Enhanced Bass Hi-Fi Earphones with Built-in Microphone and In-line Controls Compatible with Android™ Devices
Get great sound and full compatibility with your Android™ device using this pair of Enhanced Bass Hi-Fi Earphones with Built-in Microphone and In-line Controls from Monoprice!
These earphones feature 6.5mm magnets and an impedance of 16 ohms. They boast a 20Hz ~ 20kHz frequency response at 3mW, a 108dB sensitivity, and less than 5% THD at 1kHz.
The in-line control unit is where the microphone is located, along with the controls, which allow you to increase or decrease the volume, pause and resume playback, skip tracks forward, and to answer, terminate, or ignore incoming calls. They come with small, medium (installed), and large earbuds, so they will fit almost any sized ear.
Note that the in-line control is designed for Android devices using the CTIA standard, which places the ground on the second ring of the TRRS plug instead of the sleeve. This is the current standard used by almost all Android smartphones.
Note that when used with Apple® iOS® devices, only the volume controls will function on the in-line controller. If you have an iOS device, you should order the Enhanced Bass Hi-Fi Earphones with Built-in Microphone and In-line Controls for iPhone®, iPod®, and iPad® V1.2 (PID 9980) instead.

PROS: Price. Looks. Metal earpiece feels surprisingly solid for the price.
CONS: Flimsy, thin cable that feels like it'd snap if I snagged it. Lack of any kind of depth until the volume is turned up considerably.
PROS: Very good sound quality. Good fit in ears.
CONS: None yet!
Buy'em ..you wont be sorry.
PROS: Inexpensive. Has a nice weight to them. Good quality Sound. Microphone seems to work alright, along with toggle controls.
CONS: Uses round wire instead of flat, whcih makes them tangle easier. The wire casing is a slittle stiff, thus keeping the memory of its folded shape, making it look a little janky. It would be nice if the material would relax a bit, it would have a cleaner presentation when worn.
My disappointment with this model can be traced almost entirely to a single design flaw: The point on the cord immediately before the 3.5 mm plug is covered by a sheath of smooth, shiny metal about 1.5 cm long (not pictured on the product page). It looks pretty slick, and it literally is, which makes the process of unplugging the set from a device using bare fingertips an exercise in grasping several times for purchase that doesn't come easily at all. At first this is just annoying, but it becomes more critical when you discover that the adhesive holding the metal in place is often less strong than the force required to overcome the resistance of the jack. Result: the metal sheath comes loose and slips up the cord, exposing the connection just above the plug.
Now, the metal bit slips rather easily back into place, and I've managed to deform it through squeezing so that it more or less stays there. But I've also learned that I need to grasp the rubber behind the metal section, which allows me to remove the plug much more easily, but which I'm certain also places much more stress on the connection. It's already begun to exhibit the typical signs of failure (faintness in one ear, inadvertent disconnection when tapped lightly, false "play button" presses registering when plugged into laptop) much sooner than I've gotten used to expecting. I'm also concern that this flaw has compromised the static shielding of the unit, as evidenced by the sometimes-painful shocks that occasionally get delivered into my ear!
Fix this design flaw and sort out the play/pick-up/volume button capability and this would be a great product for the price. Until then, I'd advise potential buyers to browse the other quality options on this site.

- Poor plug design, resulting in:

PROS: Very solid build quality. I'd expect to pay $25+ for these at an electronics chain. Mic controls allow pause and skip forward on most android devices
