Premium 3D Printer Filament PLA 1.75MM 1kg/spool, Blue

Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 1.75mm PLA 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!

PLA is a good choice for a printing material if you are looking for high accuracy and high resolution. It extrudes at lower temperatures, does not require a heated base, and has a very low shrinkage rate (0.3%). PLA is harder than ABS, but is therefore also a bit more brittle. Additionally, PLA is a plant-based plastic, which means that it is biodegradable and gives off a slightly sweet odor, like roasting corn.

This 1 Kg spool features a thickness of 1.75mm ±0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.03mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 210° C (410°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.

The negatives of using PLA is that it is vulnerable to degradation from moisture, sunlight, and heat. Additionally, it is more prone to overheating during processing, which can cause dripping and drooping if it gets too hot.

    Reel Dimensions:

    • Reel Diameter: 195mm (7.68")
    • Hub Diameter: 95mm (3.74")
    • Spindle Diameter: 38mm (1.50")
    • Reel Width: 80mm (3.15")

    update to other review
if you run it at 190-200, the material is a matte finish. if you run it at 230, it's a more translucent gloss blue. If you run this in a makerbot, put a tiny bit of vegetable oil on the end of the filament when you feed it through. it's magic. i had a makerbot that would jam every 10 minutes. a little vegetable oil, and it ran non stop for 6 hours without a hiccup

    Good PLA
Prints great, Colour is a bit clear. I tend to run it at 210, sticks 90% of the area. Colour matches the blue screen on the IIIP printer sold here. Spool is wide, will not fit holder on printers sold here without some work.

    PROS: Prints good, cheap

CONS: Wide spool, no resealable bag.

    Great filament 1.75mm PLA
I didn't realize Monoprice sold filament until a few days before I bought a spool of blue PLA and a spool of white PLA.

The spools the PLA comes on are silly robust, unlike the thin walled one piece spools other PLA I've purchased came on.

The PLA feeds easily in to the hod end of my QU-BD Two Up with Borden extruder and E3D v6 hotend. The Monoprice PLA filament gives great results at 200c using 0.07mm to 1.0mm layer heights and 10% to 50% infills. I'm working on a project that requires parts that are taking my printer fifteen hours to print. I've been printing near round the clock for four days straight without issue.

PROS: Price, consistency, spool quality, color quality.

CONS: None. This is great filament.

    Excellent filament
I have used several different Monoprice filament colors and my experience with all of them has been great. Some filaments can cause problems or needs fine tuning to get good results, but I have had zero issues with Monoprice filament. It extrudes smoothly and evenly at a variety of temperatures, and looks great. Extra point for being some of the most affordable filament out there, as well.

PROS: Smooth extrusion, no jams or problems during use

    CONS: none

bought this by accident, wanted abs
makerbot defaults at 230degrees C, and this starts to melt at 175. with default settings, i will drip out on occasion, and make lots of hairs. I found setting the makerware to 200 degrees and 80mm/min made pretty consistent prints that jammed less

PROS: low price , consistent quality

CONS: had to respool it, hole is too small for makerbot spools (or print a new hub)

it voids your makerbot warranty, but good luck proving it (deny deny deny)

    It is not contestant.
The print quality of the product is okay, but is prints a very translucent blue. The main problem is the inconsistency of the filaments thickness. The filament will stop extruding and due to it being too thick for the extrude.

    Cool as Ice
My opinions are based on having a Makerbot Replicator 2, not a RepRap or tech junkie variant that I'm willing to hack around with. I'm spoiled, and compare everything to the Makerbot. This filament works as well as the black 1.75mm PLA I bought in the same order. First print job was a complex once-piece roller bearing and it finished without any issues. I'm noticing with all of the Monoprice filament that it's thinner than the MakerBot brand. Feeding it into the extruder takes a little more care so that you don't kink it while pushing it past the drive wheel. The spool hole is also 39mm instead of 58mm, so a 58mm spindle obviously won't fit. I printed a 39mm spindle before using this. Monoprice should start using the 58mm spool to better compete with Makerbot. It would also be easier to print hub reducers than a spindle

PROS: Half the price of Makerbot filament, cool translucent appearance

CONS: Not 1.75mm, closer to 1.65mm, flimsy, harder to feed
