Questions and Answers
I'd give this a 10, but I have 2 relatively minor cons. First off, the instructions could use some work. Primarily, the size of the pilot holes (1/2") that they instruct you to drill are way too big. I learned this lesson the hard way and had to drill another hole using a 1/4" bit instead. Secondly, it would have been nice if they included a built-in level into the wall bracket for an even easier install, but you can't complain too much about that because of the price.
I opted not to buy the swiveling type, because they sat a minimum of 5 inches from the wall.
I opted not to buy the "slim profile" type, because of reported problems with stability and sag.
This model was in the standard class, but it still sits very close to the wall. Before you mount your TV on the wall, make sure you have all your cables and power cords connected to your TV, as it will be too close to the wall for you to add cables without removing it. I used the swiveling-type HDMI adapters on this site, and they work great.
I gave the bracket a 9/10, for the reasons listed in "Cons".
PROS: + Spans across 3 studs for maximum stability.
+ Does not require a long screwdriver, as other models do, to secure the TV on the unit.
+ Very clean look/close to wall.
+ Solid construction.
+ Excellent price.
CONS: - If the distance between the two mounting screw holes on your display is less than 400mm width-wise, you won't be able to use the security brackets, which insure that the TV can not be dislodged off the mounting bracket if it is pushed upward. This is because the security brackets are not long enough to slide in and secure the TV if the mounting holes are closer together than this.
- The installation instructions erroneously show that a 10mm hole should be drilled into the studs. A 6mm hole should actually be drilled. A 10mm hole should only be drilled if you are mounting into a masonry wall and are using the supplied masonry anchors.
PROS: Better screws than other mounts that I bought from monoprice.
PROS: This is a good simple mount... very basic. The screen mount bracket has four hooks, these rest on the dual lips of the wall mount bracket, which has many mounting holes to accomodate different stud widths and such. One pro is that it has so many mounting holes, it is realistic to mount with just drywall anchors, as you can easilly fit 12 heavy duty anchors into an arrangement.
CONS: Watch out for a mistake in the instructions... it says to drill 3/8" holes for mounting to wood studs, but this is the size for the concrete anchors, not the stud mounts (the holes should be only 6mm). I blithely followed the instructions and then had to figure out what to do with oversized holes in the studs right where I wanted to mount my screen.
PROS: Just as described, with a nice low profile and very clool locking mechanism.
CONS: No cons.
Used this mount to hang my Panasonic 65" VT30. I had to use the large spacers provided. The only issue I had was with the TV power cord. I ended up having to feed it behind the wall with the HDMI cables because it stuck out just a hair too much even with a recessed electrical plug.
Recommend using the Monoprice flat HDMI cables as the clearance is very minimal.
CONS: The built in level is not accurate but was not expecting it to be.
