Bluetooth® Portable Speaker
Fill the room with wireless sound with this Bluetooth® Portable Speaker from Monoprice!
This stereo speaker connects to your phone, tablet, or mp3 player using the Bluetooth wireless standard. It is powered by a 6 watt (RMS) amplifier with a peak output level of 12 watts. It complies with the Bluetooth 2.0+EDR standard and supports the A2DP and AVRCP profiles. It has a clear line-of-sight range of up to 49 feet (15 meters).
The speaker is powered by a BL-5C rechargeable battery, which provides up to 8 hours of playback. The battery is accessible via a small door on the bottom of the speaker unit, so you can get extra batteries to keep the music going for even longer. It is charged with a USB mini-B cable (included).
In addition to Bluetooth, the speaker also supports a physical line-in connection via a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and cable (also included). It includes Bass Boost circuitry, which improves the low-end of the musical spectrum.
The speaker measures 8.9" x 2.9" x 1.5" and weighs 12.3 ounces.

It does come with a built in Lithium 1100 mAh 4.1Wh battery, that can be charged via usb.
The battery is accessible via a small battery cover, ostensibly so that you can replace the batter when it wears out.
One oddity is that the plus and minus buttons on the device that the instructions say control volume, don't actually control volume. Instead they are song forward and back. While odd this is ok, as volume control from the iPhone (4) works.
The most disappointing thing is a constant low level static hiss when playing bluetooth content. The hiss does not manifest when you use an aux cable, so it has something to do with the bluetooth audio path. While annoying, this bluetooth speaker is half the price of the one my wife got so its a reasonable tradeoff. Playing music at higher volume, you can't notice the hiss, but playing a news podcast or other spoken word content, you can hear the hiss.
PROS: Cost Effective
CONS: Some bass distortion
Constant low level static hiss, when playing via bluetooth
"Volume" buttons are song forward and back, not volume control.
PROS: Sound is very powerful with minimal distortion at the peak. Great to use with a phone. Not tiny, but light and compact enough for the price
CONS: No built in microphone, but I really don't care about that.
the play/pause and +/- buttons don't seem to do anything volume or skip track wise on my iPod or Android phone when connected by Bluetooth. Not a big deal since this can be controlled on the device anyway.
Overall, I would buy another if this one broke and I would recommend it to someone over the smaller folding speakers or $60+ portable Bluetooth ones at a big box store. For the price you're not going to get Bose quality sound but you'll get a lot better than laptop/phone speakers. Definitely loud enough to power a room.
PROS: Powerful sound, great battery life, low price compared to alternatives.
CONS: Rubber cushion pads not well glued, control buttons don't really do anything, short charge cable
PROS: Good sound. Easy to charge and pair Bluetooth. Inexpensive. Small.
CONS: As others have mentioned, the rubber feet came off in my hands. I stuck them on again, but two of them soon loosened up. I think that there may be a coating on the plastic case that is hard to stick to: I'll probably just stick on some furniture pads I have. Not a deal killer at all.
PROS: No wires, rechargeable and easy to pair with my Bluetooth device.
CONS: May not be good for classical music and some minor feedback or static in silent parts of music tracks. But the feedback I suspect is native to Bluetooth.
PROS: Since Monoprice is good on returns, I figured I'd try it, though prior experience with similar devices I have returned from elsewhere made me skeptical the sound quality would be adequate. I wanted something portable for playing my iPhone and iPads in the kitchen. I have a recording studio so my audio standards are high for music - I figured good voice quality and tolerable music quality would be the best to hope for.
Ion reality, the music quality is quite good for something this size! Very happy. Am getting 2nd one for other rooms, even tho it is easy to carry iPhone and speaker in one small hand.
CONS: None evident after a few weeks of daily use...
PROS: -Great as a dirt-cheap podcast speaker
CONS: -Muddy sound (esp. on Bluetooth) means it's poor for music
PROS: Battery Life has been great so far (1 month of intermittent use)
CONS: Feedback when using bluetooth
Shipped missing a rubber grip - falls off table while playing music due to vibration
PROS: It worked as specified. Bass boost didn't help that much in giving good sounding bass.
CONS: I saw similar item on Ebay for 1/3 the price. Everything is the same except playing time.
That is true in my case and my speaker does tilt to the right side.
Solution: Unscrew the battery compartment (put the screw back in the hole for future consideration) and use the battery compartment door propped open to support the speaker. The (BL-5C) battery will still be held firmly in place.
Read the little white paper manual.
Bluetooth ID: MPBT1S
Bluetooth Pairing Code: 0000 (four zeros)
PROS: A good 'personal' speaker for the price.
Rechargeable and replaceable battery.
CONS: I have found that with an iPad2, connected via the line-in cable, that the volume 'seems' to be set, and pressing the up+ or down- buttons do not change the volume. (the volume buttons do work when connected via Bluetooth)
The blue light on the bottom left of the unit annoyed me so I put a piece of black tape over it.
