    Bluetooth® Portable Speaker

Fill the room with wireless sound with this Bluetooth® Portable Speaker from Monoprice!

This stereo speaker connects to your phone, tablet, or mp3 player using the Bluetooth wireless standard. It is powered by a 6 watt (RMS) amplifier with a peak output level of 12 watts. It complies with the Bluetooth 2.0+EDR standard and supports the A2DP and AVRCP profiles. It has a clear line-of-sight range of up to 49 feet (15 meters).

The speaker is powered by a BL-5C rechargeable battery, which provides up to 8 hours of playback. The battery is accessible via a small door on the bottom of the speaker unit, so you can get extra batteries to keep the music going for even longer. It is charged with a USB mini-B cable (included).

In addition to Bluetooth, the speaker also supports a physical line-in connection via a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and cable (also included). It includes Bass Boost circuitry, which improves the low-end of the musical spectrum.

    The speaker measures 8.9" x 2.9" x 1.5" and weighs 12.3 ounces.

    Good for the Price
Unit seems reasonably well built. On off switch works nicely and is not mushy.
It does come with a built in Lithium 1100 mAh 4.1Wh battery, that can be charged via usb.
The battery is accessible via a small battery cover, ostensibly so that you can replace the batter when it wears out.

One oddity is that the plus and minus buttons on the device that the instructions say control volume, don't actually control volume. Instead they are song forward and back. While odd this is ok, as volume control from the iPhone (4) works.

The most disappointing thing is a constant low level static hiss when playing bluetooth content. The hiss does not manifest when you use an aux cable, so it has something to do with the bluetooth audio path. While annoying, this bluetooth speaker is half the price of the one my wife got so its a reasonable tradeoff. Playing music at higher volume, you can't notice the hiss, but playing a news podcast or other spoken word content, you can hear the hiss.

    PROS: Cost Effective

    CONS: Some bass distortion
Constant low level static hiss, when playing via bluetooth
"Volume" buttons are song forward and back, not volume control.

Best speaker the monoprice has to offer. I waited 4 months for the Monoprice Brick to come back so in the mean time I bought this one and I was happy. The brick came back in circulation today and I went to pick one up because the reviews had it pegged as a great item and well....... I'm disappointed in the brick, but i am glad I snagged this one! Definitely a great buy.

PROS: Sound is very powerful with minimal distortion at the peak. Great to use with a phone. Not tiny, but light and compact enough for the price

CONS: No built in microphone, but I really don't care about that.

    Nice Sound Poor Build Quality
I've had two of these and they both failed for the same reasonthe usb port breaking. One pull of the cord in a slightly awkward way will cause the port to break.

    Really good sound
Purchased a few months ago to have a portable music player. I had previously owned a small non-Bluetooth Logitech iPod dock. The sound quality is just as good on this speaker set. I use it 4 or 5 times a week for a half-hour to an hour at a time normally with my iPod touch and my smartphone. I only have to charge the battery once every few weeks. The small rubber grip pads on the bottom came off within the first few weeks but I just glued them back on my own. The bass on the speaker is decent, so much so that it tends to shake the unit across the surface it rests on if you have the volume cranked. Be careful if near an edge and could fall. There's a bit of Bluetooth buzz if the sound is quiet but to be expected over Bluetooth. Sound disappears if you plug into the Aux input. I would recommend buying an extra long Mini-B USB cable and USB wall adapter if you plan on leaving this unit plugged in and not charging by computer. The included cable is only a few feet long.

the play/pause and +/- buttons don't seem to do anything volume or skip track wise on my iPod or Android phone when connected by Bluetooth. Not a big deal since this can be controlled on the device anyway.

Overall, I would buy another if this one broke and I would recommend it to someone over the smaller folding speakers or $60+ portable Bluetooth ones at a big box store. For the price you're not going to get Bose quality sound but you'll get a lot better than laptop/phone speakers. Definitely loud enough to power a room.

PROS: Powerful sound, great battery life, low price compared to alternatives.

CONS: Rubber cushion pads not well glued, control buttons don't really do anything, short charge cable

    First Impression: WOW!
I received this speaker today and am amazed at the sound quality for its size and price. I paired my iPhone to it and was impressed the second Steely Dan played. Good midrange and highs. Not much in the low end, but it has enough to make listening a pleasure.

PROS: Good sound. Easy to charge and pair Bluetooth. Inexpensive. Small.

CONS: As others have mentioned, the rubber feet came off in my hands. I stuck them on again, but two of them soon loosened up. I think that there may be a coating on the plastic case that is hard to stick to: I'll probably just stick on some furniture pads I have. Not a deal killer at all.

Good Buy to Advance Your Wireless Front
I actually like this device. Its not too big or too small, solid feeling and integrates very well with my environment. I use this mostly for podcast and sound quality is decent. This purchase was a pleasant surprise.

PROS: No wires, rechargeable and easy to pair with my Bluetooth device.

CONS: May not be good for classical music and some minor feedback or static in silent parts of music tracks. But the feedback I suspect is native to Bluetooth.

    Unexpectedly good
Excellent value. Good music quality. Consistant pairing. Even has stereo mini jack for old non bluetooth devices!

PROS: Since Monoprice is good on returns, I figured I'd try it, though prior experience with similar devices I have returned from elsewhere made me skeptical the sound quality would be adequate. I wanted something portable for playing my iPhone and iPads in the kitchen. I have a recording studio so my audio standards are high for music - I figured good voice quality and tolerable music quality would be the best to hope for.
Ion reality, the music quality is quite good for something this size! Very happy. Am getting 2nd one for other rooms, even tho it is easy to carry iPhone and speaker in one small hand.

CONS: None evident after a few weeks of daily use...

Good for podcasts, bad for music
I bought this for listening to podcasts in my apartment and in my car, and for $30 it's good enough for the job. Don't buy this if you're looking to play a lot of music you'll be much happier with one of several speakers closer to the $100 range ( has some good recommendations). This speaker great for how I use it, though, even if it's not ideal for everyone.

PROS: -Great as a dirt-cheap podcast speaker

CONS: -Muddy sound (esp. on Bluetooth) means it's poor for music

    Good Portable Speaker
Great product for the price. I need to get a rubber pad for the bottom so it doesn't move when in use.

PROS: Battery Life has been great so far (1 month of intermittent use)

    CONS: Feedback when using bluetooth

Shipped missing a rubber grip - falls off table while playing music due to vibration
