BEST ANSWER: Thank you for for interest in this In-wall speaker. This 3-way speaker can be mounted in the ceiling. If you have the room in your ceiling space the 7605 Caliber In Ceiling Speakers 6.5 Inch Fiber 3-Way with Concentric Mid/Highs may be a better choice.

Technically they can. You will probably need to fabricate extra braces so your ceiling does not sag over time.

I am using them in the ceiling. They nicely replaced existing speakers of the same (rectangular) shape (and weight) whose cone suspension had gone bad after 16 years.
I had to put little bends in the edge of the grills so they would not fall out but that worked fine.

BEST ANSWER: I have used both. and honestly they sound very similar except that the 7607 speakers have a bit more midrange (if you like that)

can these be installed in an exterior wall with insulation?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. I installed mine in an exterior wall and moved the insulation to the sides. There is also a small amount of room behind the speaker to allow a thin layer of insulation.

Yes. That is what I did. I used the Roxul soundproof insulation and the speakers fitted ok.

How will the 7607's hold up outside under a covered area?

BEST ANSWER: IF these are outside but in-wall and covered, in an area that does not get ANY direct water, I would think you'll be just fine and get a long life out of these. I do professional audio, and if I wanted speakers outside and in-wall I would move forward with these, no question about it.

I think the answer to this will depend on the amount of moisture in your area. In Arizona, this should do very well. At the beach, I would be quite surprised if it (or any non-waterproof) speaker does well--when you are in a very damp area, all kinds of bad things happen to speakers.

in "full specs" section the total wattage of Caliber In-Wall Speakers 6.5-Inch Fiber 3-Way is 80 watts nominal @ 8ohms. i want to know in detail, what is the wattage of midrange and ohms ?, what is the wattage of woofer and ohms? , what is the wattage of tweeter and ohms?

BEST ANSWER: Hmmm, it has been a while since I studied audio circuits. I work with electronics; but, not with audio. I did have to take a communications class (Radio & TV) in college. So, from what I remember the 8Ω impedance is averaged over the frequency range of the speaker (in this case 3 speakers in one box). Looking at the speaker there are filters (capacitor and inductor -- with the inductive reactance of the speaker itself taken into consideration) to deliver the proper frequency range to each of the speakers -- ie. low pass filter to woofer, high pass filter to tweeter, the leftover goes to mid-range. So, the amplifier has to be able to deliver ~3.16Amps to the speaker (from I^2*R=P) to get the maximum power from the speaker. I guess I'm not sure why you are asking for specifications on each of the 3 speakers, unless you are planning to use a limited frequency range or you are going to disassemble the speaker into 3 separate speakers...

What is the max thickness of the wall that these in-wall speakers, model 4100, 4101, and 7607, can clip onto? I have double drywall (1/2" each), so the clips need to be able to handle a 1" wall.
Will the 4101 (2 ways 8" woofer) model fit in regular 2x4 stud walls?

Caliber In-Wall Speakers 6.5in Fiber 3-Way
I bought 2 pair of these as part of a 5.1 Surround Setup. Good sound and well made. Installation was easy. The grills look good even without painting, but they will be painted eventually.

Great sound in an affordable price range
I am very impressed with the clarity and range - I have 5 pairs of these connected to a whole house (6 zone) amplifier with speaker controls in each room. Very pleased! Some are wall mounted, others ceiling mounted - they work great for either!

Nicely replaced ceiling speakers whose cone suspension had rotted.
My house had speakers this shape in the ceiling in the back of a "media room".I noticed distortion coming from the back left speaker and took off the grill to see what was going on.It turned out the 16-year-old speakers:1. Were from Radio Shack in 20012. Were much fancier than I expected3. Had a rotted out foam cone suspension - hence the distortionThese speakers mounted into almost exactly the same size hole as the old ones. I only had to shave off about 1/8" of sheetrock on one side.Because these were meant to be wall mount speakers, the grills tended to fall out when in the ceiling. We fixed that by introducing slight bends in the edge of the metail grills.

Great speakers
Bought similar speakers at Menards. Not even close in comparison. Returned Menards speakers and purchased more from Monoprice. All of our theater room speakers are from Monoprice.. Very pleased.
