice, but by managing light sources and angles it can be controlled.

The color for my photos, games and work is great: bright colors and solid blacks is good and there are no bad pixels on this display.

The ability to easily make this a portrait display is great: I have an old Gateway 24" monitor that did that (10 years ago) and have always loved that ability to see things page-size (or even more).

I am currently using the included base: I have it on a good solid table and it isn't at all jiggly or weak for holding the display. I do plan to migrate this to a wall-mounted system before long, so I can set and leave multiple monitors, but as a desktop it is good.

In all, this is a cost and feature competitive display definitely worth considering if you are looking for a dense pixel display. I have seen some better ones, but they came at higher costs. Like every purchase I have made from Monoprice, I leave the transaction satisfied and with good quality gear. I began purchasing cables, and now I am buying bigger ticket items: I like the variety Monoprice presents and will keep up with their work.

PROS: Wonderful display rich colors with no variations around the screen. Solid blacks.

Well supported by my preferred video cards (NVidia) and Mac. MacBook Pro mid 2014.

Base is solid and steady not as shaky as some reviewers reported



CONS: Would have preferred a 16:10 display, but that is my preference and well understood prior to purchase.
