Questions and Answers
PROS: Exactly what I was wanting, works great, easy to install, easy to position.
CONS: Cabling is kind of a pain but to look good it just takes a little extra time and I was able to fit 3 cables ( 2 HDMI and 1 TV power cord) down the pipe. I recommend running cabling before putting the tv on the mount or before mounting the pole to the ceiling or desk/whatever.
PROS: Works like a champ, easy to install.
CONS: I thought it was able to spin 360 degrees, it does not. It spins maybe 200 degrees, so it works for my purposes.
PROS: Easy to mount, plenty of hardware for attaching mount to wooden stud or concrete. I have it mounted to an outdoor covered patio using wooden studs.
CONS: The pipe when holding TV has some play, so it don't feel really firm. Mounted to a 42 in LED TV, which weighs only 26lbs, not even half the maximum weight limit. The 10 degree tilt +/- have not used it yet, since it seems to fit a perfect angle with the play
Just as good as mounts costing 5X as much
Easy enough to put together (after experimenting with hard-to-identify hardware)
CONS: Even at its shortest length, it's still much lower than I'd like.
Instructions don't help the user figure out which size-hardware is which
PROS: Everything works great! Excellent quality, much better than expected. Will buy more products from monoprice!
Also, the holes in the posts that allow hidden cable runs were way too small to even run a thick HDMI cable through (with large ferrite beads). I wish that was bigger, I had to zip tie the HDMI and power cables to the exterior of the pole. Again, not a huge deal.
I mounted a 30lb TV, and the post definitely leans out quite a bit, so don't expect the post to stay perpendicular to the ceiling with a heavier TV. It's a sturdy mount, but there is a fair amount of "play" in the post. The play comes from how the post mounts to the ceiling plate. It's fine since you can adjust the angle of the TV to compensate, but if you are trying to get a very specific screen position, you'll need to factor in this "sway".
Good product, Monoprice!
CONS: Hole to run cables is too small.
Mounting plate Trim makes creaking noises.
