Enhanced Bass Hi-Fi Noise Isolating Earphones - Black

With its stylish design, these Monoprice earphones will prompt complete strangers to ask you where you got them, but you won't hear a word they say as you rock on down the highway!

Made with a noise-isolating design and producing clear and solid sound, these earphone are a great way to enjoy your favorite music from your iPod or other portable music device. They fit comfortably into the ears and produce solid bass notes and clear midrange tones, both normally a weakness in earphones, thanks to the large 14.2 mm driver unit. The package includes three different sized pairs of silicone earbuds, for a better, more comfortable fit.

The 48" cord terminates in a gold-plated 3.5 mm stereo plug, which connects to most popular music devices and phones, with better connectivity and corrosion resistance than the more common nickel and tin-plated connectors.

The end result is a pair of earphones that are made for the rigors of daily use from the music fan on the go! Amazing sound clarity, hard-rocking bass, and durability. Who could ask for more?

What? You want Aerosmith to play at your birthday party? OK, you CAN ask for more!

Note: For best results these earphones should be broken in by playing pink noise through them for about 24 hours. The difference in sound quality before and after the pink noise break-in period can be quite dramatic.

Great buy, but cable tangles A LOT

Pros: Great sound
Great price
Good noise isolation

Cons: Cable tangles a lot

I ordered these monoprice headphones and I have almost no complaints except that the cable tangles so much and it is hard to untangle them. I usually listen to them in school in between classes but by the time I'm done untangling them, I'm already in my next class.

Great in-ear earbuds

Pros: Great for the price! Great in general. Beats the "branded" $20 earbuds. Fits well in the earbut you must know how to put them inperfect for plane, noise isolating. The black one has a nice cord too. I keep buying whichever color goes on sale.

Cons: There are of course better headphones and better in-ears like those from Westone. But for the price, this is really hard to beat. Perhaps not comfortable for the average bear-they really do fit like in-ears not earbuds.

Overall great. I'll keep buying more!

Movement of the cords drowns out audio

Cons: When the cords rub against anything (e.g., a shirt), the vibrations of that rubbing can be heard very clearly in the ear piece, even when audio is playing.

I thought the cords would "soften" over time and reduce the vibration sounds, but even after 14 months, the vibrations are still too loud. I don't understand how this isn't being mentioned in more reviews.

Thank you for your review and I am truly sorry for the inconvenience you've encountered. We do carry other headphones so if you are unsatisfied with the vibrations did you want to try a return to see if a different headphones will not exhibit this issue? Please let me know, and the order# as well. Thank you!

I bought five other Monoprice models just to be sure

Pros: Sound Quality, clarity, accurate sound stage

Cons: None at this price. If you can find better headphones at this price, let us know.

Along with the 9927, I bought 5 other Monoprice earbud headphones just to test them and be sure the hype was true. The 9927 are the best of all of them and are really different category in terms of sound quality than the rest. I would rank and group the 6 models as follows for sound quality.
9927 - Excellent, clearly better than the rest.
9396, 8319, 9398 - All good enough for music, but not as clear as the 9927.
10154, 8322 - not bad, not not as good as the above.

Go with the 9927. No brain-er. Clearly better than the rest and unbeatable at this price.

Decent sound with a lot of tangling

Pros: * Decent sound.
* Braided cord doesn't feel cool to the skin like plastic/rubber.
* 3 different ear pieces included (medium fits perfectly for me).

Cons: * One earpiece is dead after 2 years and 4 months.
* Tangles every time. Earpieces are natural grappling hooks.
* Bad kinks in cord that cannot be loosened that don't look appealing.
* Earpieces began to separate on their half seams about 4 months ago. Not a lot of glue inside. Still, there's enough tension to keep them together, for the most part, but one can separate them when removing them from one's ear.
* Wire began to fray near their 'marrying point' to the earpieces about a year ago. The wire is now completely exposed at this connection point.
* Housing is thicker than I'd like and the exterior aesthetic design grooves can irritate the ears.

After 852 days (2 years and 4 months), one ear piece no longer sends sound. If I recall correctly, about 6 months ago I noticed a significant and hard-to-the-touch bend where the cord enters the ear piece. This began to pull away from the ear piece and bend further. After a while, the wires became exposed. Currently, it looks like as if you took a 1 metre eel, bent it into a U shape, made a 30 cm slit on the skin at the exterior of the U, and began pulling the flesh/innards away from the skin. Survivalist imagery aside, it's clear one earpiece had enough and disconnected.

Months before the above con, one earpiece became easy to open down the half seam. What little glue that is inside is barely holding it together, but there is still enough friction to keep them closed, for the most part. The other earpiece is holding together better, but I'm able to pull it apart with a little force as well.

The cord is horrendously kinked with bumps and twists running along it. Not very aesthetically appealing. The braided fabric exterior seems to hold any twist of the internal materials and it's impossible to untwist these kinks. I'm on my second pair and will attempt to mitigate the twisting by keeping them in a relaxed state more often.

With said kinks, everything will tangle like you wouldn't believe. The earpieces are natural grappling hooks and will grab on to anything, including the cords. It can be frustrating to untangle them and if you're not careful, they will provide extra stress to the 'marrying point' of the cord and housing, which probably worsened the 'eel skinning' effect described above.

That said, it's inexpensive and provides decent sound. I'll be looking for other solutions once this second pair craps out in a similar way, I'm sure.
