1000FT 23AWG Cat6 500MHz UTP Solid, Riser Rated (CMR), Bulk Ethernet Bare Copper Cable - White
24 Port Unmanaged 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Switch - Rack Mountable
The Monoprice 24-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch is a professional networking switch that is capable of working within the fastest network systems. The switch conforms to the IEEE802.3, IEEE802.3u, and IEEE820.3ab standards, allowing it to work with 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps networking products. The 24-port design is perfect for use in large data centers, large and small businesses, and even as part of a larger home network installation.
This rack-mount capable device includes twenty-four RJ-45 LAN jacks and twenty-four corresponding green/orange link/activity status LEDS on the front panel. The LINK/ACT LEDs will glow or blink orange when a 10 or 100 Mbps connection is detected or active, and they will glow/blink green when a 1000 Mbps connection is detected/active. The switch's internal power supply can handle 100-240 VAC 50/60 Hz input and it draws a scant 30 watts power.
Installation is as simple as plugging the unit into a wall outlet and inserting cables into the ports on the front. When using 10BASE-T connections, Cat3 UTP cable is sufficient and when using 100BASE-TX connections Cat5 UTP or STP cable is acceptable. However, when using 1000BASE-T connections, Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6 UTP or STP cable is preferred, with Cat6 STP providing the highest level of reliability and signal integrity.
The switch automatically detects the use of straight (MDI) or crossover (MDIX) cables and switches the connection to whichever is needed for the connected device. Therefore any of the sixteen ports can be connected to the upstream hub or router and the others connected to downstream PCs, hubs, or other switches.
This Monoprice switch has an integrated 8K MAC address table and supports MAC address auto-learning and auto-aging. It supports NWAY auto-negotiation and provides an ultra-fast 32 Gbps backplane bandwidth with non-blocking line speed forwarding.
With all speeds, connections, and functions automatically configured and supported, there is no manual configuration or setup required. Simply plug it in and start using it right away!

Pros: Simple. Plug & Play operation. Works great.
I'm glad I didn't throw the box away. Switch failed in 6 mos.

Pros: Out of the box it worked well.
Cons: The complaints regarding fan noise were solved by removing the fan.
Died within 6 months.
Be wary of this switch. While it looks great and works well, the longevity is suspect. I expected fan cooling, but was surprised that it was missing (I guess that solves the fan noise complaint). Also, very glad it didn't fail after the 1 year warranty.
I have submitted a RMA request. The email states that it could take up to 3 days to contact me. I hope it doesn't. I will update this review if possible during the RMA process and timeline.
I will most likely replace this with a commercial unit or a home unit with a lifetime warranty.

Pros: Comes with all necessary components to mount on a rack.
Cons: Text on the switch to determine which lights belong to what switch could be a little bigger for easy visibility.
Have not gotten it to work with my set up but i haven't determined if it's a switch issue or not
I'm having an issue getting connectivity through out this switch and I'm not sure if it's a problem with my setup or not. I currently have my router connected to this switch. From the switch I have patch cables going to a wireless router and patch panel that distributes wires around my home. The wireless router gets connectivity from the switch but not the patch panel. I've checked all the components mentioned and everything is functional. The only way I can get connectivity to the ports on the patch panel is if I use the wireless router's LAN ports as my switch connecting to the patch panel ports, which only 4 are available.
