The ANR switch no longer does anything - LED won't turn on, and sound actually gets shut completely off when switch is in the "on" position (as in I'm listening to a song, flip the switch, and the sound stops even though the song keeps playing). I've replaced the battery with 4 different brand new batteries, unplugged and re-plugged in all cords. Moved the switch on/off while in every conceivable combination of batteries, plugs in/out, etc. nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
BEST ANSWER: Hello, sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with our product. It sounds like there is an internal problem with the ANC. If the item is within warranty we can have it replaced. Please contact us with your order number via the methods available here:

Does monoprice sell a replacement audio cable for these?
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. We would not carry the same exact audio cable from this unit but we do have various 3.5mm audio cables. I would recommend our Flat 3.5mm cables such as PID 11506. I hope this helps.

Problems with the ear pads falling off seems very common. has this been addressed?
BEST ANSWER: I purchased a pair in September 2017 and used it for the flights out and back on a trip from Denver to Europe. They worked wonderfully for reducing airplane noise and I have had no problem with the ear pads falling off. Will be heading to Asia and back next month so they will get at least double the workout. I don't anticipate any problems.

How would these do for reducing firework noise?
BEST ANSWER: Noise canceling (any headphone), works best for continuous noise: airplane, train, crowds. Noise canceling is not good for sudden noises like fireworks. for those types of noises if you want protection only you should get hearing protective devices like soft plugs or earmuffs. If you want something that plays music you should get earbuds and make sure they fit correctly in the canal.

Does the ANC only work on lower frequencies or does it block all sound?
BEST ANSWER: Like all ANC systems, the active noise cancellation works best on low frequencies (like airplane noise), less well at mid-range, and hardly at all on high frequencies. These headphones do provide some overall sound reduction because they are an around-the-ear type that seals well against your head.

I bought these headphones about a year ago and like them and use them almost daily. But why don't they increase the padding in the headband?
My head gets sore.
My head gets sore.
BEST ANSWER: I've noticed some of the feedback is the same as yours. Personally, I haven't had a big problem with the padding. And I even wear glasses too. Not sure if you can somehow adjust the padding, or adjust the tension of the headphones on your ears to lighten up that pressure.

They're OK. I think a few tweaks could make them much better.
PROS: Active noise canceling is actually not bad. As good as some other, much more expensive brands? I'm not sure.
Replaceable battery (AAA). Just keep an extra battery in the bag and you won't have to worry about running out of power at an inconvenient time.
Good battery life.
You can leave the active noise canceling off and still listen to audio.
Removable cable.
On-cable mic (works with mobile devices and computers).
On-cable controls (works with mobile devices and some computers).
Comes with a storage case.
CONS: The on-cable controls are completely flat, making it more difficult than it should be to quickly press the button you're looking for. On more than one occasion on a recent flight, I found myself hurriedly pressing on the side of the controls (which does nothing) rather than the face of the unit where the buttons actually are.
The opening of the pads on the headphones is just a little too small. My ears aren't exactly big (proportionally), but they are squished in there a bit.
Something about the padding is keeping the noise isolation from being as good as it could be. I'm not sure if there isn't enough padding, or the padding that's there is too firm, preventing it from molding around things like glasses (other brands are able to do this well). I often have to adjust them slightly to get a good seal so noise doesn't seep in around the pads.
The padding is pretty firm and the headphone squeeze a bit tightly. This combination means that they can get uncomfortable after prolonged use.
The cord with the controls and mic is too short. When I sit at my desk with it plugged into my laptop (which the play/pause control works with, by the way), I have to be careful to not lean back or anything. Another foot would be really nice.
The cord, like the cord on Monoprice's iDevice-like earbuds, has an unpleasant texture.
The on-off switch is surprisingly hard to move. This has become easier over time.
The zipper on the storage case is backwards. For whatever reason, I'm used to grabbing the zipper from the top, moving it around clockwise and having the case being opened after the zipper has been moved around past the bottom of the case. I frequently find myself going for the zipper in the wrong location. I did a little usability testing and had a few other people either open or close the case (without letting them know why), then confirmed after that the zipper didn't go the direction they expected.

Nice, but too short-lived and disposable for the price.
I liked these a lot while they lasted. They provide excellent cancelation for low-frequency noise, so they're especially good on the bus. While I wouldn't mistake them for my Sennheisers, the sound quality is pretty good with the cancelation on or off, certainly better than typical bargain headphones. I found them more comfortable than usual to wear with glasses.
Unfortunately, the right earpiece on mine stopped working a little over a year after I got them...just a bit outside the warranty period. At this price, I expect things to hold up a little better. I always kept them in their case and treated them gently.
PROS: Comfortable
Good noise-canceling, and reasonably good sound quality
Nice carrying case, comes with cables and adapters
CONS: Short-lived

Need Better Ear Pads
The head phone is great for the price. Back ground noise in the office is now non existent.
The problem is that the ear pads fall apart. Is there any replacement ear pads available? Or any ear pads from other headphones that would work?
PROS: Great job for the price
CONS: Ear pads fall appart

Active Noise Cancelling Headphones
I just received my second pair of these headphones and have them connected to my android tablet listening to music as I do other things on my tablet. I give these headphones a 5 rating because they are about 90% as good as headphones that cist 3 to 5 times as much. I use the headphones for about 25 hours a week and my previous pair is still plugging away after 3+ years with only a few problems. The noise cancelling after 3+ years is slightly degraded and I have sewn separations in the earpads back together several times. But at around $100 they mute n oise well, have good sound quality, and work on a degraded basis with a dead battery. The most touted headphones are much more expensive and don't work with a dead battery. Also, almost all of the much more exoensive brands don't even come close to a 50 hour battery life. Considering price, noise cancelling ability, sound, and battery life, I am very happy to purchase a new pair after more than 3 years.
PROS: Price, Sound, Noise Cancelling.
CONS: Earpad cover separation after several years.

Replacement Ear Pads
My ear pads gave out a year after owning these, it seems to be a common problem. You can get replacements on Amazon, you need to search forAudio Technica ATH ANC7 ear pads. these will fit but are missing the white foam that is inside the original earpads, not sure how it affects sound or noise canceling, Prices range from 10-20 dollars. If you want a perfect exact replacement, you can order from Audio Technica using these instructions (Please send $30.00 to paypal@atus.com and be sure to include both the part number/quantity (139900770 x 1) and your full USA address in the comment section of the paypal transaction.). I ordered these from Audio Technica and they are the exact ear pads that come with the Monoprice 10010's.
PROS: Love them, great sound, very good noise canceling
CONS: ear pads wear out after owning for a year.

Great deal, work well
If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Bose, these are a great deal. Less than 1/2 the cost, they deliver at least 90% of the performance IMHO.
The battery life is higher than the bose, and they work when turned on and off (something the older Bose didn't do).
My head is a bit tall and narrow, so these didn't fit as well as the Bose. There is a bit of pressure at the top of my head. But it's not bad at all.
These are also more durable than the Bose in my anecdotal tests (giving them to an 8 year old boy, who managed to snap the Bose headphones in 4.2 minutes). So far the Monoprice headphones are still in one piece.
PROS: $184 less than the current Bose equivalent.
Good noise cancellation
Works even with it turned off
Premium feel
Good accessories
Nice travel case
CONS: Not as comfortable for my head
Materials not as premium as Bose
Noise cancellation not as power as Bose

Great sounding headphones, especially for the price
Overall i really like this set of headphones. I am pretty picky about headphones and like a certain kind of balance to the sound they produce and this set works out pretty well. It is a little bass heavy (which i enjoy but i know not all people like) but the sound it gives in the low range is not muddy. The midrange and highs still come in clear even through the pronounced bass. For the price it is a solid set of normal headphones.
Now lets get into the Active noise reduction. It does not cancel out the noise as well as the bose headphones. I kind of expected that seeing as how they are a third of the price, however in the tests that i ran with ambient noise, they did a pretty good job of taking the audible noise level down significantly. (when i did this, i was not playing music through the headphones) The hum of my computer fans was almost completely eliminated.
Overall i really like these headphones and especially for the price, you can't beat it for a decent sounding active noise cancellation headset. It even comes with the headphone/mic adapter to plug into the computer, that is a great little touch. Personally i use them through a portable headphone amp really crank the volume up, they do have some sound leakage, but nothing too seriously horrible. Basically if you are looking for a budget set of good headphones with noise cancellation, you can stop your search and just buy these already.
PROS: Comfortable
Come with a nice carrying case
Sound good
CONS: could reduce more noise

Good Deal
They do a good job of blocking noise and are comfortable to wear over long periods of time. I usually use a pair of Klipsch Image S4's which I absolutely love but unfortunately they are a bit of a pain to constantly take on and off at work when I need to answer a phone or step away from my desk. The monoprice headphones are definitely a bargain and I am very happy with my purchase.
PROS: Cancels noise very well while there is music playing.
Sound quality is above average.
Headphones are comfortable to wear for longer periods of time.

Nice headphones, worth the price
These headphones are of the quality and price that other reviewers have previously reported on other sites. They are a great set for the price, but the quality is not on par with some of the pricier ones, as expected.
I replaced my old Sony noise-canceling headphones with these ones. Compared to the Sony, these headphones do not produce as good quality sound, and they do not filter out as much external noise. That said, they perform well, but just not as well as the pricier set did.
I like the design of the on/off button. It is hard to turn them on accidentally, which was a problem I had with the Sony headset. I would often accidentally push the button on the Sony headset when I was putting them in a bag. With the Monoprice headset, you have to apply a little bit of force to the on/off button.
The headphones are worth the price you pay for them. I would buy them again.
PROS: Appropriate price. Nice sound. Can't accidentally turn them on.
CONS: The ear pieces are small.
