Micro USB to HDMI® MHL Adapter - Black
MHL is here!
The Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) is a new standard for use with tablets and smartphones. It sends the audio and video signals through the micro USB connector and converts it to an HDMI® signal for use on HDTVs. The signal remains in digital format throughout the entire transmission and conversion process, so no quality is lost.
This adapter is designed to this new standard and allows you to connect your MHL device, such as an HTC EVO 3D or Samsung Galaxy S3, to your high-definition TV. It supports all video resolutions, including 1080p, and up to 8 channels of audio (for 7.1 surround sound). It also supports 3D video and HDCP media protection.
Some devices (such as the HTC EVO 3D) can supply sufficient power from their internal batteries to drive the adapter. For others, or in the event you want to charge your device while using the AV output, you can plug your charger into the micro USB port on the side of the adapter.
The current list of MHL compatible devices from the top three Android phone manufacturers includes the following devices. (Mouse over name for a list of associated model numbers.)

Not giving a negative score because this supposedly should work on Samsung's OS.
1.) Attach your charging cable to the micro USB port on the side of the MHL adapter. (You can use a wall charger, a PS3 or XBox 360 USB port (they're powered), or the USB port on your HDTV, since it does provide power.)
2.) Attach the HDMI cable of your choosing to the HDMI port on the far end of the adapter.
3.) Plug the micro USB cable end of the adapter to your phone.
...that's it. Seriously. If your device is MHL certified, it'll auto detect the HDMI connection and send it to your TV or monitor. No software configurations, or hardware detection required. It's literally plug and play, not plug n' pray.
If you have a device with Beats Audio (such as a Droid by HTC), it will not allow the audio enhancement to go through. However, it will still allow 2.0-7.1 channels of sound to go to your A/V system (or TV), depending on the file or app being used.
NOTE: This works with 5 pin micro USB ports. Some newer Samsung devices use 11 pins. If your device is one of those, you'll need the 11 to 5 pin adapter. You'll do the same thing you did here, but you're just adding the 11 to 5 adapter to the USB before the MHL adapter is attached to your phone. It's just one more step, but it's still super easy.
I am really impressed with the quality and the price. The service and shipping was blazing fast, in fact... I received it a day early! Monoprice has won me over and has a customer for life. I can't recommend them enough.

On my original order, they misread the item number and sent me the wrong item, sending me a USB wi-fi adapter instead. After I reported the mistake, the quickly sent me the MHL adapter, and told me to keep the USB wi-fi adapter, and apologized for their mistake. Very good customer service if you ask me.
