Premium 3D Printer Filament PLA 1.75MM 1kg/spool, White

Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 1.75mm PLA 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!

PLA is a good choice for a printing material if you are looking for high accuracy and high resolution. It extrudes at lower temperatures, does not require a heated base, and has a very low shrinkage rate (0.3%). PLA is harder than ABS, but is therefore also a bit more brittle. Additionally, PLA is a plant-based plastic, which means that it is biodegradable and gives off a slightly sweet odor, like roasting corn.

This 1 Kg spool features a thickness of 1.75mm ±0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.03mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 210° C (410°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.

The negatives of using PLA is that it is vulnerable to degradation from moisture, sunlight, and heat. Additionally, it is more prone to overheating during processing, which can cause dripping and drooping if it gets too hot.

    Reel Dimensions:

    • Reel Diameter: 195mm (7.68")
    • Hub Diameter: 95mm (3.74")
    • Spindle Diameter: 38mm (1.50")
    • Reel Width: 80mm (3.15")

Using in a Printrbot Simple Maker with alu extruder
All future purchases of filament will be from monoprice! Just like my laser toner.

PROS: So far this filament is way better than the sample filament that came with the bot. I haven't had any problems with the diameter being too large and jamming up the extruder. The overall size of my filament has been between 1.5-1.7mm so you might have to adjust accordingly.

    CONS: None

    Works Great
I've been printing with this filament for a week now. Probably I've printed for a total of 20 hours with no issues at 195 degrees C. I use an infill of .3, layer heights of 0.1 mm while printing perimeters at 40mm/s and infills at 80mm/sec. In terms of opacity, 5 solid layers are enough to not see the infill underneath.

I'm still a noob, but I'm had absolutely no trouble using this filament.

PROS: In terms of roundness my digital micrometer says the filament is 1.757 in one cross section and 1.770 measured ninety degrees to the first. Personally I'd call that spot-on. Winding on the spool if fine and it feeds without any problems.

    CONS: None.

Top quality / great prints with Monoprice Maker Architect
Works exactly as described and my prints have been of excellent quality. No issues to report and, as usual, top notch products from Monoprice. I'm using this with their Maker Architect printer.

PROS: Exactly as described with no printing issues.

CONS: None so far and I'm a repeat customer.

Used in my Printrbot Simple Metal - love it
Picked this up along with a Raspberry from Printrbot... and I love this much more. Maybe it's the white rather than a rich color, but printing with this filament has been fantastic for me. I'll be buying all my spools at Monoprice now.

    CONS: slightly wider (80mm)

    Multipul filaments
I bought 5 different color filaments and the all work great. I would recommend them and the price is also good after checking some other sources.

    PROS: Good quality

    CONS: none at this time

Mine came contamiated with black unknown particals within the Filament.
Started printing with this PLA and notice that there was some black contamination in the filament. It printed well at first and then It started to cause my printer to clog which took me a whole day to clear and get the printer up and running again. But other then that the print detail with the MP select mini came out excellent.

PROS: Great detail printing with this filament. Great Price point.

CONS: Be careful with Any of these Filament coming contaminated.

    Temperature Rating
As a first time user, I had a hard time figuring out to what temperature I needed to set the extruder for this product. With a web search, I was able to get started but it would be helpful if a recommended temp. range was printed on the spool label. Maybe under the weight? Seems easy enough to do.

Otherwise the product is fine and offered at a decent price. Color is good and filament works well with the printer.

    PROS: Price
    Color
    Works well with printer

CONS: Spool label doesn't have recommended temp. range.

    Poor quality filament
I have not had much luck with this filament. I have trouble getting it to stick to the print bed where other brands have no problem at all. When I do get a decent print, the result is extremely brittle and the parts break with very little pressure applied. I do love ordering from Monoprice so I wish I could recommend this filament. Perhaps I just got a bad roll.

Filament gets stuck in the reel
The very first job off this reel was totally ruined midway as the filament got stuck inside the reel and couldn't be pulled out. It's wound unevenly and binds inside the reel to the point that if you pull on it, it just breaks off. Highly dissatisfied.

CONS: Couldn't complete the job as filament wouldn't spool from the reel.

    Average quality, wrapped too tight
The filament is wrapped too tight, meaning that every 20 minutes or so it gets tangled and I have to manually intervene to untangle it.
I have to babysit long prints which is extremely annoying.
