Finishing basement and would love to get this for all my audio in one place but wondering do I need to get a 3gang new box to attach to stud before sheetrock is finished??

BEST ANSWER: I used a 3-gang “new-work box” when installing mine and it worked fine. I would recommend getting an extra deep box if you are using 16 gauge or lower speaker wire to give you enough room for banana plugs and to bend the HDMI cable into place.

I mounted mine in a A/V rack, so I didn't need a box in the wall. The wires come out through a plate on the wall.
If you are mounting this plate on the wall you will need a 3 gang box. The deeper the better; there are a lot of wires.

We used a low voltage boxes for all our speaker setup........you obviosly need to run all your cables before the drywall goes in.....Monoprice is good stuff...for sure

yes, you need to put the 3 gang box in before drywall. You can use a low voltage one, or just cut the back off a normal high voltage one to make your life easier.

BEST ANSWER: You can use a “new work box”, which needs to be anchored to a stud. Or use a “remodel” box which mounts between studs in existing drywall.
Since speakers are low voltage, you can use the yellow low-voltage boxes-the ones with no back on them. They work fine. I believe Monoprice sells the triples. Remember that speaker cables run in the wall needs to be CL rated.

You don't need an actual box, just the 3-gang low voltage mounting bracket. The plate will affix to it.

BEST ANSWER: yes, there are binding posts on both sides of the panel along with the banana plug receptacles. Of course, the HDMI cannot be connected bare wire.

Yup. That’s exactly how I did mine. The screws can be a bit squirrelly to work, but once you figure it out, it’s fine. I would buy again and again.

I see that the HDMI coupler supports 4K and HDR, but is it also ARC compatible? I don’t know enough about ARC to know if it requires a unique coupler.

If it supports 4k and HDR, then it supports ARC. HDR and 4k were introduced in a later HDMI spec.

I wanted to use this "3-Gang 7.1 Surround Sound Distribution Wall Plate " with following modification:
- Use a "decor insert having HDMI + cat5 + coaxial" or "decor insert with 3 keystone ports" in one of the gang of this wall plate.
Is this possible? is there such an insert?

I have MP wall plate (MP ID#6907) which I had intended to use banana plugs (MP ID# 21822 or 21916 or 21913) on both sides. However, I've discovered that I cannot fit a plug into each side of the female connector. Am I doing something wrong or are there plugs with shorter ends to accommodate this setup or is it common to use bare wire for one side? If using bare wire on one side, does that interfere with the sound quality (assuming the bare wire is properly secured)?

Nicely Arranged Wall Plate
This had just about everything for the back of my home theater area except that I needed to change the center plate to accommodate just front and rear center channel speakers. This is very reasonably priced considering the number of speaker terminals.
