I hate having bulky power plugs and adapters visible all over the place in my car, so this accessory is really quite nice. I plugged it into the 12V port in my center console, and was able to mount the actual body of the unit up under the drivers side dashboard paneling so it is basically hidden from sight. The base plate comes with double-sided tape so you can mount it on any flat surface in your car.

I was not sure whether the USB port would work for charging my iPhone 3G, since Apple made some changes to the charging circuitry when the 3G came out, and many other USB car adapters are not compatible, but this one works just fine with no prompts about incompatibility or interference. Its great that I can have my Garmin GPS unit plugged in at the same time using one of the 12V cigarette-style ports, with yet another 12V port open for those occasions when I need to plug in an a/c inverter or some other device. The packaging is all in French, but who cares when the device just plain works!

    Cheap but, Cheap
Worked pretty well, the sticky bottom however didn't stick to much so I ended up just leaving it in my center console.

I didn't have any issues until it just up and stopped working, not sure why. Not sure if I want to buy another one or look for an alternative.

    Very nice!
For what is it, it is great. Monoprice: Now that most cellphones, MP3s, bluetooth adapters and GPS units use USB Micro B, please bring out V.2 with 3 or more USB sockets so we can carry more Micro "B" USB cables instead of bulky chargers.

PROS: The flashlight really comes in handy.

    Not a bad device
gives 2 cigarette lighter sockets and 1 usb port (that works with iPhone 3GS)
just make sure you hold it when you try to put any devices in

    Nice!
Neat product! Everything works, and I especially like the USB port, which allows me to charge my Driod phone without buying a car charger.

    PROS: Everything works as described.

    CONS: None

    Not Quite
I had so much high hopes for this device. I got it for one thing and one thing only, the usb port. Because I only have one outlet port in my car, I needed another option since my sirius radio is always connected. With the purchase of a new smartphone, I need to keep my battery alive so that I can use various of apps (like Trapsters) while driving. This was supposed to be my ace in the hole.

When I placed it in my car, I hooked my radio to it and saw it lose connection. The plug almost needs jammed in the socket to keep it connected. Then, with the usb port again, it seems I have to jam the cord in. I have to jump through hoops just to get my phone (palm pre) to begin charging. I dont know.. The quality of the charger isn't the greatest. This is my suspicion as to why it is hard to keep my thing plugged-in and charging. (side note: there was only one sentence on the package in english)

I don't want to blame everything on this device, but ... ?? I also have a "new" phone so it may be part of the reason also. As for me, if you can deal with occassion lost of power (especially depending on placement) and somewhat large sockets then this charger is "okay" for a temporary charge until you get to where you are going.

    Doesn't have high-powered output
The power output does not keep up with the drain on my iPhone and my iPod Touch when in use. All this item does is keep the battery from draining as quickly. Even when I only have my iPhone hooked up, it still does not keep the charge from dropping, much less charging the iPhone while in use (I use the iPhone GPS a lot while driving with live traffic updates). Using a USB converter plugged directly into the cigarette lighter works great - it not only keep my iPhone from losing power, but also charges it while in use!

Overall, I'm not happy with the two that I bought because of this. It defeats the purpose of splitting up the single access point into multiple power sources.

PROS: Good for splitting a single-point-of-access into multiple power access points.

CONS: Output power is too low to support an iPhone or iPod Touch.

    Response from Monoprice
    Hello Mel,

Thank you for your review. Keep in mind this charger can only support an output of 500mA. While the iPhone and iPod touch require 1000mA. So technically this will not be able to charge this your device. If you are looking for something that will charge your iPhone I would recommend this PID# instead.

    My bad?
I’m just ordered a replacement. :-( In taking the unit apart to inspect (yes, after I smoked it) the internal construction seems to be pretty sturdy. I mean you can't run over it with your car, it's just cheap plastic but for everyday use / wear and tear it seems to be fine. Of course since I haven't actually been able to 'use' it I can't speak to its operational qualities yet.

PROS: Has 3 outputs, one USB and two 12v (cigarette lighter style) connectors. Has a mounting bracket that allows the unit to be detached from the vehicle.

CONS: The power switch on the unit only controls the light. (My 2011 Escape 12v connector remains on all the time even when the key is off)

I modified the device by adding a plug that has a power switch. In doing so I matched the wire, ridged side to ridge side and smooth side to smooth side w/o checking. The unit I received is wired backwards in that regard so I smoked the MT34063T DC to DC converter in the device.

    Poorly made.
The price is good but looking to replace with better quality product.

    PROS: The price.

CONS: I just ordered my third one in less than a year. The positive solder joints comes loose after awhile making product no good.

    Disappointed
A terrific idea. I thought this was the solution to keeping everyone happy and plugged in on our 11-hour road trips. The first trip we used this gadget, within the first two hours my son said his iPod was not charging. I reached down to check that it was plugged in and the multi-socket unit was too hot to touch. I unplugged it immediately and threw it away. Sad, because it was a great idea!

PROS: This would be the perfect solution to a family of five all having a port to charge their devices on long road trips.

CONS: overheated within first 2 hours of first use.
