works fine. Video looks considerably better on HD monitor now
If you have an HD monitor, and play the Wii, just get this. it's too cheap not to, and improves the video quality more than enough to justify it. Cable supports audio and video. Just REMEMBER TO SWITCH OVER THE SETTING IN THE WII, TO USE THE BETTER QUALITY CABLE, otherwise you won't notice any difference.

PROS: High quality, thick, well made cable.

CONS: Cable is almost too heavy duty, more substantially built than anything else on the Wii.

Did not work with my Wii
Did not output a clean signal to the TV, (Samsung 46" HDTV), so the TV wouldn't accept it. I have a smaller 27" Sony that accepted the signal however there were lines of static running vertically up the screen. I purchased a separate brand of component cables from a different retailer and those worked as expected. From this I determined it wasn't my Wii that was the source of the issue, it was the cables. Maybe I got some bad cables because most of the reviews for these are positive. Maybe they don't have enough shielding for my particular environment. I would return but I got these over a year ago and just tried them now.

    PROS: None. See cons.

CONS: Didn't work in my application.

I have used several generic wii component cables and they all caused strange diagonal lines that ran across screen in 480p mode. Bought these cables because of the great reviews on several other websites and do not regret it! Works perfectly! Only possible complaint is that cable is a bit stiff, but that is a minor issue, probably a non issue for most people.

    PROS: Great Picture quality

    Great Price

    CONS: Very Stiff Cable

    Works fairly well, good value.
Of course, as previously said, all problems mentioned above were mostly caused by the Wii, or a combination of the Wii and the display device. (Nothing to do with the cable itself.) I can say that I'm quite sure that the Monoprice cable is not causing any of the problems based on what I'm reading about the official Nintendo cable elsewhere.

In any case, despite all the problems, it's still well worth dropping a bit of money for the cable. That said, the Wii itself can only do so much. It's unfortunate because a game as amazing as Skyward Sword deserves much better hardware than the vastly outdated stuff on the Wii. However, this is the best that can be done now, and the game manages to maintain a nice artistic look despite the graphical issues.

PROS: Low cost, works as well as any other cable for 480p on Wii. Connectors and cabling appear to be of very high build quality.

CONS: (All of these problems are caused by the Wii's terrible GPU design choices, or by a mix of that and of the display device, not by the cable, or so according to what I've read and seen.)

Some TV's do not upscale 480p very well and introduce artifacts when using this. I've only used this cable for Skyward Sword so far, but have had lots of scanline-like artifacts on the main TV I use. (Sony KDL55EX500 bad TV for gaming anyways: poor scalar and analog processing, and annoying input lag even on gaming mode over 1080p HDMI great TV for watching though) On another TV I don't seem to get the problem due to a better scalar (and the fact that its 1366x768 instead of 1080p), but it's not always easy to tell which TV's manage component effectively. The main problem here is Nintendo's decision to not support any modern standards if HDMI/VGA support were introduced to the Wii, these problems wouldn't be there. (And nowadays, both standards are dirt cheap to support no excuse not to do so.)

In the end, 480p doesn't look very great anyways. It's a good step above 480i (a HUGE step on certain displays), but you'll still get a better picture from high quality over-the-air broadcasts. (Which is kind of sad IMO.)

Now, the only actual con about the cable is that it's a little stiff. It also lacks a composite connection which would make things more convenient and allow one to take the cable anywhere (to TV's that don't support component). However, these two issues are no big deal at all and certainly have no bearing on my decision to buy it.

    Component Cable
This product is great! Cheaper than the "brand" one and do the same job!
Since this console only do 480p you dont realy need thoses "deoxidized","specially twist" cables exept if you have a monitor with a really cheap analog to digital converter... but ... that not the subject here.

If you have a progresive compatible or a HD monitor, you realy want to use component for this console, image will be sharper and the color more vivid.

If you're looking at this item, it's exactly what you think it is and yes you do want it. Beware though, it doesn't work with all games - I would even say it doesn't work with MOST games, but that could just be my collection.

Greating jacketing plug and play operation!
My TV only had 1 HDMI input and it was taken up by a Blu-ray plaer thaat only had HDMI as an output. Bought this so that the kids new WII U would work via component to the TV ( plenty of component inputs ). Cable works perfectly at max resolution of my TV ( 1080i ) with the same overscan settings as the HDMI of the Wii U.

I liked the snakeskin cover over the cables to prevent tight coils and abrasions, really a great back for buck!

    PROS: Well made
    Nice cable covering
    SnakeSkin
    High-Def

CONS: Wish it came in black

Excellent cable so far. Build quality is quite nice. Replaced a universal component cable I used previously. Used on a SDTV with component video input. Can't beat it for the price. Got one for my parents as well.

    Sensible Upgrade
Physically, this is an excellent cable. It's well made and has better shielding than the Nintendo cables.

Upgrading your Wii's video connection from the single, yellow RCA connection to the triple RCA component (colorstream) connection this cable offers is definitely worthwhile. Just installing the cable really cleans-up the video signal and once you go into your Wii's configuration menu and change the video mode from the default of 480i to 480p, you'll have a very crisp, easy-on-the eyes screen image.

The reason I'm dinging this cable two points is because the red component video plug looks identical to the red audio component plug and you have to slow-down and look a little extra hard to make sure you're not crossing these connections. They should really add some markings to the audio plugs to further distinguish them from the video plugs.

    Replacment Wii connection cable
Not a good product. It doesn't work. The picture comes in only in black and white, the a/v connections are loose and there is an awful feedback on the audio channels.

Not to mention the color scheme for the cables are random colors that don't match the basic a/v colors.

    PROS: Durable.

CONS: Doesn't work. Picture is in black and white and has awful feedback from both audio channels.
