Noise Cancelling Headphone with Active Noise Reduction Technology

The world is so full of noise that it can be difficult to find the quiet you need to concentrate or to enjoy your favorite music. When you need to block out the sounds of the world, you need a pair of Noise Cancelling Headphones from Monoprice!

These headphones have been designed to provide superior noise cancellation, leaving a quiet, empty soundstage in which to experience your favorite music. Additionally, they can be used without any musical or audio content when what you need most of all is peace and quiet. The Active Noise Reduction circuity will eliminate almost all external sounds, giving you the quiet you need to think and concentrate.

The ANR circuitry is powered by a single AAA battery (included), which can power it for up to 50 hours. The headphones can also be used in passive mode, without the ANR circuitry enabled, which gives you excellent musical reproduction, while allowing you to hear some of the environment around you.

The headphones come with 55" audio cable with an inline microphone and control module, a 58" standard audio cable with a 90-degree connector on one end, a headphone/microphone splitter for use with PCs, a 3.5mm to 1/4" plug adapter, and and airline plug adapter. They are packaged in a luxury "hardshell" zippered nylon storage case, which includes a nylon mesh internal pocket for the included cables and accessories. The carry case includes a D-ring, which can be used to attach a strap (not included) or to secure it to a backpack.

    Great product for the price
Very nice headphones with comfortable fit. At almost a third of the price of QC15 from Bose

PROS: Very comfortable to wear, work well to cancel out noise, compare well against the Bose QC15

    Great performance - Excellent value
I bought these mainly for their noise cancelling capability on an airplane. Haven't taken the first flight yet, but my in tests at home (fan, dishwasher and auto engine noise) they make a very noticeable reduction. With the power off, the seal around your ear gives a significant reduction. Turning the power on provides a very noticeable additional reduction, particularly at lower frequencies. (Active cancellation is supposed to normally be most effective at lower frequencies while the isolation does best at high frequencies.)

My only previous experience with noise cancelling headphones was another brand of in-ear ones which were worthlessabsolutely no noticeable active noise cancelling and the sound quality was horrible. I returned them and bought these Monoprice ones.

The sound quality seems fine to me. Sensitivity is fine with my ancient Creative Nano MP3 player. Note: I listen to classical music, but I'm not a super picky audiophile. I can hear the infamous noise cancelling "hiss" only under very quiet conditions. Comfort wise, I think they will be fine, but I haven't used them long enough to be sure. I haven't tried the mobile phone connection mode.

I think these will do the job just great and I doubt I could have gotten anything better for anywhere near this price.

    PROS: Excellent noise cancelling
    Good sound quality
    Good sensitivity
    Excellent value

CONS: The jack for the cord is in a small recess so many normal 3.5mm plugs can't be used. If your cord breaks, you'll have to find the right one to replace it.

    Great alternative to Bose
I've read that Bose is the gold-standard for noise cancellation (NC). I've never tried them, so I can't say. I had a long transatlantic flight recently, and I purchased these for this trip. Putting them on creates a "listening to a sea-shell" sensation. That is then ablated by turning on the NC. What I was left with is a slight sense of tinnitus. On the plane I was able to watch movies at a much lower volume due to the absence of ambient noise. Surprisingly, I was able to sleep with these on! They are much more comfortable than cramming something into my ear canal to try and noise isolate, which quickly becomes uncomfortable (for me). I don't know that I will use them on a day-to-day basis. I prefer ear buds for that. But I'm glad I have these for the occasional flights I go on!.

PROS: great product for this price point. comfortable, good sound quality, quality construction

    Fantastic for the price
Overall if you factor price in, these things are a 10/10. For ~$100 you can't beat this noise cancelling headphone. You lose some build quality, some wonky features and sound quality... but saving $200 does the trick. We bought them for everyone in our office to reduce noise clutter for those who want to get 'in the zone' and it worked perfectly. The noise cancelling does the trick beautifully and really does reduce even a high noise environment to almost nothing.

    Impressed with the value
I bought these expecting to compromise from the units that cost 2-3x as much. I was pleasantly surprised. The included case is very nice and the number of adapters that they include have covered everywhere that I have wanted to use them at home or while traveling.

The headphones are solid and comfortable to wear- even for long periods of time. I've had them on for the majority of a 10 hour flight with no real discomfort.

About the noise cancellation, I dont have a whole lot of experience with the competition, but I can say that I was pleased with the amount of background noise that was eliminated. Airplane engine noise or household fans are almost completely gone when it is turned on. And I like that you can use the headphones without any audio input just for noise cancellation.

    PROS: - Lots of accessories
    - Comfortable to wear
    - Noise cancellation works well enough for me
    - Can use noise cancellation without any audio input
    - Sound quality is good

    CONS: No major issues.

I sent in a note describing my problem after the left side stopped working but received no response.

CONS: Worked great for about a year. Now the left side doesn't work.

    Nice headphones, worth the price
These headphones are of the quality and price that other reviewers have previously reported on other sites. They are a great set for the price, but the quality is not on par with some of the pricier ones, as expected.

I replaced my old Sony noise-canceling headphones with these ones. Compared to the Sony, these headphones do not produce as good quality sound, and they do not filter out as much external noise. That said, they perform well, but just not as well as the pricier set did.

I like the design of the on/off button. It is hard to turn them on accidentally, which was a problem I had with the Sony headset. I would often accidentally push the button on the Sony headset when I was putting them in a bag. With the Monoprice headset, you have to apply a little bit of force to the on/off button.

The headphones are worth the price you pay for them. I would buy them again.

PROS: Appropriate price. Nice sound. Can't accidentally turn them on.

CONS: The ear pieces are small.
