10 Outlet Power Surge Protector w/ Sliding Safety Covers - 2880 Joules

Protect your electronic equipment from damaging voltage and current spikes with this Monoprice surge protector!

This model includes ten protected power outlets, 4 of which are positioned for AC power adapters, and two pairs of gold plated coaxial/RF line protection circuits. The clear plastic tabs on the sides of the unit illuminate green to indicate when the surge protector is providing protection to your equipment and when a proper ground is detected.

When the protection circuitry has been fully consumed by power and current spikes, the protection light will no longer illuminate, indicating that the surge protector should be replaced. When the grounded tab is not illuminated it indicates that there is a problem with the house wiring and that the ground is not properly connected to the power outlet.

The surge protector has 4 keyholes on the back, allowing it to be secured to a wall or other surface.

    Pros: Cost

    Cons: None

I have now purchased this or similar surge protectors several times and am extremely happy with the cost and performance. The capabilities of this item meet or exceed much more expensive surge protectors.

Pros: Number of outlets and size

    Cons: NONE

I just wanted a basic power strip when I DJ but this one is more than perfect. I have more than enough outlets plus it's not all bulky and I have three extras when guest need to charge their phones. Get this one, you can't go wrong.

Pros: Nice spread of sockets for the big brick type to multiple iPod/Pad "cubes". Well made.

Cons: Lights are a tad bright unless you like emulating Kermit's skin tones.

I purchased a few dozen 10 outlet models for classrooms in my school district three years ago. They are still looking good and are functioning as expected. The one thing I don't expect them to do is protect our computer equipment from lightning strikes.
A common surge protector will stop voltage spikes and surges, but not the violent, catastrophic burst of current from a close lightning strike. Direct lightning current is simply too big to protect with a little electronic device inside a power strip, or even a hefty UPS unit ... and we have a few of those scattered around the building also.
If there is a thunder/lightning storm you need to disconnect devices from their power source or risk the consequences. Even the highest joule rated surge protector isn't going to stop surge damage resulting from a lightning strike.

    The light is blinding

Pros: Plenty of room for wall-warts and plugs

Cons: LEDs are too bright for full time use in a bedroom(unless you want a night light, then its a PRO)

It's a great surge protector in that there is plenty of room for 4 wall-wart transformers and still have access to the 6 other outlets for normal plugs. My only complaint(if you can call it that) is the LED lights to indicate surge protection and that the unit is turned on function as a very bright night light. Although I bought this for the living room and my office so that's not a deal breaker but I definitely would not use one of these in my bedroom.

Pros: They're clean and simple, lie flat or you can add 2 screws (or 1) to attach it to a wall, they light up so I can see that the power is on, they can absorb 2,880 joules of energy (very good for computers or a media center), and they're very affordable. I'm replacing several ancient ones on computer systems. And, I purchased 6 of these from Monoprice !

    Cons: No cons.

This product is exactly what I was looking for, and I'm glad I found it on Monoprice (where else?)
