can i power four of these by connecting them through one usb slot? want to put in a media center
    PERVINDER S on Mar 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It probably won't work... Case fans are usually connected to a molex connector which provides 12 volts of power... USB only provides 5 volts... I believe that there are fans that are specifically designed to be powered by USB, but they would be designed to run on 5V

I am using this fan to cool an Onkyo SR705 receiver (which gets VERY HOT) by placing it directly on top of the receiver's vent. I was very hesitant at first because I don't want the fan noise. This fan works great!! there was no noise whatsoever! Temperature-wise, my receiver feels like it is not even powered on.

    Excellent Fans
Great fans. I use two in my Windows Home Server box to cool a stack of six 3 1/2 inch hard drives. Theyre nearly silent and keep all the drives at about 30-35 degrees.
You must run them at 12V as they wont spin up reliably at 5V or 7V. No matter as theyre very quiet. ... I wonder if these are 24V fans sold as quiet (read low speed) 12V fans? The air flow is fairly low but certainly adequate.

They look nice too with the sturdy, clear (polycarbonate?) blades.

You can get decent Scythe brand fans for a lower price but the quality of these is higher.

    Works Perfect!
I installed these in the back of my entertainment center. I was having problems with my AVR receiver and PS3 over heating. I put four of these in (two on each side of the center divider, with the upper ones blowing out, the bottom ones blowing in) and haven't had any issues since. Great product, especially for the money!

    PROS: Silent, easy to install.

    Enermax Marathon 120mm fan
I purchased this fan to use externally to cool my Sony AV entertainment center amp. My components are closed inside a glass doorfront cabinet. I have it plugged into the amp power outlet so it turns on when the amp does. I never hear the fan at all and it moves adequate air to keep my amp several degrees cooler. It used to get so hot on top that i couldn't hold my hand pressed against it. No longer an issue with this fan that I used for this application. Excellent fan that I have been using for a couple of months. Neat feature that you can alos remove the fan blade assembly to easily clean it.

PROS: Extremely quite operation as advertised.

    CONS: Haven't experienced any.

Very Quiet, but not much flow
I buy a lot of these fans. They are reliable and very quiet. The only drawback is that they move very little air. For some applications they are insufficient. I use them to move air though disk arrays. For that purpose I am completely satisfied with this product.

When I have used one of these temporarily to cool a high end PC, the temperature goes up quite a bit due to the lower air flow. (High flow fan failure etc.)

I wish that monoprice had a high flow / quiet option. I would gladly pay a lot more for such a fan for a case fan.

If you have enough places to put these fans in your case, I think that might mitigate the issue of low flow per fan.

    Monoprice rules!

    Very Quiet

PROS: I bought this for a gaming computer as I wanted to keep the noise down. Why can't all fans be this quiet. As for air movement, it does a good job of keeping the box cool. I think the number of vents in the case is more important than the speed of the fans. I had faster fans in a prevous build that still got hot due to the lack of vents. My new case has room for 6 fans, but I only put in two of these and she runs cooler then ever. I may get a few more for my next build.

    Very Quiet Fan
I bought 2 and installed them on 2011/08/20 so far they work well and are very Quiet.
It was handy the came with Screws and an extra connector to use with the power supply.
I would buy mode when I need them.

PROS: It works, It fits, has fan screws and extra connector, has a speed sensor, is Very quiet, the cable is a good length.

    CONS: None so far!

    Great Fan - Very Quiet
I hooked this fan up to a 12DC wall outlet transformer (standard plugin) and it works great. I use it to cool down my PS3 slim in my TV cabinet stand (even though the PS3 doesn't over heat I'm just a little overprotective). It is very very quiet. You can't even hear it running. It's quieter than my PS3 slim so I even leave it running during BluRay movies.
    Great Product!

PS. you can pickup a cheap 12DC transformer at any thift store. You probably even have a couple lying around the house that you don't use.
