Noise Cancelling Headphone w/ Active Noise Reduction Technology

The world is so full of noise that it can be difficult to find the quiet you need to concentrate or to enjoy your favorite music. When you need to block out the sounds of the world, you need a pair of Noise Cancelling Headphones from Monoprice!

These headphones have been designed to provide superior noise cancellation, leaving a quiet, empty soundstage in which to experience your favorite music. Additionally, they can be used without any musical or audio content when what you need most of all is peace and quiet. The Active Noise Reduction circuity will eliminate almost all external sounds, giving you the quiet you need to think and concentrate.

The ANR circuitry is powered by a single AAA battery (included), which can power it for up to 50 hours. The headphones can also be used in passive mode, without the ANR circuitry enabled, which gives you excellent musical reproduction, while allowing you to hear some of the environment around you.

The headphones come with 55" audio cable with an inline microphone and control module, a 58" standard audio cable with a 90-degree connector on one end, a headphone/microphone splitter for use with PCs, a 3.5mm to 1/4" plug adapter, and and airline plug adapter. They are packaged in a luxury "hardshell" zippered nylon storage case, which includes a nylon mesh internal pocket for the included cables and accessories. The carry case includes a D-ring, which can be used to attach a strap (not included) or to secure it to a backpack.

    Excellent headphones

These headphones are great. At around $85 each, you can't beat the quality for the price. I compared them to a friend's noise-cancelling Beats headphones that are around double the cost, and the Monoprice brand was just as high quality a product.

    Pros: Price

    Cons: Uncomfortable headband

I was willing to give up some quality in exchange for being a third the price of the Bose product. When they arrived, I compared them to my wife's older Bose QC15. Noise cancelling wasn't quite as good, but acceptable. Same went for the sound reproduction. But they were less than any of the Bose products available and I'm not terribly picky. The deal killer was how they felt on my head. It was as if they were hanging from a metal rod sitting atop my head. If they were just uncomfortable after a couple of minutes, what would they feel like after a 10-12 hour flight?

I'm done with MP. they were an excellent deal, but I don't need any more HDMI cables. The Apple power cords have been of inconsistent quality. This purchase cost me about $25 in shipping to and from to find out the headphones don't work for me. It also reminds me of this quote from Franklin: “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”

    Outstanding headphones

Pros: Great price, work exceptionally well, nice storage case, quick shipping.

Cons: Ears were a little uncomfortable after wearing them for 8 or 9 hours straight. Nothing serious but you could tell you had worn them for a long period of time.

Purchased the headphones before a two week plus trip to Europe. Used them on the flight over and back. Cannot say enough about how well they performed.

    Just what we wanted

Pros: Aside from the great functionality, a nice set of adapters and a carrying case is included

Cons: They don’t fold up so the phones in the case take up quite a bit of space in her purse or suitcase.

My wife wanted a pair of over-ear phones so she could listen to meditation tapes while on the commuter train. I had my doubts about whether she would get enough isolation to really be useful, so I sprung for a bit more and got these noise-cancelling phones. They work very well, and she is quite pleased with them. (So this is not a music/hi-fi review of the stereophile quality, only of the phones’ practicality for this purpose. Top marks for that, though!

Worked well for long plane ride

We purchased a couple of these right before a long plane ride which had a 14-hour leg. These worked well to reduce the engine noise. You won't get complete silence. The important part is that the noise was reduced significantly and that this allows you to listen to music and movies without setting the volume to full blast.

The single AAA battery held up for the entire trip. We are bringing extra batteries for the return trip, but AAA batteiries are cheap and easy to find. This is better than rechargeable units for travelling. (If you are concerned about waste, get rechargeable AAA batteries.)
