    PROS: Price

    Bad Port (s)
So far I have wired up 7 lines to this panel, one was defective. I determined the metal blades that are supposed to bite into the cable is not grabbing properly resulting in a poor/no connection on 1 wire. I am curious to see if I will have trouble with any other ports. It seems the quality control on these units is a little lacking.

    PROS: Great price, sturdy.

CONS: At least 1 bad port.

Great for the money but doesnt support RJ11 jacks.
I never gave it a thought since I have done it so many times. I used this panel to terminate the mess of phone and network wires left in my basement after construction of my home. I have plenty of experience building up data racks and everything went smoothly. Unfortunately when I tried to patch in my phone lines I discovered the panel isn't designed in such a way that phone jacks seat properly. I ended up making some patch cables with RJ45 jacks on one and RJ11 on the other. Otherwise the panel is just fine.

    PROS: Solid construction
    Great price
No issues using my punch down tool
Looks like a patch panel should
    All ports are functional

CONS: RJ11 jacks (like telephones use) do not seat in the panel properly.

    Great patch panel, amazing price
Installed this into our server rack, and it looks great. It was very easy to punch down, and the colors are very clearly labeled. All of this and it's the cheapest one out there. What's not to like?

PROS: Looks great, easy to punch cables in, clearly labeled wiring diagram, lots of space for labelling, connectors snap in with a satisfying click, uses a cable tie system rather than the plastic clips

    CONS: None

    4/5
I've bought several patch panels from monoprice, and they are normally great. I bought 2 of these and noticed that if you use an impact tool, set on high, that it is possible to either crack or damage the circuit board. Set on low I have had no problems. I don't consider this a true negative, more of a "know how to use" type thing. I would still recommend these to anyone.

    PROS: Price

CONS: A little fragile, but just know ahead (see review)

    Good patch panel
For the price, this is one of the best patch panels I have ever used. It was a pleasant surprise!

PROS: Inexpensive, yet solid construction. Was able to certify the panel and cabling 10 10G.

CONS: Light build. I would not reuse the panel if the network is decommissioned. Consider them one time use items.

    Patch cable difficult to remove
I purchased the predecessor (PID 0977) four years ago when rack was installed. I needed to expand so I purchased this item. The unit I received has a problem where it is very difficult to remove the patch cable. Unfortunately I didn't check it before installing it in the rack and punching down my cables.

I thought "What was there to check?" I couldn't test whether the connectors were good until I punched down my cables. I didn't think I would have problems with remove the patch cables. So when discovered I had problems, I pondered whether I wanted to RMA this unit, undoing all my punching and redo it after getting a replacement unit.... I concluded that it was not worth the hassle since it was basically working.

I have had issues with inexpensive Monoprice items, such as with $2.50 earphones, but I wasn't going to complain knowing I wasn't getting top notch equipment.

However being more of the mainstream product, I am disappointed in the quality control.

    PROS: Functional, good value.

    CONS: Problems removing patch cables.

    Faulty.
I'm a huge fan of Monoprice products, and ordered the patch panel for a small home networking project. However, after spending a day punching down cabling to the patch panel, I noticed two of the jacks were failing test. Further investigation confirmed there was no connection from the RJ45/RJ11 receptacle to the punchdown panel. I confirmed with an ohm-meter that the problem was somewhere on the punchdown panel's PWB. It was the same wire (blue/white) on two jacks in the same subpanel (there are 4 subpanels in the entire assembly). Normally, I would not rate something so low for a faulty device and return it. However, return is very difficult after spending an entire day punching down the wires. Since I have 18 cables in my setup, I was able to move the faulty jacks, but the troubleshooting process alone took several hours. Otherwise, the panel performs as expected.

PROS: Well marked for cable hookup. Includes protectors for the back of the punchdown connectors

    CONS: Faulty device (see review).
