PROS: value, fit and finish, ease of install
PROS: Shelves are superbly made and fit very nicely on the bracket. High quality and they look great. You can't get anything comparable to this for 3x the price.
CONS: The wire hiding takes a bit of work to actually conceal the cables. Brobably not woth the effort if you have more than 2 cables to hide. Instructions are terrible, but it's not that involved. Make sure the bracket is securely fastened.
Instructions on how to assemble are pretty much worthless, but for the most part it is pretty self explanatory.
To mount against the wall, I used drywall plastic anchors (home depot) and they fit the bill. To attach the wire-tucking plastic guards, run the wires first, then slip the plastic guards up after.
I've attached a photo, hopefully this is the most useful part of my review.
I am also using the monoprice TV mount (PID 3900) and the monoprice speaker mounts (PID 3013).
I am really enjoying the extra floor space now that the TV is on the wall. Thanks monoprice!
PROS: It was easy to install and mount on wall.
CONS: Wish it would have come with three shelves instead of only two.
PROS: Great price, service and delivery
On the bright side, MonoPrice Customer Service was very easy to deal with. I sent links to pictures via the web-based support, and by the time I woke up the next day, I had received e-mail confirmation of a new shelf being shipped out. (The replacement shelf arrived with the box bulging from where the shelf boundaries are slightly too big for the box, I was scared while opening the box, but luckily it arrived intact).
Because of the shattered shelf, I got to study the instructions the rest of the first night. Instructions should be easier to understand, but I guess it provided me something to pass the time with.
I began installation after I received confirmation of the replacement shelf being sent out. During installation, I had to go to my local hardware store to buy more screws. One screw stripped, and one screw even had the head break off. But I got it installed after shifting one hole up, drilling again (because of the broken screw), and with new screws.
I am very happy with the product's price and looks. With everything mounted above the TV, the bedroom is much more spacious now. It's a great product once you get past the initial hurdles, for which I reduced 1 rating point.
PROS: Price, Sleek, MonoPrice Customer Service
CONS: Packaging, Screws, Instructions
PROS: easy to install, stable, and great cable manag!
The contents are divided so that each shelf has contents on the left and right side of the package. The contents are packaged with low-grade Styrofoam on top and bottom. Overall, it is good packaging that made the short trip from Monoprice to my home in good condition without any damage. By the way, the delivery service is great.
The instructions are on one sheet of paper. They are marginal at best and may require you to repeat a couple of steps if you are not watching carefully.
During installation, I got the back piece of the shelf inserted backwards. I had to remove and reinsert the two screws. Not a big deal.
The shelves are glass with the bottoms painted black. The top is glossy looking through to the painted bottom. The aluminum mounting disc is sharp as another reviewer mentioned and may cut your fingers as you twist on during installation. Wear gloves or be extra careful when twisting them on.
The wall mounting screws that come with the unit are cheap. They are easy to strip if mounting against a wooden stud. Replace them immediately with good quality screws. you may have or buy some good quality screws needed for your installation. The back mount had six screws to mount firmly against a stud or through the use of included anchors.
There is effort required to hide the wires through the bracket. I only had to slide some speaker wire and it was a little difficult. Depending on the visibility of the rear bracket, you may want to not use that feature or spend some extra time required to properly feed the wire.
There is a V-shaped bottom support that is supporting the two shelves. There are rectangular cutouts in the V-shaped holders.
I mounted my unit in the garage for my exercising area. It is next to an LCD screen that is at eye level and it looks great. It looks like a metal bracket because the only portion that is visible are the bottom of the shelves. The shelves are glass so it is does require some care to not damage.
I recommend this unit at this price.
