AC750 Wireless Dual Band Router

Break out of the crowded 2.4GHz wireless band using this AC750 Wireless Dual band Router from Monoprice!

This router relieves the crowding on the 2.4GHz band by adding a second channel at 5 GHz. Your existing 2.4GHz Wi-Fi® equipment can still connect at the 2.4GHz band, while your newer Wi-Fi equipment will be able to connect on the 5 GHz band.

It includes four 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports for wired networking connections and three 5dBi antennas for superior wireless reception. It can achieve speeds up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and up to 450Mbps on the 5GHz band.

It supports a number of advanced features, including support for multiple SSIDs, bandwidth control, and VPN pass-through. An Ethernet cable is included.

Pros: Cheap AC capable

Cons: instability

Experience problems with dropping WAN connection, or wifi connection. In the end you just want it to work and it doesn't, really.

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 11442. If I may ask, how is this router setup (gateway or repeater mode)? To verify, is the signal dropping over both hardwired (LAN) and WiFi connections? Does this happen with all devices connected? Can we try power cycling the setup by disconnecting all cables and power supplies connected to the modem and router, waiting 30 seconds, then booting them back up? Also, has this been an issue since you first received the router? Please let me know along with the order number so we can look into this matter further. My apologies for the trouble and thank you in advance!

Inexpensive router with some useful features

Pros: - Inexpensive
- Feature rich
- Easy setup
- 5GHz support
- Client mode (claimed)

Cons: - 5 GHz is unstable

I've had this router for few months now. For a price it packs quite an extensive feature list. In my opinion, it does pretty much anything an average user would want from a wireless router. "Easy setup" page is a very good addition (again in my opinion) and default settings are more than adequate. Day and time based access control feature is actually works, but user interface could use some work. For example, preventing (overnight) access from 8pm to 8am (next day) required two entries in the access list, one from 0am-8am and another from 8pm-23:59pm. Not a huge deal, but could be confusing.

My biggest issue with this router is 5 GHz support. No matter what i do, 5 GHz is not stable. It starts working great and continues to work great for days, but then it would just lock up. The radio seems to be up, but no packets are passed. It sure looks like a software problem, but, i have not seen any update. Switching off 5 GHz radio and going back to 2.4 GHz makes it solid again.

So, i will give it a solid 5 out of 10 solely based on 5GHz problems.

Hi Max,

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues with 5 GHz support on PID 11442. A couple things you can do is set the router to 20 MHz rather than 40MHz and setting to a different WiFi channel. You can also try pointing the antenna more towards the direction in which your devices are if you have not done so already. I apologize again for the difficulties. Pros: This wireless router is a great purchase. Its a great price, excellent dual-band performance, and shipped quick.Set-up was a breeze.

AC750 Quick and painless installation, so far smooth operation

have been using the AC750 wireless dual band router for 10 days. so far no glitches and smooth running. a few questions i had during setup were answered by monoprice tech support professionally

Don't waste your money

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Terrible performance - needs constant attention to keep it working.

I ordered three of these routers. One of the three didn't work out of the box. The other two are spotty at best. I frequently have to disconnect and reconnect to get the wifi to actually work - my devices will be connected to the router, but it's almost as if the router ignores devices once they have been connected for a while. If I am in a hurry, I switch wifi off on my phone and just use the 4g because at least I don't have to wait for it to reestablish the connection.

I have gone back to my ancient linksys routers despite their age because at least they are reliable. AC doesn't do you any good if you have to keep reconnecting every time you want to use it.

How are these two routers setup (gateway, repeater mode, etc.)?

Is the signal dropping over both hardwired and wireless connections?

Does being closer to the router make any difference?

Does this happen with other devices as well (not just the phone)?

Can we try changing the wireless channel such as to 1 or 12 just for testing purposes?

Also, has this been an issue since you first received the routers?

This has been an issue since I got the routers. I have tried numerous channels. I tried repeater mode, and that made it unusably slow otherwise they are used as regular access points. I tried them directly connected to the modem, I tried them behind a wired router, I tried them together and in combination with other wireless routers.

Being further away from the router seemed to make the situation much worse (where the device would be connected to the wifi but not the internet), but being right beside it didn't make it go away.

The connection never dropped it just didn't work.

I used the routers at home (Comcast) and at work (Charter) with several kinds of laptops (Apple & Windows) and several phones and tablets (Apple and Android).

I never found a way to make the connection (to the internet, not the router) reliable.

The wired ports seem to work just fine.
